MARTHA'S POV I was at work but I couldn’t not concentrate and my colleagues were starting to get worried about me . While I was deep in thought the ceo Mr Willam’s summoned me to his office and he told me he had concerns about my recent behavior I was always absent minded in meetings and I make a lot of mistakes before I could speak he said I should go on a paid leave just to settle anything bothering me . Words could not express my joy I hurriedly pack my things and I drove home . I walked into the house, expecting to find an empty house . But instead, I found joe standing in the living room, his eyes blazing with anger. "Joe, I-" I started to say, but he cut me off. "Don't even try to explain, Martha. I've seen the papers. I know everything," he spat, his voice venomous I took a step back, feeling a surge of fear. I had never seen Joe like this before. "Joe, please listen to me. Let me explain-" I tried to say, but he wouldn't let me. "You're leaving me for him, aren't you? You're leaving me for Thomas," he accused, his eyes flashing with anger. I nodded, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes. "Joe, I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you," I said, trying to sound sincere. But Joe wasn't having it. He took a step closer to me, his fists clenched. "You're sorry? You're sorry? You're destroying our family, and you're sorry?" he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls. I felt a surge of fear as Joe's face twisted in anger. I tried to back away, but he was too quick. He grabbed my arm, his fingers digging deep into my skin. "You're going to regret this, Martha. You're going to regret leaving me," he hissed, his eyes blazing with anger. And then, without warning, he hit me. His fist connected with my cheek, sending me crashing to the floor. I lay there, stunned and crying, as Joe stood over me, his chest heaving with anger. "You're going to pay for this, Martha. You're going to pay for leaving me," he spat, before turning and walking out of the house. I lay there, feeling broken and alone, as the sound of the door slamming shut echoed through the house.
