Chapter 2

STAY AWAY It was twelve o'clock when I returned to the office of Mr. Del Fierro. There was no trace of what happened earlier, so I thought maybe it was just my imagination. The clutter is gone and there are no people. I just cleaned the office of Mr. Del Fierro but I can't help but have flashbacks whenever I see the scene. That night I could hardly sleep. I will never forget what I saw there. I can't get the woman's moans out of my mind while she was doing that. I can't get their movements out of my mind. I was wide awake the next morning. I still can't get rid of what happened, but I had to put it away. I left the building to buy rice at a fast food. It's hard, I have a lot of things I need. I need my own plate, spoon, fork, and glass. Fortunately, there are those here at the Lounge, so I borrowed them first. The crew has arrived. I met many people but most of them were old people. I met Mang Carding, Aling Nenita, and many others. Almost all of them are familiar and old. There is also someone like Mia who is just my age but they are also elusive. "My grandson will be baptized later so I will finish cleaning early today." Mang Carding laughed. I was surprised because I knew Mang Carding was old but I didn't expect that he had a grandson! "Do you have a grandchild? It's not obvious!" I said with a smile. Other crews are listening to us. Someone is already taking things like a mop, trash can, and so on. "You know the kids these days, Sunny." Aling Nenita sighed. "Yes, well. My daughter is only sixteen, she already has a child." Mang Carding laughed and shook his head. "There's nothing we can do, it's already happened." I swallowed. Mang Carding's daughter is still young and she already has a child. For some unknown reason I keep thinking about what happened last night. I shook my head and started picking up a mop next to Mia. Only half day on Saturday. I just clean it a little because no one comes in on weekends. The only people who come in are those who have important things to do and those who have unfinished business. "I'm done!" Said a man who was the first to arrive. He cleans the mop and takes the plastic to put it in the trash can at the bottom. While I was getting my things, I was thinking if Mr. Del Fierro are in his office right now? Mia licked her lips back and forth after applying lipstick. She was looking at me as if she wanted to say something. "Sunny..." She faced me. I looked at her while pushing my cart with just a mop. "Are you doing something tonight?" she asked. I shook my head. "Nothing." She grinned and quickly came to me. "I have a part time job every Friday and Saturday." she said. She looks like a child excited about the story to be told. My eyebrows meet in surprise. If it's about selling my body, I wouldn't want it right away, but a part time job to earn money arouses my curiosity. "What kind part time job is that?" "In Marlboro." she said. "Marlboro?" I winced at Auntie's cigarette brand. "Yes. We'll sell cigarettes in bars. Because you can. You have long legs and they are smooth. You're already qualified! Hmm but..." She frowned as she took her cart. We went out to the lounge together and waited for the elevator to go up. "What? What to do?" "We will sell cigarettes in big bars everywhere. We are a group of women. We will wear their clothes. The short ones? Then we will sell in high end bars. You are the only one I can offer this kind of work because you you know the others are old and need something a little younger. One thousand a night." My jaw dropped when she said money. I can't believe the money I can get for it! I'm very short of money now and getting another thousand again is exciting for me. 15th of the month is a long way off and I'll only get four thousand there so a thousand a night is just so tempting. "Oh? All right!" I said excitedly. "But maybe you can't because you're too young. How old are you?" The elevator rang and I was surprised when the person inside was Mr. Del Fierro with his cousins Logan and Brandon. They were talking and it was interrupted when we went inside. Mia was stunned so I had to pull her so we could enter and go to our floors. Mia's eyes widened as we entered and the elevator closed. "Where's your floor miss?" Brandon asked behind us. Mia and I are both in the front. Brandon stepped in front of us and Mr. Del Fierro stepped aside. "I'm 40th. I don't know about Mia. Mia?" "30th in F-Finance." She stammered. I kept quiet and bowed. From the corner of my eyes I could see the gaze of Mr. Del Fierro to me. I didn't immediately process what he was wearing. Unlike yesterday when he was very formal, today he is wearing black shorts and a white v neck t shirt. I looked at his shoes with a big check on the side. The five of us are quiet. I remained bowed and Mr.'s Del Fierro eyes remained to me. Is he really looking at me? Or maybe he was staring at Mia by my side? He folded his arms. With that movement of his, I slowly looked at him and I was surprised when his heavy eyes were staring at me. I almost stopped breathing and quickly bent down again. Why is he staring at me? I heard a laugh behind me and I knew it was Logan because he was the only one behind me and Mia. The elevator rang and opened. I saw a Financial Dept. at the top and Mia next to me who still didn't move because she was so shocked. What is surprising about this? "Mi-" I elbowed her. She jumped up and quickly left there.Brandon snorted at what Mia did. I could see her red face as she left. My eyes widened when I realized that I hadn't answered her. "Mia! I'm twenty! I can do it!" I said and she nodded before the elevator door closed. My heart is still beating fast because of the last thing I said to Mia. Do I look like a child in her eyes? Yeah well, I just turned twenty. "Oh, you're twenty, Sunny?" Logan behind me asked. I looked at him and