Chapter 6

"Watch out! There's a hole!" Blythe warned but the goblin archer child still fell. It wasn't a deep one, so they all just laughed and pulled him back up. The goblins started running like they wanted to play tag with Blythe.

"Hey! Wait up goblins!" Blythe chuckled as she played tag with the village goblins.

"Hurry up, princess!" the goblin children giggled, waving at her from afar.

"You archer kids.. so.. fast.. wait up! Oh, I know!" She said losing her breath.

"Surge." she said as she extended mana to her whole body to increase agility.

Huh?

She wondered why the spell didn't work.

"Princess! Hurry Hurry!" The kids kept calling her.

"Wait for me!" She said running but was slowly losing sight of them and then suddenly, everything became dark.

Where am I?

It's so dark and quiet.

Blythe thought while looking around in a never ending dark space. At the very end she saw a figure.

"Goblin kid...?" Curious, she tried to follow it. The figure also ran as if it wanted Blythe to chase it. After a while, it stopped running away.

"Why are you... following me?" the figure looked back at Blythe. She looks so familiar. Blythe then realized who it was.

"You're... me." Blythe gasped as the figure who looked like her past self appeared before her and giggled then came closer to Blythe.

"Why do you look so tense? Is it because of those humans? Aren't you tired of being around them?" The figure whispered to Blythe who tried to catch her but couldn't. Instead, the figure looked like it was playing with Blythe.

"They've betrayed you in your past life, so why are you trying hard to be close to the ones who hurt you in the first place?"

"What do you want?" Blythe said furiously. Refusing to give in to what it's saying.

"Me? Oh, dear, I don't want anything. But you.. what do you want...Chisuke?" the figure continued to play with Blythe.

"I know what you want... and the only answer is... turn the whole human race into dust." the figure suddenly got distorted and turned into a shadow of a child she has never met before which terrified Blythe.

"We'll see each other again, Chisuke~" the figure said as it vanished into the darkness.

"Wait!" Blythe tried to catch it but suddenly fell into nothingness. She woke up sweating and her heart still racing.

Was that a dream? If it was.. it's too real to be one.

Huh?

On the side of her bed lays Taka who fell asleep. He was probably watching her the whole time. This made Blythe smile then she noticed, Kenny was also sleeping in a chair just beside her bed. She felt so overwhelmed that she forgot about the dream she had.

But wait. Where am I?

Blythe looked around and out the window.

T-This isn't anywhere near the dorm! Wait..

She thought to remember the tiny pieces of memory from last night.

"Blythe.. far from dorm.. everyone here...from Academy. Carriage to return..after 7 days.."

She sighed relief after just remembering those juggled up words.

She stood up from the bed and placed blankets on both Taka and Kenny. Thirsty, she got out of bed and tried to find water in the big villa.

"The water's in the kitchen. Second door to the right." a voice instructed her from behind. She turned around and found Lance leaning against the wall, gesturing the second door to his right.

"T-Thank you. How'd you know I was looking for water?" Blythed asked out of curiousity.

"Your dry lips and those bedtime slippers tells me you just woke up with a throat dying to taste water." Lance replied with a keen look on his face.

"Wow. That's amazing!" Blythe said in excitement.

"Uh?" Lance looked so confused to what she just said.

"With one look, you could easily tell what was up with me! May I know your name!?" She said with optimism written all over her face.

Lance chuckled and walked towards her. He place a hand on her shoulder and whispered.

"You're so cruel, princess." Blythe shocked and looked at him as he walked away.

"Wait! How did you-" she called out, making Lance stop for a while.

"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone." He said and continued to walk away.

Blythe, confused, stood there for a while then felt a sharp pain in her head, probably from oversleeping.

I'll think about that later. Right now, I gotta stop this nasty headache and dry throat.

She returned to going to the kitchen and found the guy she bumped with two days ago also in there.

That's right. He was there last night.

"You've finally woken up."

"Y-yeah."

"There's headache medicine in the cupboard on your left." Duke said while eating in the table.

"Thank you!" Blythe smiled excitedly, feeling that he may be someone she can be comfortable with and make friends.

"Do you own this villa?" Blythe asked.

"Yes." Duke replied.

"You must be filthy rich then! And your parents even let you stay here with some friends. If it were my parents, they would have said no this and no that and no to everything! Man, you're so lucky to have great parents-" Blythe was stopped as Duke stomped his plate with force. Blythe looked at him as he glared at her.

