Chapter 2: An Accident

 On the balcony, Maddie stood as she casually trimmed the flowers and plants there. Whenever she felt idle, she normally spend time on the balcony, trimming branches and leaves, watering, and loosening the soil, all of which she learned in the past three years.

"Madam, there's a call from the mansion." The housekeeper, Aunt Elsa informed her. She took the cordless phone and pushed open the balcony door.

Maddie stretched out her hand and smiled at Aunt Elsa, took the call, and said  "Hello."

 "You feel so big, you want me to wait on the phone for you?." A female voice came from the other end of the phone, her tone was calm, but her words were mocking and disdainful towards her.

 "Mom," Maddie called with a smile on her face, her mood has not been affected by her words. She has listened too much to such familiar words, and now she is almost immune to them.

 "Humph." The woman on the other end of the phone snorted coldly. It's not uncommon for her mother to say, "Master William suffered a heart attack this morning and is in the hospital right now. You inform Ethan to get here soon. Also, you can come here too, but remember, be careful when you go out and wait. When you take a taxi, Remember Ethan doesn't like the matter between you two being discovered." Rose Williams on the other side of the phone gave orders to Maddie like a queen.

 She has always disliked Maddie. In her eyes, Maddie and they were typically from two very different worlds. If her husband hadn’t insisted and her son had no objection, she would never have let a girl from this background come into her family. Three years ago, she had an ideal candidate for a daughter-in-law for a long time, but that was ruined by her.

"How is Dad? What did the doctor say?" Maddie asked nervously. In the past three years, her father-in-law was the only person in this big family who really cared about her and cared for her. As he said at the beginning, he really took her as his own daughter. In her eyes, Master Max Williams is not just her father-in-law but is more like her father.

 "Come over, You'll know." Her mother-in-law Rose said and hung up without waiting for Maddie to say anything.

Maddie called Ethan, explained the situation again to him, and took a taxi to the hospital. When she got to the entrance of the hospital, she saw that there were quite a few reporters around the entrance of the hospital. She told the driver to drive directly to the back door of the hospital and go straight up from another connected building.

 After Father-in-law Max Williams fell from the second floor at the beginning of this year, his body plummeted and the number of visits to the hospital became more frequent. Many people wondered if he could survive this winter. So every time He enters the hospital, there will always be a large number of reporters waiting at the entrance of the hospital for news.

 When Maddie arrived in the ward, her father-in-law was already awake. He seemed very happy to see her. He took her hand and asked if she was doing well recently, and she was gracious. Maddie felt that the old man sitting opposite was her father.

Maddie asked the doctor about his condition. The doctor said that he had a sudden heart attack. Fortunately, he was rescued in time. Now there is no life-threatening situation, but he still has to stay in the hospital for observation for a few days. Maddie offered to stay with him but was rejected by Rose. Ethan called her midway and asked what was going on. He said that he had an important meeting that he might have to go to the hospital later. He made sure that there was no danger before he went to the meeting with confidence.

It was close to dinner time when Ethan arrived. He chatted with his father for a while and asked the doctor about the situation. Rose suggested that she would have dinner with her son as it is not always she gets to spend time with him. Ethan was also afraid that Maddie was hungry and asked her to go with them. Rose didn't say anything on the surface but from the countenance on her face, Maddie knew that she didn't want to eat with her. After going out the door, Maddie spoke with self-awareness, saying that there were too many reporters outside, and they should not eat together for fear of going out like this would cause unnecessary suspicion and trouble. Rose wasn't bothered, but Ethan stared at her for a while, then turned and left without saying a word.

  Maddie was walking on the street where people came and went, and she hadn't come out like this for a long time and walked around. She seldom goes out after her marriage, clothes and other daily necessities are arranged for her, she had nothing to worry about, she has no friends after Lucy returned to her hometown in Shanghai, she has almost no close friends, so based on the above reasons She rarely goes out, and the only communication with the outside world is through the computer.

Walking on the crowded streets and looking at the flashing neon lights, Maddie felt that sometimes walking in this way was a good thing.

Maybe she walked too inattentively, maybe the other party ran too fast, and the accident happened like this. The two people were knocked to the ground at the same time, and the hot pain from the ass made Maddie want to cry. Feeling pain, She tried to get up but before she got up, there was a clear but angry female voice above her head.

  "Hey, you don't even watch it when you walk." The girl who collided with Maddie had stood up from the ground, rubbed her sore butt, and watched the bus that she had been chasing desperately catching dust. So, she stared at Maddie ferociously.

 Maddie stood up reluctantly, alas! No matter who was right or wrong, she had no idea. "I'm so sorry." She didn't raise her eyes and pressed her butt with her hands to pacify the pains she feels because of the fall. It was really a hard fall indeed.

 "Ma...Maddie?" As if by accident, the girl opposite exclaimed with surprise.

Hearing the stranger calling her name, Maddie looked up to see her face clearly. In front of her was a woman with short hair, wearing professional attire, with small eyes but very energetic. This face overlapped with the other face in her mind. "Lucy?" Maddie called out loudly, with uncertainty in her voice.

 "It's really you, Maddie." Lucy happily stepped forward and hugged her. 

 Maddie was so happy that she hugged her back, and she was indescribably happy to see her former friend.

The two sat down in a cafe to celebrate their reunion and talk about their recent developments.

