Entwined

Eleven years ago The earthquake which shook the Caribbean to its very core had not been predicted, the citizens of Haiti had been carrying on with their daily chores when it hit. Buildings dating back centuries were collapsing along with civilian homes and government buildings. When it was all over the entire country was in chaos. Many families gone missing or dead, the death rate had exceeded two hundred thousand, in midst of all this chaos someone who hadn’t been there had risen from the rubble, someone who had been asleep for over a millennia, the shift in the land had woken her up, the locals assisted the confused girl mistaking her for one of the tourists. She couldn’t understand their language and the entire place being in chaos didn’t comfort her either. She was lost in the modern world with no idea of what had happened. Present day Her green eyes were unlike anything he had ever seen, it was the most beautiful kind of green he had ever seen, her brown hair was left untied, they reached just below her hips. The teasing smile playing on her lips were mocking him for being so far away. He tried speaking like always but the only thing that could be heard was the constant flow of water from the river behind her. It was going like any other day when for the first time in over a century she opened her mouth and spoke. “your majesty”. Rylan woke up with a gasp, his first instinct was to look around. Alone, he was alone in his room. “she spoke”. He whispered under his breath. Her velvety voice was playing on repeat in his head. Even her voice was beautiful. Running a hand through his hair he got up and walked into the drawing room which had been abandoned for quite some time now. The entire room was full of his paintings, most of them were portraits of her. Rylan stood in front of the one he had finished a few years ago. He had tried his best but nothing seems to do justice to her beauty. Over the years he had wondered if she was real, the witches didn’t have an answer for him but somewhere in his heart he believed she was real. “where are you green?”