"Don't act like you're so familiar with me. You know nothing about my life. about this country. about my family. You're just a pathetic gullible i***t who doesn't know what she's gotten into."

"Duke!" Blythe and Duke looked at the door where Taka stood.

"I was just leaving." Duke said walking out of the door and stopping near Taka.

"Don't you dare tell her about our mission if you don't want it to be as messy the moment she came with us." Duke whispered to Taka.

Taka's eyebrows furrowed as he watched Duke walk away from him. Blythe ran to catch Duke and held his hand. This shocked Duke as Blythe placed something on his hand.

"S-sorry!" She said as she ran back to Taka who was near the kitchen door.

Duke looked at his hand where Blythe held and found a small candy. This made Duke smirk and continued to walk away.

Just this once. I'll let it pass.

He thought to himself.

"Taka, you came to eat?" Blythe asked. Taka smiled and went near the table where two plates with omelette were prepared.

"What's this?" Taka asked curiously.

"You mean you've never had omelette before?"

"I've heard of it before but haven't actually tasted it. It became really popular when I was still 7 years old." Taka explained.

Come to think of it, that was the year I made omelette for everybody in the kitchen. They liked it so much, that they shared the recipe with the branching kingdoms of the demons. But how did it end up with the humans.. rather.. am I really the only one who got reincarnated into this world? Well, I haven't met anyone like that yet. But if it's possible.. there's so many things I wanna ask.

"Voci..?" Taka called out to Blythe who just snapped back from her thoughts.

"Huh? You were saying something?"

"Geez, Voci. Even outside the classroom your head is always above the clouds."

"S-sorry. hehe" Blythe apologized.

"I was saying that me and the others are going out later to the village to take care of some business. You can stay here since you still have a headache and the carriage arrives tonight." Taka explained.

"I can manage my headache though. Can't I come with you guys? I don't wanna be left behind.. I won't be a bother, I promise.." Blythe begged. This has been Blythe's biggest fear ever since she lived in the new world. She wanted to make sure she doesn't end up with the same fate as her old self.

"Sorry, Voci. Our leader gave specific instructions not to bring you with us. Maybe next time, alright?"

"Alright." Blythe said with a sad expression on her face.

Taka felt so guilty. He held her cheeks that made her look at him as he kissed her forehead. Blythe was shocked and couldn't move.

"Next time, I promise. I won't leave you." He swore to her.

"Duke, Olivia, Lance, Taka, Kenny do you hear me?" Vivien said while she stood behind a tree.

"Roger." Everyone said.

Dusk came and everyone was in position. The goblins has shown themselves and was ready to go through the forest and into the nearby town.

"They're coming." Olivia shared with the group.

Duke and Olivia watched the goblins as they started walking into the woods. When suddenly, they sprinted forward that caught Olivia and Duke off guard.

"Now!"

"Multishot!" Olivia casted as multiple arrows fell down from above. Reducing the goblins number but also giving away Olivia's position. Some goblins pursued Olivia but some still ran into the forest.

"Blade Fury." Duke casted as a pair of blades sliced off 4 goblins.

The two battled at the entrance of the forest but some goblins still passed through them.

"Can you still manage?" Duke asked Olivia.

"Heck yeah! I have never felt so alive hahahahaha" Olivia replied.

The battle continued for the both when suddenly, Olivia got cut from an arrow coming from above.

"The archers." Olivia said with a bleeding cheek.

"Are you okay?" Duke asked.

"Archer goblins.. and.." Olivia paused as her eyes widen with excitement.

"Their archer champion.." A smile started to form her lips like a bloodthirst wolf in the night.

"Hell, yeah I'm okay! The battle's just getting started.." She replied to Duke with a smug face.

"I'm gonna contact the others and see how they're doing." Duke said while battling with his blades in thin air.

"Are you guys okay over there?" Duke asked the others.

"Yeah, they're coming in right now." Vivien replied.

Meanwhile, back at the forest.

"Balmond. Αwaken." Kenny casted the spell as a great switch axe appeared at where he casted.

"We're finally going into battle, my friend." Kenny said as he carressed the weapon.

The goblins had arrived and started attacking. The goblins attacked them with their small knives but couldn't land a single attack since they could not figure out where the team was thanks to Lance's share stealth.

"What, Taka, still not gonna use your plants?" Kenny teased as Taka weilded his sword.

