CHAPTER 34 When I awoke, I thought I was back in New Berlin, but as the events of the ambush raced through my mind, I doubted the likelihood of that. Remaining perfectly still and keeping my eyes closed to appear unconscious, I trained my ears to see if I could detect anyone. After a minute or two, I opened my eyes enough to get my bearing and tilted my head to the side to look for any tell-tale indications of where I was. I spied a small wooden table and chairs to my right but could see nothing else of interest. Out of my peripheral vision, I did note that I wasn’t wearing my Exo-suit, which I took to be a bad sign. No doubt my captors would have fun shredding it to pieces for spare parts. “There is no need for deception here, Terran. We mean you no harm.” A voice spoke from somewhere
