Chapter 16

"Wind of Taikiki!" Blythe casted as a powerful wind filled the air and threw the attendants to the pond. "Again." Touya said, unmoved. Blythe sighed and focused by closing her eyes. "Wind of Taikiki!" Blythe casted again as the attendants floated from the pond but stumbled back again. "Your attendants aren't your toys, your highness. Stop focusing on hitting a target and think about the good places the technique could bring you." "But master, I've been trying to perfect this skill for ages and I've been able to make my attendants float... well, not intentionally, but isn't that the point of the spell?" Blythe complained as Touya hit her on the head. "Ow!!!!" "Do you know why the spell is called the wind of Taikiki?" "Uh, duh, because the spell was created at the edge of the west part of the continent which is called.... Taikiki?" "Wrong. It was made in the west part of the continent, correct. But importantly, it wasn't made in Taikiki but was made on a cliff which was not part of the town of Taikiki. The masters that made this spell spent years to perfect it. They were of different species but they learned to work together and thought of each other as comrades. Their names were Taibo and Kikibo and they became the legendary duo of the west." "Taibo and Kikibo...so shouldn't it be Taibokibo?" Blythe said with a wide smile as Touya lifted his hand to hit her again. "I'm kidding! I'm kidding! Taibo and Kikibo from Tai in Taibo and Kiki from Kikibo. But what's the difference? I mean even if they're different species they're still both demons." Blythe said. "Ah, but I didn't say that they were both demons." Touya said making Blythe gasp. "But I've never heard of a demon and human become a duo before! It's not written in history books! Plus, wasn't the demon scared at all? Becoming friends with filthy humans?" Blythe asked. "Your highness, each being is on their own. You cannot group them. When one makes a mistake, you do not blame the others for it." "I don't get it, master." Blythe said tilting her head. "Princess, if you did something wrong, should I also scold and hit the heads of every dragon demon?" "B-But you'll be hitting and scolding mama and papa, too." Blythe cared for her demon parents than anyone in her two lives combined. "That's right. Do you want me to do that?" "Hmm...." Blythe thought carefully that made Touya flinch. T-This brat even consider making me hit her parents. He thought. "Don't do it, master. I'll take full responsibility if I did something wrong!" Blythe said smiling. "You've become very mature, princess." Touya remarked. Maturity was something very undeveloped for Chisuke. Being constantly abused at home and bullied at school, there was no place to learn how to feel or interact with others. This new life of hers meant so much to her because of the love everyone around her made her feel. "Anyway, back to the spell. Try on redirecting that energy around you unto your feet. The radius is this training ground. The spell does not work outside the radius so try focusing on being one with the wind. Floatation spells require a lot of mana so don't overdo yourself." "Yes, master." Blythe inhaled and exhaled. "Wind of Taikiki!" she said calmly while closing her eyes. "You can open your eyes." Touya said as Blythe slowly opened them. Blythe floated in the air, fascinated by the fact that she could feel the wind just below her feet. "This is so cool, master! It's like flying without the need of my wings!" She said walking on air and giggling. A group of demon maids entered the training grounds and bowed down. "Your highness, we are here to escort and prepare you for tonight's ball." The head maid said. Blythe looked at Touya with a sad expression who smiled softly at her. "Princess, do not neglect your duties. It is your responsibility to attend the annual knight's celebratory party. You should thank the soldiers for their sacrifices and courage shown in the battlefield. All the other royalties from different clans will also be there. Who knows, you might find a friend or two there." Blythe couldn't say a word and just bowed down to her master then followed her escorts. She wasn't very fond of parties because she felt very alone when she mixes with other kids. They were the superior species of the underworld. Many clans fear their bloodline because of the menacing aura they show even while standing still.Even more, the other dragon demons do not mingle with that of the royals after they sent their sons to overtake thrown but ended up dying in the hands of the royalties. In the end, the royal dragon bloodline is the most superior bloodline among all the demons. But that didn't mean anything to Blythe who couldn't make any new friends due to the blood that runs in her veins. To her, every party felt like she was Chisuke again. - knock knock The king entered Blythe's room and found her hair up and her dress in red and black theme much like his. "My baby is all grown up~" He said as he hugged Blythe who giggled at how his beard tickled her. "Daddy, your beard tickles." she said but the king wouldn't let go. "Alright, dear, that's enough. Blythe needs her space." The queen said, entering the room. "Mommy!" Blythe ran towards the queen but quickly halted and elegantly bowed down to her. "What a fine young lady, our baby has grown." The queen said with a smile. Soon enough, the guests from different clans as well as the knights that have participated in war arrived. