Spirit Animal

Miss Nestlé walked to the front of the class while she was greeted by the students. She was their chemistry teacher. She taught them about various plants and how to extract the juices of such plants. She promised she would teach them how to make potions out of the plants in the next class. She left them with some homework and a chapter to read. 

The next class was biology,Mr Wilfred stepped into the class and after the usual greetings,acknowledged Carissa first of all,to the annoyance of Kira. Mr Wilfred taught about the morphology of different spirit animals and after a quick discussion, urged the class to follow him to the stables. It was time for the chosen one to select her spirit animal.

Carissa was excited and a bit scared,how was it all going to be like? When they arrived there,she saw different mythical animals like winged unicorns, just like Stacy,phoenixes, griffins,brimbees and even a yeti. She was asked to choose one animal, generally, having a spirit animal wasn't necessary but for the chosen one it was sort of, just for companionship.

Carissa wasted no time in choosing a baby Phoenix, she could swear it was the cutest thing she had ever seen. After that,it was recess and then lunch time. Carissa had decided to name her Phoenix, Bose. Although not an awesome name, it was the only one she could think of. After feeding it,she left it to rest on bed in her room while she went ahead to the cafeteria to have some lunch.

There,she met Brianna and they sat at the same table and chatted. Meanwhile, Kira seemed to be missing from the cafeteria. This was only because she was up to no good. She sneaked into the room that Kira and Brianna shared and saw the baby Phoenix fast asleep on Carissa's bed. "It's a shame I have to kill such a pretty little thing but that b***h has left me no choice, since her presence is making me miserable, I'll make her stay here a nightmare." Kira soliloquized whilst advancing stealthily towards the bird. She knew that once it sensed danger, it would scream and burn up,the last thing she wanted was to be caught In the act,her reputation would never survive it.

She brought said a spell and a small piece of iron appeared in from of her. She took a deep breath and put the iron close to the Phoenix, her intention wasn't to kill it right away but to give it a huge injury from which it would be unable to recover. For sure,the part of the Phoenix's body began to burn up due to it's proximity to the iron and the poor bird whimpered in agony,Kira almost felt sorry for it,almost.

A few seconds later,she withdrew the iron and made it disappear. The Phoenix continued to burn up gradually but after a few minutes of being away from the iron,it stopped burning up but part of it's body had burnt up pretty badly and it was obvious the bird wouldn't last the night.

With a wicked smile, she flipped her hair and walked out of the room. Kira walked into the cafeteria rather giddily and even Olivia her only friend was shocked. "Kira,what are you so happy about? You were so angry a minute ago,so what happened?" Olivia couldn't refrain from asking.

"Well,if you must know,Carissa's going to be in trouble pretty soon." Kira said and refused to say a word more on the subject. She bought some food and went to sit on Darren's lap. "Woah,there. I thought you were mad. You suddenly look so happy." Darren asked caressing his girlfriend's thighs,riding her short skirt further up.

"I'm so happy because seeing you dispelled all the anger, I just love you so much,that's all." She said and kissed him sensually in front of his friends. Carissa witnessed all this and felt a little strange. "Cari,a word of advice, abort any feelings you have for Darren, he belongs to Kira." Brianna said,noticing the way Carissa was staring at the smooching couple.

"What? No,it's not like that. It's actually my first time of seeing a public display of affection." Carissa said and stood up. "Where are you going?" Brianna asked. "I'm full,I'll just go check up on Bose and maybe get some shut eye." Carissa said and Brianna nodded.

She walked out of the cafeteria and as soon as she got to the rooms area,a feeling of trepidation set in. She didn't know why but she rushed towards her room. She opened the door and got a huge shock, lying groggily was Bose. She rushed towards the weak looking bird and caressed it's bright orange feathers. It was curled up in a ball and it's bright purple eyes showed such deep sadness. She took the bird in her arms and when she opened up its feathers she nearly screamed. It was badly burnt and was slowly turning into ashes. " What in the world happened?"  carissa questioned nearly on the verge of tears, the weary bird just kept gazing in her eyes.

 It curled up in a ball in her hands. She panicked and ran out of the room screaming for help. "Please help something happened to Bose, he's burning up." Most of the teachers and students surrounded her,asking  her what the problem was.  she explained that she left him in a good condition, he was actually sleeping but she returned and found him in such a terrible state. Mr Wilfred was called to check on the dying bird and he told them that the only thing that could burn up a phoenix is iron. 

"Did you put him close to iron by any chance?"  "No,I didn't." Carissa replied, this was all so confusing. "Too bad,the chosen one can't even handle a simple bird, she's gone and murdered her own spirit animal. How is she supposed to save all of us?" Kira taunted and Carissa fell on her knees,of course she wasn't cut out for this, she was just a simple University student, not a witch or a stupid chosen one. She just couldn't do this.  "I'm sorry but this Phoenix can't last the night, it will die in a few hours." Mr Wilfred said in a somewhat comforting tone. Carissa decided to give up. She was about to say she quit when someone from the crowd yelled.

"It wasn't Carissa, it was Kira.  She killed the bird, I saw her."
