Our pup races through the door as Max opens it, Max bends down to grab him but fails. Then Max’s voice booms down the hall. “Levi, get back here.”
I look up as the door closes again. Apparently, Max is going after him. A short time later the door opens again and Levi is complaining loudly, letting out pitiful sounds.
“I’m not listening to you if you’re a wolf.” Max shakes his head, his voice stern, though I can see his amusement in his eyes.
Levi shuts up, looking back at me instead. His ears moving and his tongue slightly out of his mouth. He is not feeling guilty in the least. I reach up and Max hands Levi to me.