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Demons and Demoness, The Demon King and Queen as well our Demon princess has arrived. All glory and honor to the bright sun of the demon world!" The announcer said as Blythe entered the party with her parents, making everyone bow down. "All glory and honor to the bright sun of the demon world!" Everyone hailed. "Rise." The king commanded as everyone lifted their heads. "Today, we celebrate the sacrifices of our dear and beloved brothers and sisters who have not only won us countless of battles but also.... " The king continued his speech while Blythe's eyes roamed the hall. Although the adults look unshaken, she could see the children her age tremble in fear like they were forced to attend the event. Another boring party. She thought. "And with that," A servant handed the king and queen a glass of wine which they raised together. "A toast to our brave soldiers!" The crowd raised their glasses which they sipped in afterwards. The music started as the king and queen went down to greet the other clans. It was understandable already that Blythe had to join those of her age since the party was not only to celebrate the knight but also to get strong connections from clans to establish donations that will help the warriors with their necessities. Blythe stood at the corner as the other children giggled and talked. Envious, Blythe tried approaching one group but one of them saw her coming. "Guys, let's transfer by the food area. I heard they're serving a new type of meat." the one who saw said as the others understood that Blythe was walking towards them and immediately left their spot. Blythe sighed and leaned against the wall. It's okay, Blythe. It's just a party. Mom, Dad, Master Touya, and everyone in the castle loves you. It's not worth being sad about. "It's prince Lance~ omg" "I thought he wasn't coming?" "He said so last time at the crow duchess' tea party." "What are you ladies talking about?" Lance approached with a smile on his face. "We didn't think you were coming so we dressed less today thinking it would be just about the knights! Hmph!" "Yeah, now we feel ugly just standing in front of you." "You ladies look gorgeous to me." He remarked as the ladies fell for his dashing self. "Remember to make good connections with the princess. She is the future of our clan, Lance. Don't mess this up." Tsk. He remembered the few words his father said on their way to the castle. His eyes looked around as he saw on the corner, the person his father referred to. "Excuse me, Princess? Would you care to dance?" "Um.." Blythe looked around as if reassuring that Lance was talking to her. "Me?" "Of course you, princess. Would there be anyone in this corner?" He said with a smile. "Oh... no, thanks. I'm really bad at dancing." She said as she avoided Lance's gaze and moved away from where she stood. Everytime she moved, Lance would follow her, nontheless. Is this guy crazy?? A p*****t?? "Why are you following me?" "No other reason but to be close to you, your highness." "Did your father tell you to become close with me?" Lance was surprised at how she found out and couldn't response. "Figures. There were a lot of guys from other clans who approached me because their parents told them to. At least this time, you don't look like you're about to wet your pants. Anyway, just tell him that we've become acquainted and I'll gladly smile and mention you when I meet with your dad." Blythe said leaving Lance to stand at the middle of the crowd as she left the hall to be in the balcony. When will this party end? "You really don't seem to enjoying the party, too, huh?" The voice of the same person she talked to earlier made her look. "Why are you still following me?" she raised a brow. "Relax. This time, I'm actually quite curious. How can a child younger than me be so mature?" "Well, you're not exactly that old that you sound mature enough to not get scared of my presence. You do know the rumors about our race, right?" Lance chuckled. "Forgive me, your highness, but it's hilarious how you say that with a cute face. Maybe if it was his majesty, the king, then I would have taken that seriously." "..." "Honestly, I'm more afraid of the people inside there." "...why?" "The smiles they wear are nothing but masks to cover their real intentions. You, however, remind me of a certain someone before who is not afraid of telling them what they truly feel." "Hah. You sound so corny right now." "Do I?" Blythe giggled. "Hey... do you wanna get out of this place?" "Stop joking. There are guards all over the place." "Don't worry, during this event, the security loosens up in the palace. So.." Lance offered his hand as a transcending white and blue