Blurb

After being rejected by her fated mate, Lyra escapes her pack with a secret that could change the werewolf world forever.

Three years later, she is no longer the weak orphan girl everyone looked down on. She has a new name, a hidden identity, and a child whose bloodline should never exist.

But when Alpha Kael, the ruthless ruler of the Northern Pack, finds her again, everything she has buried comes back to life.

He once broke her heart.

Now he wants her back.

Lyra refuses to be anyone’s Luna again, especially not his. But danger is closing in, old enemies are hunting her child, and the mate bond between them is far from dead.

Between revenge, desire, betrayal, and a prophecy written in blood, Lyra must decide whether to run forever or stand beside the Alpha who destroyed her.

Because this time, she is not the one who needs saving.

The Night He Rejected Me
The night Kael Blackthorn rejected me, the moon was full. I remembered that clearly. Its silver light poured over the training grounds of the Silver Moon Pack, cold and bright, turning every blade of grass into a thin needle of frost. The entire pack had gathered beneath the moon, dressed in ceremonial black, waiting for their future Alpha to announce his Luna. I stood at the edge of the crowd with my hands clasped tightly in front of me. My palms were sweating. My heart was beating so hard I could barely hear the whispers around me. “She really came?” “Does she think Alpha Kael will choose her?” “An orphan as Luna? Don’t make me laugh.” I lowered my head and pretended not to hear them. I had spent most of my life pretending. Pretending their words did not hurt. Pretending I did not notice when food disappeared from my plate. Pretending I did not care when girls my age stepped away from me like I carried some disease. In the Silver Moon Pack, everyone knew who I was. Lyra Moonstone. The orphan girl. The weak one. The girl without a wolf. But tonight was supposed to change everything. Because Kael Blackthorn was my mate. The bond had appeared three months ago, sharp and undeniable, the moment his hand brushed mine in the pack library. I had felt it like lightning under my skin. My knees had almost given out. My wolf, silent for years, had stirred inside me for the first time. Mate. One word. One impossible miracle. Kael had felt it too. I knew he had. His golden eyes had widened, his fingers tightening around my wrist before he quickly released me. After that, he avoided me. But avoidance was not rejection. At least, that was what I told myself. Tonight, under the full moon, every unmated she-wolf in the pack waited for his announcement. But I already knew the truth. The Moon Goddess had chosen me. No matter what anyone thought, no matter how low they saw me, I was his Luna. A deep drumbeat rolled across the grounds. The crowd fell silent. Kael stepped onto the stone platform. He was twenty-six, tall and broad-shouldered, with midnight-black hair and eyes like molten gold. Power moved around him before he even spoke. Every wolf in the pack felt it and lowered their gaze. My breath caught. The mate bond pulled at me. For one foolish second, I thought he looked at me. Then a hand slipped around his arm. Selene Ashford walked onto the platform beside him. My stomach dropped. Selene was everything I was not. Beautiful. Noble-born. Daughter of the Beta. Her silver dress clung to her body like moonlight. Her red lips curved when she saw me in the crowd. A smile. Small. Cruel. Kael raised his hand. “My pack,” he said, his voice carrying over the silent field, “tonight, under the blessing of the full moon, I announce the she-wolf who will stand beside me when I become Alpha.” The crowd held its breath. I could not move. Could not blink. Kael’s golden eyes swept across the pack. They stopped on me. For one heartbeat, the world disappeared. Then he said, “I choose Selene Ashford as my future Luna.” The cheers exploded like thunder. My heart stopped. Selene covered her mouth as if surprised, but her eyes never left mine. The pack roared her name. “Luna Selene!” “Luna Selene!” “Luna Selene!” My ears rang. No. No, this was wrong. The bond inside my chest twisted violently, like something alive being crushed. I took one step forward before I knew what I was doing. Kael saw me. His jaw tightened. He leaned toward Selene and said something I could not hear. Then he stepped down from the platform and walked through the cheering crowd toward me. Every wolf turned. The whispers began again. I stood frozen as he stopped in front of me. Up close, he smelled like cedar, smoke, and winter rain. My wolf whimpered inside me, reaching for him despite everything. “Lyra,” he said quietly. My throat burned. “Why?” I asked. It was the only word I could force out. His expression did not change, but something flickered in his eyes. Regret? No. I must have imagined it. “You know why,” he said. “I don’t.” His gaze hardened. “A Luna must be strong.” The words struck harder than a slap. Around us, the crowd had gone silent, hungry for every piece of my humiliation. I swallowed. “I am your mate.” A muscle jumped in his cheek. “Do not say that here.” My chest tightened. “Why? Because they’ll hear the truth?” His hand closed around my wrist. Not painfully, but firmly enough to remind me of the difference between us. He was an Alpha’s son. I was nothing. Kael lowered his voice. “The bond was a mistake.” A mistake. The words echoed inside me. My wolf went still. I stared at him, waiting for him to take it back. He did not. Instead, he released my wrist and stepped back. “Lyra Moonstone,” he said, louder this time. The crowd leaned in. My blood turned cold. “I, Kael Blackthorn, future Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, reject you as my mate.” The world shattered. Pain ripped through my chest so violently I gasped. It felt as if invisible claws had torn straight through my ribs and wrapped around my heart. I staggered. Someone laughed. Someone else whispered, “I knew it.” Kael’s face blurred in front of me. The bond between us screamed. My knees hit the ground. He did not reach for me. That hurt most of all. Not the rejection. Not the laughter. Not Selene watching from the platform with victory shining in her eyes. It was Kael standing there, close enough to save me, choosing not to. I pressed a hand to my chest and forced myself to breathe. The old Lyra would have begged. The old Lyra would have cried in front of them. The old Lyra would have asked what she had done wrong. But something inside me broke that night. And from the broken place, something colder was born. I lifted my head. Kael’s eyes narrowed slightly, as if he saw it happen. “I accept,” I whispered. The bond snapped. Agony burned through me, white and endless. But I did not scream. I would never give them that. I pushed myself to my feet. My legs shook, but I stood. Then I looked at Kael Blackthorn, the man the Moon Goddess had given me and the man who had thrown me away. “One day,” I said softly, “you will regret this.” A few wolves laughed. Kael did not. His golden eyes darkened. For a moment, he looked almost angry. Not at himself. At me. As if I had no right to stand after he had tried to break me. I turned before he could say another word. Behind me, the crowd began chanting Selene’s name again. I walked away from the training grounds, away from the full moon, away from the only home I had ever known. No one followed. That night, I packed one small bag. Three shirts. One pair of jeans. My mother’s silver pendant. And the envelope I had hidden under the loose floorboard beneath my bed. Inside it were two things. A faded photograph of my parents. And a letter from my mother, written before she died. I had read it so many times the folds were soft. My dearest Lyra, If your wolf ever wakes, leave Silver Moon. Trust no Alpha. Hide your blood. And never let them take your child. For years, I had not understood the last line. I had no child. I had no future. I had nothing. But as I stood in my tiny room with Kael’s rejection still burning through my body, a sudden wave of dizziness hit me. I grabbed the edge of the dresser, breathing hard. My stomach turned. My senses sharpened. Something inside me pulsed. Small. Faint. Alive. I froze. No. My hand slowly moved to my lower stomach. The room tilted. A sound escaped my throat, half sob, half laugh. The Moon Goddess was cruel. Kael Blackthorn had rejected me in front of the entire pack. And I was carrying his child. By dawn, I was gone.
