After dinner was over, I was pulled into the Alpha's office as Laura remembered where she had seen the necklace from. She seemed almost sad her, her usually upbeat voice was soft and sounded small.
"I need to know the exact location you found this necklace!" He was beyond calm at this point, I had no idea how important this item was to the couple but in the end, they would show me respect or there would be a fight for dominance and I guarantee I would win.
"I found it in the ocean. In the coral reef." I said very calmly, my nails digging into my palms as I grit my teeth together. I was losing my composure very quickly. "What's the big deal about it anyway."
Jeremy spoke for Laura, his voice cracking as his whole demeanor changed. "It belonged to the old Luna, Laura's mother. She went missing years back." Biting my lip gently I give a soft apology for their loss.
"Reports say she just walked into the ocean and was never seen again."
I was puzzled. How could she walk into the Ocean and just disappear? "What does she look like?" I ask. "She had these beautiful green eyes that could see right through you, her face was soft and kind but whenever she was around she had authority."
My heart pounded in my chest as I recalled the elder woman min my childhood, she was always there and it would fit the timeline. She was everything to the merfolk, especially the queen. No one would question her actions either.
She had caused this issue, she had disrupted the pack's order and caused my mates mother to suffer. If my hunch was right, she had a lot of explaining to do. Standing up abruptly I bow my head in submission and take off.
Lucas was hot on my tail but there was no time to wait, she was going to explain everything to me even if it wasn't by choice. Pulling my shirt over my head I toss it onto the sand. Everything plays out slowly.
"Please forgive me Lucas!"
My feet slap against the dock as I hear my mates screams for me to stop, he doesn't understand why I'm doing this but he will soon. Turning my head to look behind me I can only imagine the pain and betrayal etched onto his beautiful face.
And then I dive into the water, my legs binding together with scales once again, and right before I break the surface I Was fully transformed. The only thing I could head was a soft and broken whisper of my name
But that didn't matter at the moment.
Nina did.
