“Let me go! How dare you lay your hands on me without my permission?” Avery shouted angrily. James scoffed with his annoyingly smug face. “Right now, you are not the Luna of this pack anymore,” he declared. He stood up and looked at Avery with his piercing eyes. “You are bound for torture to spill those who are on your side!” he declared. “We can’t let a traitor run around here. Who knows what you might do next? You might aim for my neck if I allow you to run loose.” Avery gritted her teeth. What the heck is wrong with him? It was as if he had forgotten the pact and his promise to her! A werewolf will never go back on his word! That’s how they uphold their pride! So how come James kept on taking back his words? “I am not a traitor! You know that I can’t betray you no matter what!” “How can we know that?” Georgina declared. “Those werewolves who attacked us were trying to find you, the Luna, and you are the Luna of this pack! Stop trying to deny it when the whole pack hears what they said!” Avery looked at Georgina angrily. She knew that this woman was up to no good. She’s trying to manipulate the situation by poisoning the minds of her Alpha and her people. “Maybe you’re the one they are after and not me! Things have been bad ever since you came!” “Why are you passing the blame on me?” Georgina asked. “Is this one of your schemes? To manipulate them into thinking that I am the one who sent those strong werewolves?” She chuckled cutely, which made Avery even more agitated. “I sent those werewolves whose strength is on par with an Alpha? I, who was abandoned by my pack?” she asked, laughing. “Is that why you let me stay here? So that I can serve as your scapegoat?” Avery couldn’t believe what she heard. Georgina had her way with her words, and she left her with no escape. Every word that would come out now from Avery’s mouth would serve as an excuse, a denial that would do nothing but fuel their suspicion. “You have your way with words, huh?” Georgina smirked at Avery’s loss for words. “Get the traitor to the prison. Drag her if need be,” James declared. “Understood, Alpha,” Brylle answered. He immediately gripped Avery’s wrist as hard as he could. If Avery were just one ordinary werewolf, her bones would have been broken by how much strength Brylle put into it. Avery couldn’t take it anymore. Her eyes glow a golden yellow. “Get your hands off me, Brylle. Let me go while I am still asking nicely.” “I am sorry, L-Luna… I…” Avery’s eyes glow even more. “I said, let go!” Brylle immediately let go of Avery’s hand. “L-Luna…” he trailed off with an apologetic look plastered on his face. He was about to help Avery get up when Georgina suddenly interrupted. “Beta Brylle,” Georgina called. She immediately came near the beta. “My Alpha just said that Avery is no longer the Luna of this pack,” she declared. She traces Brylle’s hand before touching his hair. “You have to throw her in prison before she asks for help from those werewolves again. We have to stop her, or else she will send us to our demise. You have to protect the ordinary werewolves and their young pups from her, am I right? We can’t let her call them again now that we have suffered from a great loss after that incident, can we?” “Brylle!” Avery warned him, one last time. “I am sorry, Avery, but I have to protect the pack… from you.” Avery scoffed. “Can you even hear yourself?” she asked in disbelief. “You’ll protect the pack from me, the Luna?” James, who was silent for a while, walked near Avery. “That is enough! As I said, you’re not the Luna of this pack anymore,” James declared. “Drag her!” James’ men, who were outside the room, came in. There were six of them in total, and Avery knew that she had no match against them if she tried to fight them all in one go. And even if she managed to escape now, she wouldn’t be able to go far. She’s bound in her own territory, and she won’t be able to leave, no matter how desperate she is. “I’ll go with you. There’s no need to drag me there,” Avery declared. She sighed in defeat and looked at James with so much disappointment. James had been acting differently from his usual self, which disappointed Avery so much that she regretted entrusting her pack to him. She also regretted that she agreed to that blood pact, which she does not even know what the contents are! After James’ men finished tying Avery’s wrist, they dragged it with so much force. Avery lost her balance and fell on the ground. James just looked at her with no remorse. He did not even bother helping her and just stood in front of her like a robot that lacks empathy. This is not what you promised me, Avery thought. She got up and started walking near those bulky men. Though it sounds impossible, she wanted James to change his mind and investigate the incident fairly and unbiased, but disappointingly, he did not. Avery’s eyes glowed as she looked at her chosen mate. “You’re going to regret this, James.” “Wait..!” James declared. Avery knew that once Georgina made her move again, he would willingly submit to her. The Alpha that she once trusted her life to is weak against his fated pair. Georgina, who was busy with Brylle, immediately ran towards James. “Babe!” she called James. Avery was astounded, not by Georgina’s vulgarity and shamelessness, but by the lack of reaction from his people, their people, as if they had known that the two were doing unholy things behind her back. It was as if the only one who wasn’t aware of it was Avery. “Go on. Imprison her already,” James declared with his ice-stone cold.
