The last straw

Alizon P.O.V. Today is a day just like any other day but with a little bit of trouble. Who am I kidding? There's always trouble in this school otherwise It wouldn't be Eagle High. I already told you all about Eve's humiliation yesterday, well my girl Luna took it upon herself to get justice for Eve. She went to the office to report what happened and Jack got into detention. Not because of what he did because, as usual, there was "no witness/proof" but because he called her or better I quote his exact words: "this b***h is lying." So he had to keep Mr. John company in the detention room. It was his first time there not because of his flawless behavior but because no one dares to touch Jack. Son of the mayor. Needless to tell you he did not take it well which explains why he and his little friends decided to take revenge on the b***h who dared sent him in detention for his mischief. He broke into the boutique where Luna works and vandalized the place. "Are you sure he did that?" I ask looking at all the books and other objects in a chaotic jumble.  The walls are daubed with graffiti. A special one caught my attention.  The one on the wall behind the counter. It says 'reap what you sew'  "yes, that asshole did. He told me I'd pay for it yesterday." She sobs which draws my attention from the wall. "Who knew Jackson was into old sayings," I try to make her smile but failed miserably because I only got a glare back from her. "Who's Jackson," asks one of the detectives.  "No one!" Luna answers quickly. Too quick.  "Miss, you do understand that every information is crucial in order to complete this investigation?" She gives a nod of agreement and The detective walks away to the other side of the room. "Why are you protecting him?"  "He's the mayor's son. What do you think they gonna do about it?"  "Nothing! And I will have to pay the consequences. Not again Ali." She walks away to talk to the owner of the shop. I take my phone to snap a picture of the mess because let's be honest it looks less boring and more fun now. I go in the back and take many more pictures of the graffitied walls. This is worth remembering. I take one last tour of the boutique and flop down into the sofa. Now I'm going through my camera roll to see which picture is worthy of occupying a space on my already low storage. I spot a blue light coming from a pile of books, I zoom it in because the lightning effect looks cool But it looks too real to be just an effect produced by my phone camera. I lower the phone and gape at the blue light coming from the piles of books. Just like in the picture. I rise from the sofa and walk closer trying to decipher what is producing the light. I start putting the unimportant books aside until I see the culprit of the light. It's seemed to be a very large, old book with a blue oval in the middle which contains a picture of a beautiful dark-skinned woman. "Adha's grimoire, interesting," I pick it up and dust it off. I open the book to take a glance at the pages. Before you read this book you should know two things. 1. The book chose you. 2. These spells have no loophole, proceed with caution. "Finally something interesting in this junk shop," I put the book in my bag and take my leave. I wanted to say goodbye to Luna but she is still being interrogated by one of the detectives. I start digging into the book as soon as I got home. The book contains hundreds of spells but only one caught my attention.  'Get Magical power from The spirits.' _________________________ The next morning I put the book in my bag, eager to show it to the rest of the girl. For the first time in my life, I was early for school. I showed it to them but nobody believed me they said it's just a book and I'm overreacting. I showed them the spell hoping they will at least be willing to try it but they just laughed it off. After hours of boring classes to which I paid no attention to, the bell for lunch break finally rings and the school hall is then packed with students going to different directions. I go to our usual spot to my surprise everybody is already there but their eyes are on something on the wall. I rush to get a peek of what they're looking at. there it is in the same handwriting as the ones in the library and in the same color. Purple. There on the wall where we always sit is a big graffiti. Everybody is looking at us now laughing and pointing fingers. "The losers' crew, it's a cool name if you ask me," I shrug and sit with my tray of food. "I mean we've been called and done far worse." "your book, the spell you couldn't shut up about. I'm in," eve says her eyes still on the wall but she's staring into space. "me too," Iris follows. We all look at Luna who is looking back at us dumbfounded. "Can we count on you too?" Iris asks when she realizes that Luna is not about to say anything. "Definitely, I mean there's nothing to lose right?" she answers hesitantly. I smile looking at my friends imagining all the things we could do with all the power. If it works, of course. "sit, let us get to work sisters," I rub my hands together. They all sit down and gawk at me. I take the book out and find the page with the spell. "These are all the ingredients we need according to the book." I point at the center of the page where the ingredients are listed. The girls move closer to get a better look. "witch bones?" Luna asks sarcastically. "I have it covered," I say excitedly. The look on their face says it all they think I'm crazy. "So, I've done some research on Aldha, right? And apparently, she was one of the, if not, most powerful witches from her time." I explicate. "And what does this have to do with Witch bones?" Luna questions. "Well, I happen to know exactly where she's buried."
