Silence fills the room instantly. I really want to know the extent of her injuries, in case anything useful comes to mind for her treatment. But with everyone here present, now is not the time.
“Is there anything either of us can do, doctor?” I manage to ask, while the others remain silent.
“Well, her fated mate’s presence would help a lot. But I have to warn you…”.
