CHAPTER 29 I awakened, still in my Exo-suit, to the sound of gunfire. I instinctively flinched and tried to roll onto my feet, but straps held me tight. Tilting my head, I found myself restrained to a medical trolley in a laboratory I had never seen before. Windows to my left had their shades drawn, blocking any chance of me getting my bearings. I craned my neck, trying to study the room as much as possible. There was no one in here with me and nothing nearby that I could use to free myself. I fidgeted, trying to see if I could manoeuvre my left arm and activate my arm console, but the restraints held.
