CHAPTER THREE
SAVIOUR OR BULLY?
Aria's POV.
So many questions burst through my head as I stared at Jaxton, completely lost.
'What the hell was he saying?' I pondered as I felt my palms growing sweaty.
"Killian isn't my father but my brother. Our father died some years back and Killian transformed into him, taking the reins." Jaxton further explained and I could feel my jaw dropping.
"Impossible." I muttered under my breath but he caught it and stared into my eyes with his dim blue orbs and I saw no trace of lies.
Jaxton was everything but a liar too.
"So you guys have been tricking everyone?" I took a deep breath, trying to digest this new piece of information as I watched Jaxton take a seat on the chair opposite me.
"Not really. The council agreed to Killian's idea. It was supposed to protect our realm from invaders." Jaxton placed a hand under his chin.
"By believing your father was still alive? So that appearance doesn't belong to him? But how? Wolves don't change appearances that easily." I pointed out and Jaxton let out a chuckle.
"You really think so?" He asked, looking amused and I nodded.
"Our household/Pack is by far the strongest in this realm for a reason." Jaxton began and I leaned forward in curiosity.
"And that is?"
"Dark magic. We harness it within our wolf." Jaxton revealed and I felt my eyes widening a bit.
"Really!" I exclaimed in disbelief and Jaxton nodded.
"Yes. How do you think I got you and Alex out of his presence?" Jaxton inquired and I paused.
That was true. One minute he was fighting with Alpha Killian and the next minute, he was right in front of me, touching Alex and I then disappearing into this fortress.
"Though I am not as perfect in it as Killian is yet but I still know a few tricks." Jaxton smiled and I felt my stomach turning.
All these was happening too fast, literally way too fast. So the handsome devil I had been seeing all these while, thinking he looked too young for his age was their dad's image and not his?
But atleast he could have told us the truth since I was to be his sister-in-law or rather, he wanted me for himself unless he looked hideous in real form.
"So, how does Alpha Killian really look?" I asked Jaxton who seemed lost in thoughts.
"I can't remember. The last time I saw him in his real appearance was when Dad died and he performed the dark magic. I was pretty young then and was grieving as well so I really have no memory." Jaxton told me and for some unknown reasons, I felt disappointment clawing at my heart.
'What was this?' I pondered in shock, hating that I was feeling weird.
"I am sorry. You are at crossroads with your brother now all because of me." I bowed my head.
"Don't apologize." Jaxton spoke sharply and I raised my head up to notice his eyes turning red from blue.
A gasp escaped my lips because that was a very rare case.
"I originally planned never to let Killian have you. I wish for his death." Jaxton gritted his teeth against one another and a shiver ran down my spine.
"W-what?" I stuttered and the side of Jaxton's lips curled evily, almost making me jumpy.
"Yes. I believe he killed my father because he found out the man wanted to leave the throne behind for me instead of him, a bastard." Jaxton growled and I went pale.
"Wait! Are you saying Alpha Killian is a....?" I paused, unable to complete it because it sounded so unbelievable.
"Yes. He is a bastard. His maid was a servant that seduced my father when he was still the crown prince and tried framing him to his death." Jaxton narrated and I began to breathe heavily.
'f**k! So many revealations in a day.' I thought in awe as I stared at Jaxton who was now biting his nails aggressively.
From what I knew since we obviously attended the same highschool was that he only did that when he was angry or frustrated.
"The councils only agreed to help him pretend to be my father because he threatened their family. He was that powerful and most of it came from eating my father's heart." Jaxton revealed and I felt bile rushing to my throat.
'How could Killian be so evil and disgusting?' I wondered even though a part of me didn't want to believe what Jaxton just told me.
But I had to because he had no reason to lie right?
"According to the Intel I got from one of my people in the palace, Killian is actively searching for you at the moment. Seems your friends are being interrogated as well." Jaxton began and my heart skipped a beat in fear.
"Why aren't you turning me to him? Why risk almost everything for me?" I questioned as I felt a huge lump at the back of my throat.
"I already told you why. I want to get revenge and claim my rightfully place on the werewolf throne." Jaxton sneered and I looked away.
"Also you are my mate." He added softly and I could feel my pulse quickening.
"What do you plan on doing with me? I know I owe you for saving both I and Alex's life, how do you want me to pay back?" I questioned as I turned back to look at him only to see him staring at me intensely.
Saliva gathered in my mouth and I gulped them down.
"Simple. Let's both take our revenge together. He killed my father while he killed your parents and almost finished off your twin. Surely you are not planning on forgiving him." Jaxton smirked and a feeling of dread went through me.
Why do I feel like I made a mistake coming here?
"He didn't just kill your parents. I heard he fed their bodies to the dogs. My men tried collecting them for a proper burial but were too late." Jaxton sighed while I sat there, stunned.
Anger burned through my veins as I dug my nails into the blanket, feeling my eyes sting with tears.
"Why?" I wanted to scream but choked on my sobs rather as Jaxton watched me with a blank expression.
I had no idea what he was thinking but I was sure it had to do with that I seemed so pitiful.
"Alright. I want him dead but how do we go about that? You implied yourself that you are weaker than him." I gestured towards Jaxton who gritted his teeth against one another like I had just touched a sore topic and bit back a smirk.
Tit for Tat. I was no fool and knew Jaxton was intentionally telling me details about my parent's dead body to either bait me or see me in pain.
This was one of the ways he used to torture me back in highschool. Too bad I was grown now and had learnt something from him.
"Don't underestimate me." Jaxton growled and I shivered.
"The councils has agreed to help take down Killian. W.." Jaxton was about saying when I cut in.
"But how?"
"Would you let me finish?" He faked a smile at me and I fought the urge not to roll my eyes.
"Well, no one except the councils, I and him knows he is impersonating my dad so once the great realm council gets to know they have been tricked all these years, Killian goes down." Jaxton explained and I thought it through.
He was right. The great realm council had such power and hated being deceived. They were powerful mystical beings, rumored to be selected by the moongoddess herself to bring peace upon the werewolf world.
"How do we expose him?" I suddenly felt thirsty and reached for the glass of water on the tray.
"That's where you come in." Jaxton answered and I spat the water back into the glass.
