Chapter 5

The daylight beamed into the letter principal Aiwell held. "Principal, what shall you do?" Crisella asked. "While it is risky to send my students again on a mission, a request from an old colleague is an opportunity for me to thank him for what he has done for me in the past. Despite the fact that it won't be like any of their missions before, it'll be one that would improve their skills. We'll send Professor Slack to keep an eye on them from afar. Plus..a promise is a promise. Besides hehe that i***t finally accepted my nickname for him." the principal said. He cleared his throat and continued. "According to the report, an estimate of 200 goblins attacked the village. Even though goblins are the weakest types of demon, in numbers they are strong and the possibility of goblin king still remains due to the mass number of goblins. If that is true then a question of why will rise. Goblins are normally dumb and only listen to their leader, so if a goblin king exists.." Crisella became shocked after she realized what the principal meant. "T-the goblin king is ordering them." Principal Aiwell nodded. "We don't know if the demon kingdom will send recruits to stop the goblins but it's better to take precautions within our own hands." "Yes, sir." Crisella said and was about to walk out of the room but stopped. "Do we... tell HER?" "Hm.. no. It's too risky. The child has just adjusted to her new life here. If she finds out we are to s*******r her people due to our own gain, who knows what will happen. For now, let her enjoy her time in the Academy." --- Kendra and Blythe stared intently on their books, reading the c****x while their chest pounded for every word they read. They both sighed in relief as they closed the book. "That was so close. I thought she'd die!" "Me, too. The plot in the book thicken so much it gets me excited to read the last book.." "Rigghht?? It's so cool! I wish Taka would learn to love reading. I mean, it's fun to talk with you, Kendra, and read about it but it would be loads of fun if there's a ton of us!" "I don't really get it but I do want my brother to love reading the same way I do. Although, these days, he seem to visit the library more often so, he might actually think about going into the hobby! And if Blythe thinks its fun, then I think it would be fun, too." Kendra smiled at Blythe. "Kendra.." Blythe's eyes sparkled as she hugged Kendra tightly. "Ah! I forgot! I have to pass my essay from Professor Chrome's class since I finished it so late that when I was about to pass, everyone else was already on their way out and professor Chrome already went back to his office. I'll see you on Monday, Kendra!" Blythe rushed and left Kendra in the garden. Crap. I'm so late. Professor Chrome is gonna kill me. And to think he already hates me for no reason. Blythe ran to the office but suddenly bumped into a guy which made them both stumble. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean-" Blythe explained trying to help the guy stand up. "Tch." he glared, refusing to accept Blythe's help. "Duke, everyone is waiti- huh?" A guy with an emotionless face approached them. "I was on my way already." He said walking away with the other guy. What's up with him? Blythe thought but completely brushed it off. She cleaned her dress and continued to run to professor Chrome's office. She knocked on the door and opened it a little. "Hello? Professor Chrome?" No one's here. Well, I guess I'll just leave this here and.. A vision of someone smacking her head from behind flashed before her, making her look behind but.. smack She was a second late. Blythe fell on the ground, losing consciousness with the view of a pair of shoes was all she saw before completely blacking out. -- "Shh.. She'll wake up." "What does it matter? She's gonna wake up soon, anyway." "Duke!" Huh..? W-what? Blythe still confused, tried opening her eyes as a group of people stood before her. Including Taka and Kenny. She looked around totally confused. "Blythe, it's okay. We're at a villa far from our dorms right now but we're all from the Academy. Do you remember how you got in the trunk?" Taka asked. "I was.. in a trunk? But the last thing I remembered was..." she said holding her head, still in a daze. "Honey, take it easy." a female senior whom she never met before said. Professor Chrome. Sht. Did I pass my paper!? She tried to stand up and run but her head was still spinning. "Blythe!" Kenny and Taka called out then looked at each other before running towards her. Taka Bloodworth Magic : 4500 Stamina : 11000/11000 Mana : 11000/11000 Agility : 5100 Strength : 5500 Intelligence : 4600 Skill lvl : 45 Special skill : ??? Status : ??? "Let me hel-" Taka stopped mid sentence as he watched Kenny carry Blythe back on the bed. Taka clenched his fist and walked back to Blythe. "New girl, how did you get here?" a