“Just what the hell is going on?” Avery whispered to herself. She was imprisoned in the underground prison all by herself. Her wrists and feet were tied in shackles made of silver. It was excruciating. She felt like her very bones were being ground repeatedly. The shackles were also leaving marks on both of her wrists and feet. Avery felt like her skin was being burned. It was truly torture for every werewolf, a nightmare for those who got to know what this kind of torture feels like. But it did not end there. It has been days already, and she at least expects James to visit her, but he hasn’t. Even Maya, her loyal companion, did not see her, nor did the other council members who had sworn their lives to serve her, even if it cost them their lives. The thought of them abandoning her haunts her more than the shackles that prevent her from escaping. “Don’t tell me you’re still expecting them to get you out of here?” Avery looked at the approaching figure. Her petite body, ginger head, and annoyingly thin voice made it obvious to her who she was. “What are you doing here, Georgina?” Avery asked. Georgina laughed. “That’s Luna for you,” she declared. “I am now the new Luna of your beloved pack.” She looked at Avery from head to toe. “Who would have guessed that the proud daughter of the previous elite pack would be reduced to a mere prisoner who betrayed her own pack for another alpha? I thought that it could only happen in one of my wildest dreams, but look at you now?” Avery scoffed. “You won’t be sitting in that seat for far too long, Georgina, after all, the moon goddess and the blood pact made by our parents will protect those who are the rightful owners of that power,” she declared. “You may be able to seize it now and steal my people through your wicked schemes, but the truth will reveal itself. You’ll be punished, and I’ll make sure that I will be the one who bestows you the rightful punishment, may it be death, imprisonment, or torture.” “You’re quite delusional, aren’t you?” Georgina asked. “And quiet daring, if I may add.” Georgina got Avery’s meal out of the basket and spat on it. “What can your men, who were stripped of their power by your Alpha, and the moon goddess who can’t even protect you, or the blood pact that binds you here like a prisoner of her own territory, do if I kill you right now?” She laughed as she unlocked the rotten bars. “What can they do if I take your life right now?” Georgina forcefully fed Avery the food she spat on. “Eat it. Your best friend Maya begged me to feed you, you know? Even if I don’t want to, she begged me with her knees on the ground, so what can I do but accept her request?” Now that she heard it from the very person whose schemes made them imprison her, it made her sure that her men were in no different situation from her. James might have imprisoned them just like he did to her. What Avery feared most was the fact that James had the power to kill her men if they tried to get her out of the prison. But she doubts that James will go that far. Avery bit her lip, her eyes showing her anxiousness. The Alpha can’t be trusted right now since his mind has been influenced by Georgina. Avery glared at Georgina. “What did you do to my men?!” “Stripped off their power, enslaved, tortured, banished, and some were killed for trying to defy your Alpha.” Georgina laughed triumphantly. “They were killed by your husband, Avery.” Avery shook her head. She doesn’t want to believe it. James may be bad at making decisions, and his fated pair may be playing with his mind, but she truly believed that he wouldn’t be that heartless towards Avery’s men. James swore that he wouldn’t only treat her as an equal but he will also protect her men and her territory. That was the promise, and werewolves will never take back what they swore! “That’s impossible!” “Why is it impossible?” Georgina mockingly asked. “You were imprisoned here, even got tortured, and imprisoned with no escape, and you still think that James won’t be able to do that to your men?” She asked. “Your husband can even kill you right now if I demand it!” she sighed and looked at Avery. “Avery, you trusted your husband so much that you dared to lend him the authority of this territory. Now, look what you’ve got in return? Your men was massacred and was brutally killed, you are in prison right now, a Luna who can’t protect your own people, and now, your territory will be robbed by another pack! You foolish girl, when will you ever learn?” Avery tried to rip off the shackles in both of her wrist and feet, but failed miserably. She groaned in pain as the metals touched her already burned skin. “What do you mean by that, Georgina?!” Avery asked angrily. “Hours from now, the men who tried to m******e your pack will be back once again to mark this territory as theirs,” Georgina declared. “They will force you to submit to them and who knows what they might do with the children and the omega here?” She made a joyous laughter. “Just by thinking about it made me feel a lot of thrill. I had my fun. Playing with you, and that dipshit Alpha of yours was fun, and proving our ancestor wrong makes me want to jump in happiness. Who said you were a better choice than me, than all of those candidates?” Georgina threw the basket to Avery. “I will be playing a game with you one last time, Avery. When you have the chance, ran as far as you can away from here, and never go back. That is your destiny after all. You can never stay here.”