"Shut up." Taka said annoyed at Kenny's tease and the goblins who are so close to hitting him.

"Just use your skill, Taka. Stop b*tching about it." Vivien said while also dealing with the goblins using sword.

"Fine. Nature's wrath." Taka said as multiple vines came out of the soil and started attacking the goblins. Killing each one it passes through.

"Hahahahaha! Garden boi!" Kenny laughed while killing off the goblins that attempted to strike at him.

Taka ignored the embarrassment and continued to use his sword.

The fight went on until there were a few goblins left.

"A few...more.." Taka said as he slashed the last goblin who was attacking him.

"Ta..ka.." A familiar voice called him out. The goblin fell to the ground uncovering who that person was.

"Voci!" Taka exclaimed as he saw Blythe with an expression he has never seen before.

"You shouldn't be-" Taka was cut off mid sentence as Blythe started to float in the air. Her hair fell down revealing her demon horns. Her left eye glowing as she stared intently at the ground where Taka, Lance, Kenny, and Vivien are.

"Die." Blythe said as a mass wind surrounded her.

From afar at the entrance of the forest, the goblins have already backed out and was on their way to their leader.

"We did it!" Olivia shouted.

"Now, let's go follow them before-" Duke wasn't able to continue as a large explosion happened behind them that made them look.

The forest was slowly being engulfed in fire. Duke and Olivia looked at each other with worry.

"The others." They both said and started sprinting towards the other members. When they got there, Kenny and Vivien have already fallen to the ground. Lance was nowhere to be seen. Taka was still running away from the constant fireballs that Blythe is throwing then finally hitting him at his foot. Duke distracted Blythe by using one of his blades. Unfortunately, Blythe stopped them seeing it would injure her if she let it touch her skin. She controlled the blade which shocked Duke. No one ever controlled his blades than him. Blythe used Duke's blade against him as they battled further away from Taka and the others.

"Taka, what happened?" Olivia asked Taka who sat on the ground with his ankle burnt.

"I-I don't know. Blythe.. she-"

"That was Blythe?!"

"I-I don't know. I'm so confused right now. Professor Slack... we should wake the Professor before-" Taka was cut off as a fast figured appeared before them.

"You kids take care of the others. I'll deal with this." The Professor said then sprinted towards Blythe and Duke.

Blythe has already taken control over Duke's blades. He had cuts all over his body while being cornered by Blythe. He's losing a lot of blood as Blythe got closer to him.

"Extinguish. Sweet scent. Paralysis edge. " The Professor multi-casted as Blythe fell to the ground.

"Profess...or..Slack.." Duke said before completely giving into the pain and passing out.

Meanwhile, the attack had already reached the goblin king who was not so far from the battle field earlier.

"Really? The princess attacked them? And she was THAT powerful? How...charming." The goblin king showed a demonic smile then laughed while the goblins trembled.

"So, this is the secret the king never told us. That selfish bastard wanted all that power to himself. We could rule the entire country..rather the entire world if we use her correctly!" the goblin king exclaimed.

"Morphus." A voice from the shadow made the goblin king change his expression.

"Y-your leadership!" He bowed down as all the other goblins followed.

A seemingly child-like figure stood in the shadows of their hideout.

"I see that you've found out about the weapon we were talking about." the voice spoke.

"Yes! I finally understood why you want us to rebel against the king. This is.. the most amazing discovery that could change the entire fate of the demons!" he said with an excited look on his face.

"Good. So you will understand what I'm about to instruct. Pull back your army and stop the attack."

"But your leadership! I have prepared more than one thousand goblins just so we could conquer that town!"

"The princess has just known about your slaughtered soldiers."

"But those were just decoys and they were prepared to end their lives for this attack!"

"Silence!" The child's voice echoed through the room.

A sigh came out from him as he continued.

"The princess attacked the humans because she felt pity and compassion towards your kind. Now, if she finds out that you were the ones who attacked first, do you think your race can survive if she rages at you?"

"I..." The goblin king realized and could not talk back.

"So, withdraw the attack. The princess has convinced herself the destructive nature of humans. And with this, our plan will surely unfold. There will be a meeting tomorrow. Be sure to be there and try not to go against my words. You know what happens if you disobey, right?" The voice said with a smirk as it vanished from the room.

"Tsk. withdraw the clan. We'll attack a different time." The king commanded.

The night grew deeper as the wind howls in the new world Blythe was reincarnated in.