pretty girl with short curly hair asked. It was Vivien from her class but there was something oddly familiar about her. "I.." Blythe started. "I??" Kenny said in anticipation. "I need to.." Everyone looked at her with a serious face, thinking she would reveal the culprit. "I need to pass my essay." she said before collapsing on the bed. Kenny, Taka, and her female senior laughed out loud. "It's not a laughing matter, Olivia." Olivia Green Magic : 5100 Stamina : 7000/7000 Mana : 8000/8000 Agility : 61000 Strength : 4500 Intelligence : 5000 Skill lvl : 59 Special skill : ??? Status : ??? "S-sorry, Duke. hahahahaha Dolly, here is just so funny. Even after her head got hit, she's still thinking about her paper." Duke Sinclair Magic : 5300 Stamina : 10000/10000 Mana : 10000/10000 Agility : 5100 Strength : 5400 Intelligence : 5500 Skill lvl : 60 Special skill : ??? Status : ??? Olivia cleared her throat making everyone in the room serious. "Let's just let her rest at this villa for the mean time. I already informed the principal and has sent a carriage to get her. It will take at least a day to get here. Nevermind that, just focus on the mission." Duke said. "It's great to be with everyone, again! Vivien, Taka, Kenny, Duke, and Lance! Let's ace this mission." Olivia proclaimed. --- "Before, the country of Avansur was a gold mine for both heroes and champions ( demons that have extreme abilities ). The number of deaths you gain during battle determines your rank in the hero and champion list. But because of the peace treaty, a lot of heroes has fled the country to become heroes in other lands. There are some who remained loyal to the kingdom and have stayed to battle the rebellions. In the demon's side, the champions are also divided. Those who rebeled against the demon king's decision and those who are loyal to the throne. Meaning, the goblin king is one of those who are against the treaty and may have a few demon champions on his side. If that's true, we have to remain vigilant but at the same time wise on our moves." Duke explained to the group. "This is the first mission where we are actually to fight goblins. In previous missions, we were only to assist in evacuating the citizens but due to the shortage of heroes we were called to do this dangerous task." Olivia added. "So, are you gonna back out now?" Lance asked. Lance Penfield Magic : 6100 Stamina : 11000/11000 Mana : 11000/11000 Agility : 5600 Strength : 5900 Intelligence : 5600 Skill lvl : 52 Special skill : Share stealth [ An ability to maximize the users stealth by lowering the sound, vibration, and visibility of the user. Can be shared by a maximum of 8 people. ] Status : ??? "Hell, no! The thrill of the battle field is one that I longed for. By the way, Duke, such a big coincidence your parents had a villa in this part of the country. Thanks for having us!" Olivia said with a smile with a nod from Duke in return. "But what are we gonna do with her?" Vivien asked pointing at the unconscious Blythe. "She can stay here. This villa is far from the village where the goblins are." Duke replied. "So, here's the plan. The goblins are still on the way to town so they'll have to pass through the forest. Thankfully, these demons are weak to sunlight and could only attack at night. This gives us an opportunity to get into position by dusk. Lance will cast his special ability to increase all of our stealth. We'll take down all the goblins and when we know they have reduced, they'll back out and head to their leader for protection. That's when we'll follow them and eliminate the leader. Sound good?" Duke asked. "Yeah!" everyone said. "There's a hole.. Archers.. hole...Archers...." They look at where the voice is coming from and they saw Blythe sit up on the bed who then immediately fell back to the bed. "She's so cu-" Kenny and Taka simultaneously said then looked at each other in shock. "Curious!" "Calm!" "This girl seriously has issues." Olivia said. Sht. Sht. Sht. No doubt about it, Kenny has a thing for Voci. Taka thought to himself. Fck. Fck. Fck. Taka definitely likes Blythe. Kenny thought to himself. They both smiled at each other and then looked away. "Aside from the fact that she was sleep talking, she has a point." Lance spoke. "Goblins are known to be very sharp archers. So how are we gonna defend against those?" He continued. "True. Me and Duke can stay at the very entrance of the forest and keep an eye on their archers. You four can concentrate on reducing the number of goblins from inside the forest." Olivia suggested. "Let's make sure to complete this mission without sacrificing our lives." Olivia said as they all gathered their hands to strengthen themselves as a team. The night was as bright as ever and the goblins' rampage continues nearing closer to the town. Will they be able to stop these demons? Or will the demons stop them?