smiled. "Yes, Sir. I just turned twenty." "Don't call me sir anymore. I'm not your boss. Rage and I are just cousins." He said and turned to Mr. Del Fierro. I nodded and looked away from Mr. Del Fierro. I can't look at him because I remember what happened last night. I tightened my grip on the cart while waiting on the 40th floor. I noticed that the three of them were actually wearing sports attire. Brandon also had a large bag with a large check. I looked up and waited again. I just wandered my eyes to the corners of the elevator. "I said I won't be here." Brandon said and folded his arms. "Come on, dude. Just until next week." Logan said behind me. "I'm leaving. I have a gig here tomorrow that's why I'm here." Brandon said. While they were talking, I was aware of Rage's eyes on my side. If only the elevator hadn't rang and the door opened, I would have thought he's in a dazed. I was surprised when he first came out. Every step he took was fast and hard as he threw the bag on the sofa. He went straight to his table. I pushed the cart and thought about where to start. Maybe I'll just wipe the window. I looked at the large mirrors from the ceiling to the floor. That's probably what I'll do. "You're annoying." Logan said. Brandon laughed. "Rage is here, anyway. Don't be a baby, Logan." The two teased. It looks like Mr. Del Fierro doesn't talk very much. I turned to his desk and saw his two hands resting on it as he stood and looked at me. His gaze fell when I caught him looking. I just looked at the wiper and glass cleaner in my hand. What's that? Why is he looking? "Damn, Rage. You don't have water in your fridge?" Brandon said tiredly as he looked inside Rage's large refrigerator. "What?" Logan shouted and approached the refrigerator standing on the far side. "I forgot." Mr. Del Fierro said firmly. "I'll just have it delivered here." He said and quickly put the phone to his ear. I got a high stool and to start cleaning the glass. Mr. Del Fierro. It doesn't suit him to be called that. It looks like our ages are not too far apart. It's ridiculous that he is already talking about the stock market at that age. It's really different when you're born rich. No more problems with work and money. But Rage... suits him because he always looks angry. I was irritated by my big and rather baggy pants. Maybe later when I step on the stool, I will stumble because of this. Rage, huh? "Rage, how long will that take? I'm going to get dehydrated." Brandon said. "Wait for me downstairs, then! I'm checking the database. The water will take a while." Rage said coldly while looking at something on his laptop. He saw me looking at him again so he looked at me again. I immediately looked away. Logan was already laughing and he seemed to be whispering something to Brandon. "Oh no, you don't-" Brandon said laughing. "Jesus, Brandon! Just get out of my office and drink your milk downstairs! I'll follow you in fifteen minutes!" Rage said. Logan giggled as he grabbed his bag and hit the elevator. Brandon was lazily walking and even taunting Rage. "Go away!" Rage said while typing on his laptop. "Whatever you say, cousin." Brandon said and followed Logan into the elevator. They both laugh. There is no denying that the two is indeed a cousin. They have strange foreign features on their faces that I can't describe. Brandon's eyes are a different color, he is tall, he has a large body, a sharp nose and a beautiful smile. Logan, on the other hand, has hair that looks like no matter how messy he is, the outcome is still good, his eyes are expressive especially when he smiles. It is obvious that he has captivated many women because of that. And of course... Rage... "You were here last night?" I jumped at his question. I lowered the wiper and pretended to wash it while answering him. "Yes. Cleaning." I said emphatically. A deafening silence enveloped us. I saw him close his laptop. He took something from the drawer and wrote something on the paper. I got off the stool to clean the bottom of the glass. It's hard to clean his office because of the size of the glasses. "Don't lie to me, Sunny." He said coldly so I looked at him. He was now standing and leaning in front of his desk. He folded his arms and looked directly at me. That's where the incident happened last night with his... his girlfriend! I blinked when I remembered that again. His gaze darkened even more. "You saw me." He said. I fumble for words. He didn't look at me last night, it's impossible that he saw me. How did he see me? I do not know. "Mrs. Ching said there was no one here at ten o'clock so I went up at 10:15." I explain. He stepped closer to the sofa and picked up his bag. Well done, Sunny! You've only just started and it looks like that Rage bastard will get you fired! Well done! and now, I'm going out and I'm going to look for a newspaper to lay on Luneta for bed tonight! "I-I won't tell anyone what I saw, Sir. I don't care what you and your girlfriend do. Next time, I'll go upstairs at eleven to make sure." I said quickly in fear that he would reject me for this job. "Stay away." He said. "Last night..." He swallowed. "I can't sleep because I know you're looking at me while I'm doing that to her. I can't sleep thinking about you. And she's not my girlfriend. I don't have a girlfriend, Sunny." Shit! Did I make a mistake? I'm really dead! He might sue me for libel for saying things that are not true. "I'm sorry, I didn't know that wasn't your girlfriend, Sir. What I did will never happen again. I won't tell anyone else either." I said and my whole system was shaking in fear of losing my job! Rage's eyes narrowed and his jaw tightened. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Just stay the f**k away." My eyes widened and I watched him leave his office like he was burned. He hasn't fired me yet. Stay away, that's all he told me! Thank God!
