“Grace! Grace! Come here, hurry and help your mother!”
“Yes mom!”
I pulled the trunk at the car and grabbed the other luggage. My mother had already put the rest at the living room. I trembled as I struggled to carry it on my own. Just then my mother came in and grabbed the rest of the heavy luggage, “Do you need help?” She asked me.
I nodded as we swiftly went inside our home. I sniffed the fresh air and sighed, “I'm back home!”
Walking around the living room, I plopped onto the couch and spread my arms. “Ah... The smell of ancient houses.”
My mother jolts as she turns her head, “This house isn't ancient. It's just designed traditionally. Now come in here and eat the food I cooked for you.”
I chuckled as I got up and went towards the table, my mother smiled as she leaned on the sink, she grabbed a newspaper and read it thoroughly. I drank some water and sat down as I ate the food. My mother lowered the newspaper and stared at me eating.
“Grace... Do you wanna... Go to school?” She asks. I flinched upon hearing it. I perked my head and beamed, “C-can I..??”
My mother had nodded as I jumped in joy. “Be careful with your food!” Said mother.
My mother had told me to check out my old room, and as I opened the door to my room, I was flushed with nostalgia. Though the room was empty, it was cleaned out by my mother before we moved back in. I was happy to see my room once again. But then, I had thought... “The room got tinier...”
I went back downstairs and saw my mom sitting on the couch with coffee on the desk beside her, she was wearing her glasses and reading newspaper. Sitting with her legs crossed. I walked towards the kitchen and opened the fridge. The sound of the fridge opening had made my mother noticed, she tilted her head, “Grace?”
I bumped my head on top of the fridge as I scratched my head in pain, my mother jolted as she approached me, “Oh Grace. You should be careful.” She sighed.
I nodded as I turned my head to my side, noticing the newspaper she had dragged.
“New school opening..?'”
“? Oh..! Yes, that's right, I've been looking at schools nearby.”
“....”
“If that's okay with you, is all--... Grace?”
I had already noticed that my eyes were beaming so much that my mother could notice. She patted my head and closed the refrigerator door. “Next time, just tell me whether you're hungry or not.” She advised. I nodded as I smiled widely.
The next day, my mother went on a jog early in the morning, I could hear her preparing to wear her shoes, as I peeked on the wall. My mom didn't knew I was awake at 4 in the morning. As she was about to close the door, I immediately went to the kitchen. I opened the refrigerator door and took out the ice cream I was saving when we got here. I opened the lid and began to eat it. I turned my head around and could see that the kitchen was already put with appliances beside the sink.
I turned my head back around towards the living room and could see that it was already well-decorated. My mother had spent the entire night unpacking. I decided to go upstairs and check her room. Her old book collections and other decorations were there as well. I went back downstairs, I plopped on the couch and turned on the tv. I could hear a loud thump outside. I peeked my head on the window, and saw that there was a new neighbor moving in.
