Welcome To Mystery High

Carissa opened her eyes slightly and closed them back almost instantly due to the bright light. She opened them once more and tried to focus on her surrounding this time. She saw that she was surrounded by many people, some of them odd looking but that was the least of her problems right now. The question that kept ringing in her mind was,where the hell was she? And what was going on?

"Is she really the chosen one? She looks so beautiful but she's weirdly dressed." They kept whispering among themselves but it was loud enough for her to hear. "She's coming!" A voice yelled and the place immediately went dead silent. The students gave way and a chubby middle aged lady walked majestically towards her. Although she was still on the floor,she shifted backwards slightly.

"Oh don't be afraid dear,you're completely safe here." The woman said,kindness in her voice. "Where.... Where am I?" Carissa asked the only thing that seemed sensible. "Oh dear,where are my manners. Welcome to Mystery High." The lady said and the crowd followed suit. "Welcome to Mystery High." They resounded.

A boy came forward and helped her up,he kept staring at her and she blushed slightly. "Thank you Darren,that'll be all." She said dismissively and he nodded and returned to the crowd. "I'm sorry but I don't understand what's going on. Weird things have been happening today and I think they're still happening. I think I'm hallucinating or I've truly gone crazy." Carissa said horridly, the poor girl seemed so confused.

"There's no need to seem so troubled, Carissa. Come with me and I'll explain everything." The lady said and Carissa stiffened. "How... How exactly do you know my name?" She was really really freaking out now.

"Dear there are a lot of things we know about you,even things you are yet to know about yourself and if you truly want to find out the truth, just trust me and come with me." The lady said and Carissa hesitated a bit before following the lady and they walked farther from the crowd. Carissa had always known herself to be the adventurous one but honestly, this just felt plain crazy.

"I'm professor Edgewater,the principal of Mystery High. Mystery High is a school for the magical and gifted. Witches,werewolves, elves,vampires, goblins and even fairies come here to learn and master their powers. This school is reputed for producing the most powerful beings, even among the royal family." Professor Edgewater began but Carissa was impatient.

"But what does all this have to do with me,as far as I know,none of what you just said exist. In the real world,I'm just a young adult struggling for her bright future. I don't know what this is it and I don't want to be part of it." Carissa said and professor Edgewater shook her head.

"Patience dear,they say is a virtue. You have alot to learn if you are to face Dark Wrath and come back alive." Professor Edgewater said and took a slightly narrow path. Carissa was short of words this time and so she just followed quietly, everything would unravel in due time.

They came to a stop by a beautiful lake,it was so clear and majestic with a few beautiful fish. She also noticed a black line trailing the edge of the lake,it seemed like it was polluting the water and the fish stayed far away from it "This is the Gemini lake." Professor Edgewater said. "Wow! It's so beautiful, I never knew something so beautiful actually existed." Carissa had to exclaim at the lake's beauty.

"Yes,it is. It used to be more beautiful actually and filled with so many beautiful and wonderful creatures but that's no more. The lake is drying, it's been polluted and the creatures are dying. This is all Dark Wrath's doing." Professor Edgewater said the name so bitterly that it actually got Carissa curious.

"Who's that?" She questioned simply.

"Dark Wrath was a royal advisor and the King's closet friend but the man was thirsty for power and a little too overambitious. Princess Ella,the King's only daughter found out the man was trying to usurp her father and she exposed him. Dark Wrath was supposed to be sentenced for treason but he escaped and no one heard of him. The kingdom of Rondinia continued to live in peace until one dark night after he disappeared almost seven years ago.

He had acquired dark,evil powers from a questionable source and returned to claim the throne. He slayed the king and queen and turned princess Ella into his s*x slave. He later killed her when she tried to escape." Professor Edgewater narrated and paused to compose herself, she seemed like she was going to cry any minute.

"He sounds truly evil." Carissa said awkwardly, not knowing if it would comfort the woman.

"After taking the throne, he began his reign of terror. He banned all magic except his own because he knew the people would revolt. His minions began k********g all the magical beings and if they were lucky, they came back completely powerless, having been stripped of their magic and if they were not,no one would ever hear from them again. He would have succeeded in being the only powerful being if not for this school.

Mystery High isn't located in Rondinia, but it's close to it. Mystery High is located in the old world which is sealed off against any attack by strong magic even more powerful than Dark Wrath's. He has tried multiple times to pull down the barrier of the old world but has failed. Mystery High is like a home and safe haven to it's students, they are the magical ones left of their kind. His dark magic is slowly draining the life from our world,if something isn't done,everything will be destroyed. I was trying to see to it that they be prepared for battle if it came to it but then,the prophecy came." Professor Edgewater said and paused once more so Carissa could digest the information.

"What prophecy?" By now Carissa was so absorbed in the story,she hadn't realized they had left the lake.

"This is the part where you come in. It was found written in stone one day that a brave young girl would arrive from the human world to battle and kill Dark Wrath. She was the chosen one and she would be the one to set us free and her name is Carissa. After Dark Wrath found out about this,he knew you would come and so he made being able to reach him nearly impossible. He created the three malevolents " Professor Edgewater said as if reading from a book.

"What are the three malevolents?" Carissa questioned.

"Well they're just the three most feared and dangerous creatures in Rondinia. No one has ever been able to go past even the first malevolent without getting slayed but prophecy has it that you will conquer the three unscathed and reach Dark Wrath's castle to defeat him." Professor Edgewater stopped to make sure Carissa was still following.

"I don't know what to say." Carissa didn't know just how to take the news. "My job is to make sure you learn and are trained properly. You'll become the greatest witch that ever lived and mind you,a good witch. I know tales from your side of the world say that all witches are evil but that isn't entirely true. You must learn to master the powers within you and channel them correctly. You will be given the opportunity to choose five people that will fight alongside you and assist you. You have to make sure they are people who are strong, wise and with which you can work with. They will help you in your journey but at last,you will be the one to conquer the evil." Professor Edgewater said and took them back to the school.

This time, they entered into her office and sat down. "So now that you know everything, will you do it?" Professor Edgewater asked calmly.

Carissa nearly laughed. "Well although it all still seems and sounds so surreal to me,I'd never pass up the chance for adventure. Plus,it's not like I have a choice. I'm kinda trapped here till I fulfill the prophecy, so I guess I'm in." She said casually, still trying to understand the enormity of what she had just gotten herself into.

"Good. I'll send you to your room. You start classes tomorrow, I'll know you'll never let all of us down." Professor Edgewater finally had a smile. "How can you be so sure of that?" Carissa asked with a smirk. "You're the chosen one,remember? Plus you don't look like the type to easily give up." Professor Edgewater said and clapped her hands. A winged unicorn entered into the office and she sat on it.

"Stacy will take you to your room,I expect you to be early tomorrow." Professor Edgewater said dismissively. "Yes,Prof" Carissa said and before the older lady could protest or anything, Stacy had already flown out of the office, taking Carissa to her new room.
