CHAPTER 31 I regained consciousness on a hospital trolley, screaming in agony. At first, I thought it had worked, that we had made it back to Terra and escaped Big Red once and for all, but it wasn’t meant to be. The MOF managed to knock the Compression Matrix offline before our consciousnesses could be transferred home. We were trapped and at the mercy of the very people we had been shooting at. Thankfully, the death toll for our little insurrection was low. Although both sides suffered casualties, whether out of respect or a fraternal bond buried underneath the surface, both sides had tuned their particle weapons to the lowest frequency. It was strong enough to cut through the reinforced armour of the Exo-suit and cause damage to the flesh beneath it, but not necessarily strong enough