"When did you return to Yorkshire Dale? I thought you wouldn't come back here when you returned to your hometown." After a sip of coffee, Maddie asked. "Ahhhh, I came back two years ago. I tried to contact you and I couldn't get in touch." Lucy gave her a blank look. Two years ago, when she returned, she stopped calling her the first time. She went to her house to find her and heard that she had moved away, and asked those classmates and friends, none of them knew where she went.

  "Ah, I don't use my previous cell phone anymore. I forgot to give you my new number. I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Then Maddie remembered that she was so sad that her father had left, and she forgot to give her the new cell phone number. Of course, Lucy knew how hard Maddie had suffered. The death of her father and the betrayal of her boyfriend happened almost at the same time. She could not accept it as her. "Bring your phone."

  Maddie handed over her phone in a daze, only to see Lucy quickly type a few numbers on it, a melodious and nice ringtone came out of her bag, and Lucy smiled. Lucy Said: "Finished. I entered my mobile phone number, remember to contact me more in the future."  "Okay." Maddie nodded and agreed with a smile.

  "Where do you live now? I've been to your house before and heard them say that you moved." Lucy asked with concern. She knew that Maddie had always depended on her father, and there were no relatives in the family.

 "I... I live with a friend of my father. They treat me very well." Maddie lied. For the time being, she didn't want to tell Lucy about her marriage.

 "Oh, what are you doing now? Accounting?" Lucy then asked. What they studied at school was accounting, so she guessed in line with their study.

 "I... I don't have a job." She mentioned to Ethan several times that she wanted to go out to work, but he refused all of them. She thought he didn't want her to reveal their relationship, otherwise, She would have gone out to work. It was useless to talk too much, so she simply didn't mention it, and lived the life he arranged for her with peace of mind and lived like this for three years except for her secret identity that nobody knew about not even her husband. A year after Maddie was married, she had sort for a way to relieve herself from the grief of losing her father. She learned the art of fashion and jewelry design online and became the mysterious designer M.W. Nobody knew her real identity except for her partner Sebastian who she mysteriously met at that time. Anyway, that should be a story for another day.

  "Have you just been unemployed?" Lucy didn't think too much about it, she instinctively thought that Maddie was unemployed, and didn't think much about other aspects. 

Maddie smiled and changed the subject: "Where do you work now." "I work as an accountant in a decorating company. I will help you see if we have space for recruiting people. I will introduce you to my boss." Lucy enthusiastically said.

 "Good." Maddie agreed with a smile.

The two chatted happily, chatting about the past, the future, and the future objects. Happy time always flies very fast. When Maddie returned home, it was already ten o’clock in the evening, and those who usually came back close to twelve o’clock, (note the sarcasm) have returned today for an unprecedented time, and have taken a shower and is dressed casually at home, sitting leisurely in the living room flipping through financial magazines.

 "Why are you so late?" Ethan looked up at her and asked when he saw her come in.

"Oh." Maddie was greatly surprised to see he came back so early today. After a second of surprise, Maddie regained her composure and said: "I met a friend who I haven't seen for a long time on the road, so I talked with her for a while." Ethan looked at her, like to determine whether she was lying just now, after a while, he asked: "Have you eaten?"

  "Yeah." Maddie nodded and answered, then stopped saying anything, turned, and went straight into the room.

When Maddie came out of the bathroom after taking a shower, Ethan was flipping through the magazine on the bed and when he saw that she came out, he put down the magazine in his hand on the bedside, looking at her eyes like a deep pool, so deep like he was hoping to drown in them…...

 Maddie knew the hint in his eyes and missed a beat in her heart. She went to bed from the other side with a blushing face and was caught in his arms almost as soon as she laid on the bed. Ethan kissed her ear with such tenderness, and his warm breath lazily spilled on her neck. Maddie's cheeks began to feel warm, and her breathing became burdened. They had been intimate countless times during the three years of their marriage, but she was always as sensitive to his teasing as the first time.

 Her reaction made Ethan unable to control herself. He rolled over and pressed her under his body. At almost the same time, the pain from her butt made Maddie exclaim.

"What's the matter? Did I hurt you?" Ethan immediately stopped the movement to continue as he looked at her frowning brows and asked with concern. Maddie shook her head and said with a blushing face: "Ass...it hurts..." She had the urge to cry, she was so embarrassed.

 Hearing this, Ethan turned her over and let her lie down on the bed, reaching out to lift the hem of her pajamas. Perceiving his intention, Maddie blushed and grabbed his hand, not letting him move.

 Seeing her blushing face, Ethan said amusedly: "It's not like I haven't seen it before, why are you still shy." After speaking, he opened her hand and directly lifted the skirt, pulled down her panties, and saw her. There was a lot of red on her round butt, and he asked with a displeased face, "How did you do it?"

  "I just accidentally bumped into someone on the road." Maddie buried her head in the quilt and muttered, that the voice is almost inaudible. At this moment, she really feels ashamed of herself.

 "You are so big and yet so careless." After saying that he got up and got out of the room. Maddie was upset for a long time and just tried to pull up the panties when Ethan came back into the room, returned to the bed, and took the ointment and essential oil in his hand. Spread it evenly on her butt and rub it gently. Maddie blushed like a tomato, but there was a little sweetness and warmth in her heart.
