Diego POV
As I woke up to the sound of my parents' laughter, I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the drowsiness. I looked around, noticing something was different. My parents were never home, let alone acting all lovey-dovey. I was confused, wondering what could have changed.
I got out of bed and made my way down the stairs, still in a daze. As I approached the living room, I noticed my parents sitting on the couch, holding hands, and giggling like school kids.
"Good morning, Diego," my mom greeted me with a smile.
"Morning, Mom. Morning, Dad," I responded, trying to keep my tone light. "What's going on? Why are you guys home so early and why are you so lovey-dovey?"
My dad chuckled. "It's a long story, son. We'll fill you in later. For now, let's just enjoy this moment."
I nodded, but I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. My parents had always been at odds with each other, and now they were acting like they were in love. It was surreal.
I decided to let it go for the moment and sat down with them for breakfast. As we ate, I couldn't help but wonder what had caused this sudden change in my parents. I made a mental note to ask them later, but for now, I was just going to enjoy this moment of peace.
I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. I decided to call Lucas and fill him in on the strange behavior of my parents. As I waited for him, I couldn't help but wonder what could have caused such a drastic change in my parents' relationship.
Finally, Lucas answered the phone, and I quickly filled in on what was happening. "Dude, my parents are acting so weird. They're lovey-dovey, and it's freaking me out," I told him.
Lucas was just as shocked as I was. "What could have caused such a drastic change?" he asked.
I shrugged, "I don't know, man. I tried asking them, but they wouldn't give me a straight answer."
Lucas suggested that we talk about it more when I picked him up for school. I agreed and hung up the phone. As I drove to his house, my mind was buzzing with different theories about what could have caused the sudden change in my parents' behavior.
When I finally arrived at Lucas' house, he was waiting for me outside. We got into the car, and I filled him in for the rest of my morning. As we drove to school, we brainstormed different theories and tried to make sense of what was happening.
It was going to be a long day at school, but I was eager to find out what was going on with my parents.
I arrived at school with Lucas and as we pulled into the parking lot, I noticed Tiffany standing by her car, scowling. I asked Lucas if he had seen Brittany, but he shook his head. I approached Tiffany, hoping she would give me some information, but as soon as she saw me, her expression turned sour.
"What do you want, Diego?" she spat, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Just wanted to know if you've seen Brittany," I said, trying to keep my cool.
"Oh, she's around," Tiffany said, rolling her eyes. "But I wouldn't expect her to be in any mood to see you. Not after what you did to her yesterday."
"What are you talking about?" I asked, starting to feel a knot form in my stomach.
"You really don't know, do you?" Tiffany asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I thought you two were so close. But it looks like she's keeping secrets from you now."
"Tiffany, just tell me what's going on," I said, feeling my patience starting to wear thin.
"You can ask her yourself," Tiffany said, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "I have better things to do than babysit you two."
With that, she climbed into her car and sped off, leaving me standing there, frustrated and confused. I turned to Lucas, who just shrugged his shoulders.
"She's always like that," he said. "But don't let her get to you. We'll find Brittany and figure out what's going on."
I nodded, still feeling uneasy. I had a feeling this day was going to be a long one.
As I approached Brittany, I asked Lucas to give us a moment alone and he nodded, excusing himself.I could see the pain and sadness in her eyes. I sat down beside her and put a comforting arm around her. "Brit, what happened? Why are you crying?" I asked softly. "Brit, what happened? Why are you crying?" I asked softly. She sniffled and looked at me, "It's nothing, Diego," she replied, trying to hide her emotions.
"Come on, you can tell me. What's going on?" I pressed on. She sniffled and wiped away her tears. "It's just my sister," she said, her voice trembling. "She's always causing trouble. Yesterday, Drake came to our house and she tried to get his attention. But he insisted on talking to me alone and they got into a fight."
I could feel my anger rising. Why did Tiffany always have to cause problems for Brittany? She was her sister and should have been there for her, not trying to get in the way of her happiness.
"What did Drake want to talk to you about?" I asked, trying to keep my cool.
"He wanted to ask me out on a date," Brittany said, her voice barely above a whisper.
I felt my blood boil. I knew that I had to do something about this. I couldn't just stand by and watch as someone tried to come between Brittany and me.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. "Brit, I want you to know that I'm here for you," I said, giving her hand a squeeze. "I'm not going to let anyone come between us. You can always count on me."
Brittany looked up at me, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Diego," she said, a small smile appearing on her face. I stood up and offered my hand to help her up. "Come on, let's go to class. We can talk more about this later."
As we walked towards our classroom, I couldn't help but feel a sense of determination. I was going to protect Brittany, no matter what. And I was going to make sure that Tiffany and Drake knew that they couldn't come between us.