pair of feathered wings appeared behind him. What is this guy thinking? Blythe wondered not noticing the short smile she had. Her scaled dark and red wings appeared as she took Lance's hand. The two soared the sky, passing by every guard who looked distracted by the joyous event. A few moments later, they arrived at a thick forest whose leaves were as red as the crimson sky of the underworld. "Are you sure it's safe to go there?" "Trust me. I'll show you something amazing." They went into the forest and kept walking that made Blythe anxious. A-Am I being kidn*pped right now??? T-This is what I get for following a stranger! Geez, Blythe! When will you learn!????? "We're here." Lance stopped walking as Blythe followed. He looked at her, then looked up. Hesitantly, Blythe looked up to find the red and green leaves that intertwined one another beautifully. "Woah." "Woah indeed." Lance said smiling as the bright blue sky and the red sky met each other. "This forest is a border of the demon and human kingdom but have been long forgotten by both because of a rumor that spread about it being cursed once you step into it." ... "Wait, what!? Then why are we here??? This is a f*******n place! Is this your plan all along??? To curse me???" "Relax, your highness." Lance chuckled. "I've been here and I don't think I've ever come across a curse or anything like that." "Oh... So, it's not true?" "I don't think so. I think it's baseless rumor." "I see.... huh?" Blythe stopped walking around as she stumbled upon a peculiar mushroom she has not seen before. "What's this?" She plucked the mushroom as a glowing light made Lance sprint towards her. "Our f*******n love will forever remain in this forest. Spread a rumor that it is cursed, and we shall meet here every spring when the leaves have covered the entire forest. If we get caught, pluck the mushroom and we will be sent to our own worlds, as human and demons are not meant to love one another but we will forever remain in each other's hearts." "Princess!!" Lance said as a gust of strong wind blew his body to where they came from while Blythe was carried by another wind to the opposite direction. Damn it. He thought as the wind became stronger and he immediately got blown back infront of the forest they came from. W-What the heck? The wind's gust continued to blow Blythe tumbling away as the trees no longer had red ones. snap Blythe felt something snap on her back that made her feel overflowing mana. The gust of wind calmed down as Blythe landed on her feet. "What the heck was that?" She said as she looked around the unfamiliar green surrounding. These leaves... and trees... they look exactly like the ones on Earth. She hid her wings and when she decided to take a step, she noticed her feet were bare. "It must have been lost by that strong wind earlier. Well, it's not like I learned the best skill for this situation. Oh, wait, I did!" "You friggin' genius, Blythe." she praised herself. "So are you, Blythe, might you have the honor to do the spell?" "The honor's mine, Blythe~ Wind of Ta-i-ki-ki" A strong gust of wind gathered aroind her feet that she could feel them. She felt odd because when she performed the skill for the first time with Touya, it wasn't that easy for her. Maybe it's because I've already done it the first time. Suddenly, a kid who was about the same age as her showed up. What an odd boy... Is he also a dragon demon? His horns look the same as mine so he must be a dragon demon... but how? is he lost? She thought. The boy's cheeks were flushed as he look down and fidget his fingers. "Are you lost, young boy?" "N-No! I'm not lost! You are! How dare you speak to the crown prince that way!" Crown prince? Oooooooh he must be playing pretend. How cute~ "I'm sorry, your highness." Blythe bowed down sarcastically. "I-It's fine!" He said blushing and looking at how Blythe was above the ground. She figured he must have been fascinated by the skill she used. "Do you wanna ride with me?" "N-Nonsense! What kind of prince would play around with a commoner!" C-Commoner!? I'M ROYALTY YOU SPOILED BRAT! "B-But if you insist on making me play with you, then, I don't mind." He said but it was clear that he wanted to ride the wind like Blythe was doing. Blythe giggled at how cute the boy with the same horns as her was. "Then, I will do as you wish." But is it possible for me to cast it to two people? "Wind of Taikiki." She said as she concentrated energy unto the feet of the boy. "Woah!" He said fascinated and walking around while the air followed his steps as he floated just like Blythe. Looks like I can and without trouble, too. Hah. I guess this skill is way easier than I thought it would be. "Tag! You're it!" The young Taka said chuckling as hen with his feet above ground. Blythe didn't flinch and thought it was a very childish thing to do considering her real age. "what? You give up already? Ugly loser." Taka smirked that made Blythe jolt. Of all her years in this new world, no one had ever dared to call her ugly. She was always praised for her gorgeous horns and her admirable