Forty-two Cassie “Great gravy train, Cassie! Stop washing the dishes and sit down.” Mandi snatched the sponge out of my hand. “Don’t make me tie you to the chair. You know I’ll do it too.” And I thought Willa Mae was difficult to handle during these last couple of months of my pregnancy. I gave a heavy sigh. Instead of going to Padre Island or some other Texas beach like most college students did over spring break, Mandi and Nic decided to visit us. It was a mixed blessing. The baby was due soon and I felt like I was about to pop. Willa Mae checked in on me so much during the day, it was hard to get any work done, which was probably her plan all along.
