Chapter 10

Silver’s POV

I had been so scared to leave my room since the incident, I stayed locked up like a prisoner and my newly found friend Jane would always bring food to my room. I had explained everything that happened to her and she asked Did he hit you?

No, he didn't.

She shook her head in disapproval.

“Well we can't worry about that right now, Silver”

“The celebration is in 7 hours and you need to get ready”

But, I don't want to go, don't I have a choice? I say rolling my eyes but Jane ignores me.

Today is the day I am going to make my move, the Dark Howl Palace would be so busy and nobody would notice my escape. O am going to run as far as I can, away from the nothingness of my life.

I can start afresh once I get my head straight.

Jane helped me pick out a dress, had to get there early this time hence Jane was going to feel the heat from Alpha Lucian, I didn't want to implicate so I had to follow her steps.

I can see her displeasure at the dresses as she flings them to one corner.

“Calm down, Jane. It's just a dress, I can go with anyone. Stop getting all worked up, I don't mind”

I adjust my placement on the chair.

We should go to the designer's store, Silver. Let's get a move on it, if Lucian finds out you're not appropriately dressed, it's going to stir up another squabble.

But something in me wanted to start him up so bad, I wanted to push him to the point of pain that he sent me out himself in his desperation to make sure I acted properly, he had dished out stern instructions to Jane of which I must follow, how I must walk, how I must sit and warms that I should never get in a conversation with anyone.

I understood that I needed to do this for Jane so I decided to get off my butt. On our way to the store, I had a long thought about this, I have decided to annoy, incite, and disappoint Lucian to the point he decides I'm not fit to be seen around him and his family. I will gladly pack up my things and leave.

At the store we still didn't find anything that caught Jane’s fancy, I guess it had to do with something Alpha Lucian had told her.

“ It’ll be okay Jane. You must cease worrying so much about me.

” Jane looks at me, eyes dull, she tries to open up her mouth to speak but words fail her.

We head straight to work with whatever we would find back at home.

We started sourcing for what I could wear, this time I was actively helping Jane, and while at it there was a bang on the door interrupting us.

“ Are you expecting someone?”

I was just as ignorant as she was. Aside from Lucian, Jane was the only one in the palace who was allowed to come into my room. Lucian has avoided me like a plague since our last meeting.

Jane opens the door and two girls walk in wearing pleasant smiles on their faces and rolling a moveable wardrobe filled with dresses, I was having a Deja Vu when Jane strolled into my room with a moveable wardrobe, how quickly time flies.

The wardrobe was filled with lots of beautiful dresses and pieces of jewelry and footwear. I stare at Jane and she nods, her smile twice as bright.

“Hello, Silver”

One of the girls said to me, that she was clothed in a turquoise shirt which she pied with plain black pants and black knee-high boots. Her hair was styled in a ponytail, and her makeup was barely recognizable but it suited her perfectly. I could tell that she was a fashion expert with the way she carried herself.

“ My name is Christiana Hanson and I will be your assistant in preparation for today's celebration. Everything you require, from your gown to your cosmetics and your shoes, we are at your service and we got you covered” Her stance is tall and she doesn't waiver nor fret as she speaks.

“ No.” Jane immediately responded, her expression placid with confusion. So yes we were on the same page.

“ Alpha Lucian had requested that I come here immediately and be of assistance, I'm surprised he didn't let you know” Christiana speaks.

After a mess-up, he tries to be nice, maybe he's not being nice this time, he's scared that'll embarrass him. He figured how reluctant I'd be to attend this celebration and if I missed it ALPHA Alpha Devon won't be happy about it.

“We have a lot to do, Silver, please let's get to work to avoid being behind time,” Christiana says as the other girl lays up all the beautiful gowns waiting for me to try them on.

Thankfully, this wasn't stressful for me as I loved playing dress up, that's like a crazy obsession, I've never had a lot of clothes to try on so I've always wished that I had clothes to try on and combined the colors to see the result.

A few hours later

I must acknowledge that Christiana was a robot in this Job, she was explicit and very professional, safe to say she is perfect at her Job.