face. "Why... you....!" Blythe snapped and ran to catch Taka who ran faster than her. A little while later, they were giggling and playing around the green meadows. And Blythe completely forgot how childish it was to run around mindlessly. When they both got tired, the air flowing beneath their feet disappeared and they both laid down still chuckling from the silly game of tag they played. "That was fun." Taka remarked. "It's my first time.." Blythe said still giggling. "First time?" "Ahuh. Playing tag.." "I see. Then, do you wanna play with me often?" "Yeah. That'd be nice.." she said with a smile. "Let's go back to my mansion! I'll introduce you to my friends!" Taka said and without hearing Blythe's response, he pulled her wrist and ran towards a big house just in front of the green forest. "Your highness!" The young Ken exclaimed as Duke, Vivien, and Olivia looked at where Kenny stared. They were all wearing different types of monster costume. "Guys! This is-" "..." Taka stopped on his words as he never asked Blythe her name. "I'm Blythe... nice to meet you." She said, gracefully bowing down. "Wow! Your look is amazing!" Kenny said complimenting Blythe, thinking she was wearing a costume just like them. "Thank you." "Your highness, where were you? I thought the treasure hunt will only be near the mansion." "Well, I found something better than treasure.." He said looking at Blythe with a smile who smiled at him back like she knew what he was thinking. "Miss Blythe... would you do the honor?" "With.. pleasure. Wind of Taikiki!" She casted as everyone's feet lifted from the ground. Soon enough, they were all playing tag and other games while being in the air. And when they got tired, Blythe placed their feet back on the ground. "That was super fun!" Olivia said chuckling. "Y-Yeah. I g-guess it wasn't too bad." Vivien commented. "Ah, by the way! I found this book while we were doing the treasure hunt!" Kenny said while everyone's attention focused on the picture book he held. "Princess!" A voice behind them called out. "Lance? Oh my, what happened to you?" Blythe said as he found Lance out of breath and sweating. What...What are a bunch of kids from different clans doing in human territories!? He thought as he pulled Blythe's arm. "Princess, we need to go. Everyone is looking for you." He whispered to her. "Awe. can I stay a little bit more just to finish the story?" She said pouting. Lance couldn't dare to say no to her plea not because he felt sorry but because he was curious himself. "F-Fine." He seemingly gave in as he sat in the circle the group created. "Queen Mirasol and The Doom of The World? Borriiinnggg" Vivien said rolling her eyes. "Now, now, Viv. Maybe the content is interesting you know?" Vivien was always the type to not consider everybody's opinion except for Olivia who has been her friend ever since. So, she just pouted as the others read the story. After they all read, the fell in silence. "What does it mean?" "I told you guys it would be boring!" Vivien said not being able to hold her tongue. "Nevertheless, it was nice reading with you guys!" Blythe said with her smile from ear to ear. "Tch. I'm out. Olivia, let's go play at my house. I'm sick of this royal costume party." She said as she took off the fake horns in her head. "Huh..." Blythe's complexion became pale as Lance's eyes widen. "Are you okay, Miss?" "You don't look so good." "She... took off her horn...?" "What do you mean? hahahaha don't be silly, Miss!" Kenny said as he took off his with Duke and Olivia. "Can't you take off yours?" Kenny added. ....What...? H-H-Humans....? Blythe backed up from the circle as Lance jolted as well. "Y-Y-You... tricked me. Hah... just like any other human... you trick others. You sick species." Blythe said as the ground shook. The clouds grumbled with thunder and lightning. Crickets in a swarm flew around while a strong wind surround their area. "What...the hell?" Vivien blurted out. "W-What's going on?" Taka asked. Soon enough, knights marched to where they were holding swords in a combat position. "Protect the Prince!!!" A knight who looked much higher than the others commanded as they encircle Blythe. Lance was still dumbfounded not by the surprising fact that the kids they read with were actually humans but because of the amount of spells Blythe casted at the same time. It was possible to cast only two or three but more than that would mean that the body could disintegrate from overuse of mana especially if they had A knight tried to approached Blythe from behind and swung his sword. "Don't!" Taka yelled out but Blythe saw that coming. The knight felt the air choke him and everybody dashed to attack Blythe as she killed them one by one. "Make the kids go inside!" The commander said again but Blythe caught up to them as a much stronger wind created a turnado that separated all of them. Lance was horrified. He tried to reach out for her hand but then, she had this face that she could murder anyone who comes her way. When no one else was standing anymore, her feet landed on the ground as the kids she played with were now