Punishing The Offender

Everyone turned to the direction of the voice and saw a petite looking girl, she was beautiful with long pointy ears. It was immediately obvious that she was an elf.  she came forward and spoke more confidently. "It wasn't Carissa, she loved the bird. I mean why would she even kill her own spirit animal, it was Kira. I don't know why she would do something like that but I saw her sneaking into Carissa's room." The girl said and everyone's eyes went to Kira.

"What the f**k? She's lying, why would I do something like that?" Kira defended and just then, Principal Edgewater appeared. " What is going on here? Why the crowd?" Professor Edgewater asked. " Professor, Carissa called an alarm and said that her Phoenix was dying. So we all came and Mr Wilfred examined the bird and said that it was burnt badly due to being in contact with iron and everyone thought maybe Carissa carelessly left iron close to the Phoenix but this girl over here just said she saw Kira snooping around Carissa's room." Miss Nestlé explained.

 "Come here girl, what is your name?" Professor Edgewater asked. The girl stepped forward timidly and introduced herself.

"My name is Stephanie."

" Are you sure you saw Kira?" Professor Edgewater interrogated further.

" Yes professor, I'm sure I saw her." Stephanie ascertained and Professor Edgewater nodded her head. "Very well then, Kira, Carissa and Stephanie, my dear please do follow me.  We are going to resolve this matter in my office. The rest of you can go about your business." Professor Edgewater declared and the three girls followed the principal to her office while the rest of the Crowd dissipated.

Once the girls got to her office, they were asked to take their seats. And then,she requested to hear each of their versions of the story. She called in witnesses and they all testified to Kira's absence in the cafeteria until later. Kira then lied that she had an assignment to complete and that she never went close to Carissa's room and she never would if given the chance. The three girls all sounded convincing enough and she couldn't decide who was lying. As far as she knew,they were all good girls. She especially had faith in Kira,she had been an excellent student since her arrival at the school. As for the chosen one, they were all still getting to know her and hoped she would be on her best behavior and although Professor Edgewater didn't know much about Stephanie, the had never been heard to break any of the school rules and that was good enough.

"You all can't be right and since one of you has refused to speak the truth, you leave me no choice but to take desperate measures." Professor Edgewater said and it somehow sounded ominous. She spoke to Miss Nestlé through the intercom and ordered her to send the potion.

Stacy flew into the office with the potion in her mouth and dropped it before lying out. It was a truth potion and it was dark in colour, it sure didn't look promising. "This is your last chance to speak the truth. This is a truth potion and I will give a little to the three of you and then ask you the question one more time. Whoever refused to speak the truth then would be in unbearable pain until an antidote is administered." Professor Edgewater warned but none of the girls seemed to budge.

Kira was slightly scared,she knew how potent the potions made in this school were but she was willing to take the risk,the principal mustn't find out she's responsible for burning the chosen one's spirit animal, her reputation as a n excellent student would be done for and she just couldn't take it. She came from a bloodline of very powerful vampires, so maybe her blood would be strong enough to overshadow the potion's power,she hoped.

Professor Edgewater said a spell and the potion opened. She asked the three girls to open their mouth and she levitated the potion, pouring it in drops into their mouths. She said another spell which closed the potion back up. "Now,who is responsible for burning Carissa's spirit animal? Say what you know and speak only the truth." Professor Edgewater requested and the girls said exactly what they had said before but nothing happened. Kira tried to hide her smirk, it was either the principal had been lying just to get the truth out of her, or her blood was just too strong for the potion to harm her. 

Professor Edgewater looked at all three of the girls and told them they could leave. They thanked her and stood up and as they got to the door, professor Edgewater couldn't hide her smirk. "In three,two,one...." Professor Edgewater counted down and Kira screamed. "Aargh! It hurts! It hurts!" Kira cried and fell down, clutching her stomach. " Kira, I never expected this of you.  How could you do such a thing? I warned you just now but you didn't listen but now you must speak the truth.  Why did you try to kill Carissa's spirit animal? Don't you dare lie anymore because the more you lie, the more painful it will get, so only speak the truth."Professor Edgewater said and nodded her head,she was very disappointed in Kira.

"I did it because I wanted to get her in trouble?" Kira confessed in tears due to the amount of pain she was in,it was almost unbearable. " And why's that?" Professor Edgewater asked once more. " Because I'm f*****g jealous of her, she stole everything from me!"Kira said and groaned in pain.

" Mind your language, young lady. This is a school!" Professor Edgewater warned. " Well, as much as I'd like to know what your personal Vendetta with her is, I don't have time for that. You had better stop this nonsense right away and patch things up with her.  As one of the best students in this school,I  expected you to welcome the chosen one with open arms and to help teach her everything she would need for her mission,you know very well that she doesn't have much time but instead, you're busy plotting against her. Don't ever try such again, this is your last warning." Professor Edgewater said sternly.

"Yes maam,I promise I won't. Just please stop the pain, make it go away. I can't take it anymore" Kira pleaded,she seemed so pitiful. Stacy immediately came in with another potion and Professor Edgewater administered it to Kira and after a few minutes, she was back to normal.

She was made to apologize to Carissa and write an apology note which she would read to the whole school, her social life was done for. That would teach her not to mess with the chosen one.

The girls were dismissed from the principal's office after that.