She chose a royal blue silky gown, it was almost too long for me but that was the trick I guess, it was paired with Silver accessories, These accessories looked like they would have cost a fortune, but why give them to me?

This wasn't the time to think about what ifs and whatnot, I reckoned that I looked absolutely stunning, I couldn't even recognize myself, I looked in the mirror and I saw a queen whom I hadn't met before and that queen was me. My hair was rolled, the edges placed neatly and a crown placed at the center of my rolled-up hair, I could look like this every day.

Jane was grinning from ear to ear, she was pleased with the finished work, it was nothing short of perfection, I should have kissed Christiana right now but instead, I went in for a hug and gently said thank you. She didn't seem so pleased with me but of course I could care less, I dismissed her.

“ You look spectacular Silver!! Oh, my word.” Jane shouted with Joy. I didn’t recognize that I was also beaming with excitement as well.

“ No one is going to be a way to look away from you, tonight Lucian will look at you differently. He's going to feel a tingling when he sees you and even your sister will be mesmerized”

My heart drops, I remember that Tiffany and Alpha Damien are going to be present, I am sad again, but at the same time glad, it wouldn't hurt to act like I'm treated nicely, and it wouldn't hurt to make Tiffany feel stupid and maybe Alpha Damien for once will look at me in another way and will see what he had lost.

Jane quickly rushed up her make-up as it was almost time, while she struggled to put on her shoes, we heard a bang on the door

Jane looks pretty in her purple gown, it is tight and accentuates her curve, her hair we packed in one neat bun, yes she was rocking this outfit. I couldn't pull the simple yet classy look, but she did effortlessly,

The bang came again and I knew it was time to go, I took deep and heavy breaths, and I walked out of the room bumping right into Lucian who had been standing up impatiently by the door, he was accompanied by two other men.

Lucian's expression changes again when he sets his eyes on me, he runs his eyes over my body without any iota of shame, I know this look, it's stuck in my head, and I can't forget it. I let him take in all of my beauty before snapping him out of it.

“ Uhm..Shall we?

I reckon Jane is right as I see that he wouldn't dare take his eyes off me tonight.

“ Yes, we’re already late.” He says, trying to adjust his necktie that was already perfectly fit in the right position.

Lucian was dressed in a black tuxedo with a royal blue shirt, I scoffed, at my realization that we were matching.

We could have been a power couple if he had any sense of love.

“I'm sure Jane has run you over all of your agenda for today, especially the part where you're not allowed to speak or make jokes with anybody,” he says as we step into the car.

As much as I disliked Lucian. His fierce look and command of power would make any girl hungry to have him for herself. Any woman that didn't know who he truly is, not me though cause I know him past his charades.

Nicholas was dressed in a black tuxedo which was paired with a royal blue tie, our colors matching.

“ And why is that ? ” it was getting obvious that he had a knack for protocols and orders being followed exactly how he wanted it. He had an addiction to power and loved nothing more than to be in control.

Most Alphas were born this way but Lucian's own was unbearable, the only person he fears to date is his father. I can't blame him, I'd be scared too.

“If you want the people of Dark Howl to discover that you are wolfless, then be my guest, they'll sense it within a few seconds, they are trained to manipulate and read minds, that is where all the big shots are, trust me, you won’t last there” He threatens.

Not that I cared about anything, I had my own goal for tonight and I am completely focused on achieving that. But I had to lay low, I didn't want any more drama.

“ I thought so too,” Lucian says in an attempt to mock me, but he has absolutely nothing on me.

The car halts in front of the Dark Howl Palace, I am a bit worried about how today might go but as usual, I lit up a smile on my face.

“Do not forget all I said” Lucian reminds me taking hasty steps away from me.

I understand the gravity of what today meant to him, if I embarrass him today, his father may and everyone will see him as weak.

Not only was it a huge risk for him, it was also riskier for me.

But, I wasn't about to obey this man who has proven to be a chameleon, as long as disobeying him was going to annoy him, then oh please I would do that.

I was going to make sure that he ran out of patience having me around.
