“Please keep your distance. I might not be able to control myself. I can hardly keep all my reasons right now.” Avery nodded her head. She does not know what was going on, but she can tell that the man wasn’t joking about it. “Tell me, what can I do for you right now?” Avery didn’t know why she worried about the man so much that she couldn’t leave him be. He already refused her help, so why was she still asking him such a question? She knows that it wasn’t because she’s a concerned citizen who happened to come across a sick person. Damn. He looked far stronger than her, not just in appearance but also by the demeanor he exudes. The man did not move or answer. Avery got even more worried, so she walked nearer to him. The man opened his eyes, his golden eyes glowing as if he saw something worthy to feast on. He pulled Avery’s hand and hugged her entire body, his head resting on her neck. He sniffed on her neck, as if he was savoring Avery’s scent. “Who dares to claim what is mine? Who the f**k does he think he is to mark what belongs to me?” Avery was so confused. She couldn’t move her body as if all of her strength had left her. Her body was getting hotter with the man’s scent embracing her. She tried to push him, but couldn’t. “Stop… Let’s just stay here like this,” the man pleaded. “I will never hurt you or force you to do something you don’t like.” “Let me go!” The man chuckled, but it sounded like they were forced. “Why couldn’t you wait until I found you, hmm? Why must you marry someone else and be marked by him?” Avery didn’t know what to do, so he let him hug her body. He promised her that he wouldn’t dare to force her into something. Though she was still confused, why did she trust him so much when they had just met? Is it because of his eyes that look at her with yearning? Or was it because of the gentleness of his touch? Avery stared at the man, trying to find some answers, but all it gave her was the sudden tingly sensation in her stomach and the hot feeling whenever their skin touched while her heart is pounding in excitement. She couldn’t find a suitable answer other than… No! That was impossible. The possibility of finding your destined person was one in a thousand. The possibility is just so low, so how come James and she both found their destined one? It must be a scheme! Avery pushed the man. “You must be one of those werewolves who pretend to be their victim’s fated mate, and once they fall into your schemes, you will try to take over the pack!” she concluded. The man chuckled. “My clever one, I am glad that you have your guards up, but I am no ordinary werewolf. I won’t do such petty schemes.” Avery raised her brows. “What is your name, then?” she urged him. “They call me Axel.” “I am not asking what they are calling you. I am asking what your name is.” “I am afraid that you won’t believe me if I tell you who I am, my clever one.” “How big are you that you are this hesitant to tell me trivial things?” “I am Aspher Prometheus,” he declared. Aspher? The beta of that pack? Avery chuckled. He must be jesting! How come that the Beta of the elite clan was out here alone near their territory? That can’t be true! “I can tell that you’re not buying what I said.” Avery was about to answer when she heard a passing sound swiftly moving around the area. One… Two… Four… Seven… Nine… Ten. Ten werewolves were surrounding them, and their aura was similar to a beta! Avery immediately moved backwards. She can feel their killing intent! They’re not even trying to hide it! Aspher, who was lying on the ground with his eyes half-closed, slowly got up. “Don’t you even dare to touch her!” he declared. “She’s mine.” The growling stopped. The aoelian sound caused by the fast movements of the werewolves surrounding them stopped. “What’s going on?” Avery asked. She looked at the place where Aspher was lying down, but he couldn’t see him anymore, as if he had just vanished into thin air. “What the f**k is going on?” she whispered to herself. “Luna!” Avery immediately looked at Brylle, who was running towards her in a hurry. “Did you get hurt? Did they attack you?” he asked. Avery shook his head. “What happened?” “The usual occurrence. You’re not hurt, are you?” “I am not. By usual occurrence, you mean planting some bomb inside the pack and waiting for it to explode?” Beta Brylle nodded his head. Avery’s brows creased. They’re at it again? They are attacking another pack again? They are trying to subdue Avery’s pack, the pack that was once in second in power next to the Prometheus clan? And with a petty scheme at their disposal? Just how easy did they think it would be to come up with such a plan?
