Prologue
Young Caroline. 16th Birthday Party.
I was dressed in a blue Gucci dress custom made of course; fit for a Princess. Which I am technically because my family has a multi-billion empire. Today is my birthday but that's not why everyone is here. My father will announce that I can one day take over the franchise. So much for a Sweet 16 party. He always wanted a son, instead he got me and only me. "Please welcome Miss Caroline Anne Rodgers." I was announced and needed to make my entrance. I took a deep breath and started to walk down the stairs into the ball room. It looked so beautiful, my mother had outdone herself with this party. My father was waiting for me at the bottom of the staircase and I took his arm. "Happy Birthday my dear." of course he used his business tone. I smiled and said "Thanks Dad." He guided me through the crowd and I arranged my face into a straight smile which said thank you for coming. I spotted my mother somewhere talking to some of the guests and I saw Stacy Westman standing in the group my mother was talking to. Stacy and I went to the same high school and most social events, our families had several business deals with each other but we were not friends. My father let go of me so we could both mingle in the crowd, greeting the several guests. I knew most of the people because they either did business with my family or were a famous person invited for the hype. "It is good to see you Caroline, tonight is a life changer for you." I shook Mr Patel's hand as firmly as he shook mine. He was head of operations at RM Investments and he did not approve that I would one day be his boss. I responded, "I was born for this." There was a clinking of glasses before he could respond and I let out a breath, his face looked like he had some smart comeback and I was glad he was not going to say it. My father took to the stage to begin his speech and I knew this was the moment.
"My daughter today has turned sixteen. In the old days that would have meant her looking after the family lands and the trade business. Today it means she is on her way to be one of the biggest business moguls in this country. She was born into this but question is can she do it? Being the only child, my daughter will have to prove herself as she will be the first woman ever to head our family Business. Come up my dear and sign your name to the long list of those that have come before you."
I tilted my head a little higher trying to look taller, walking up to where my father stood I looked forward to the crowd gathered and landed my eyes on Mr Patel. Slowly smiling, I signed my name on the legal document and my father signed after me as my witness. I knew from this day on my Life will change, I was now officially a 16 year old billionaire.
