Chapter 27Doug Nolan returns home from the strip club and pulls into his apartment building on Larkin Street. “Sweet Home Alabama” blares from the car speakers, and he waits until the song ends, singing off-key and drumming his fingers across the steering wheel. He is sore from trying a new choreography tonight. As Lynyrd Skynyrd’s voice switches to a Carrie Underwood song, Doug quickly turns the ignition off, grabs his keys, and swings the door open. A gust of hot air assaults him.