on the brink of death. Serves them...right. .... "....!" Blythe blinked as she stood in the middle of the green forest. It was a lot for her to sink in. The bush rustled as the Taka showed up in front of her much like earlier. The same face... and the same reaction. She grit her teeth. How could he make a fool out of her? She was about to cast a fire spell towards him when.."I-I think you look amazing. You're a real demon, aren't you?" What...? She was sure it was the same place as what she saw in her vision. But how was it that he knew she was a demon from the start? "How do you know that?" She said with a cold expression. "Well, I saw you tuck your wings in earlier." If he saw it then that would mean that the Taka in her vision knew she wasn't human at all but still played with her anyway despite that fact. but why....? "Are you not scared? I am an enemy of yours..." "Why would I be? You have not done anything that would be make me fear you." "But... my countrymen killed hundreds of your people in battle!" Blythe argued. "But... you didn't do that, did you?" Taka said with a smile. It hit Blythe. Those words... sound exactly like what Touya had taught her. It didn't occur to her that she would learn the meaning behind his words so fast. What was she gonna do now? She could change what would happen and just ignore Taka's existence. But her resolve was already shaken by this boy that stood right in front of her. Her past... they were different people with ugly personalities she could say that but there also a point where she was thankful because a classmate helped her clean her desk. An old woman helped her pick up her groceries that fell on the floor. And her neighbor who goes to another school that gave her dreams and comforted her every time she cried... what was his name? "Ta..kashi.." She blurted out. "Hm? It's not Takashi, miss. It's Taka. As in the royal crown prince T-A-K-A." "Pfft." She laughed. And for the first time, it didn't matter whether the kid infron of her was human or not. Instead of changing the future, she let the same things happen again as she fully enjoyed the timeline twice. "I told you guys it would be boring!" "Nevertheless, it was nice reading with you guys!" "Tch. I'm out. Olivia, let's go play at my house. I'm sick of this royal party." This time, Vivien did not take of her horns. "Blythe, I think it's time to go. Everyone is looking for us now." Lance said. "Yes, I think so, too." Blythe and Lance's wings appeared that stunned everyone. "W-Wait! Are you going already? Can we meet again?" "We'll meet again. I'm sure of it." She said as she and Lance took off towards the green forest. When they got back, the adults were furious after finding out what happened. The news didn't go out of the palace but they had to do something. The leaking mana of Blythe could be felt 10 kilometers away. So, like they always do... they erased her memories and sealed her mana and magic. Lance was transported to the human world demon quarter where he learned to act and live like a human being. When he found out that they were erasing her memories, he quickly told Blythe but she didn't say anything. Maybe she understood that everyone is out to protect her and she trusted her parents and Touya but even so, Lance promised her that he would retrieve her memories. When the flugel king found out about him trying to meddle with the royal affairs, he deported Lance to study the ways of the humans, unable to see her again but the continuous courting to the royal family was consistent. When the king decided that she would study in an academy for humans, Blythe wondered why that thought didn't bother her. Maybe she was already receiving too much love that the hate she has for humanity had eventually disappeared. But sometimes, she wondered what if there was something more to it? She didn't dwell so much in it and decided to continue living the present without worrying too much. --- Crisella barged into the office of principal Aiwell who was busy with his papers. The worried look on her face followed by her trying to catch her breathe, which made the principal stop writing and held his pen. "Fifty thousand.. there are..Fifty thousand demons on their way to here! Principal! What do we do!?" Crisella said, obviously scared out of her life. "They bugged Touya so that when he comes to Blythe again, they would know. Those sneaky bastards!" Aiwell yelled, stomping his hand on his desk. "First, don't tell the students about this. Evacuate them all to the main city as well as the citizens in the nearby towns." Aiwell instructed. "The human and demon kingdom... against fifty thousand demon rebels. It must be a blood bath there right now. The soldiers from both kingdom would eventually be exhausted. Prepare for code red. We will face a very dangerous battle. " Aiwell said at the far distance on his window. The night grew deeper as blood stains made trails of the twenty thousand demons route to the Academy. A disastrous battle awaits as the fate of the entire kingdom lies within the hands of the demon princess, Blythe. To be continued
