Chapter 2

JESSICA LEE MASON

Jessica Lee Mason is a five-year-old little girl who is extraordinary. However, she doesn’t know it yet. She knows she is different from others, but she doesn’t know why. And most people don’t know either. She is daddy’s little girl, but that also has to do with her mother passing away during birth. Being five years old, she is very independent. She has sandy brown hair and blue eyes. Even though she may not be smiling, she always is. Some say she is a bit of a tom-boy, has a mouth and is too smart for her own good. To her father, she is a sweetheart. Depending on the day or her mood, Jessica can be shy or obnoxious. She can be sweet or mean, stubborn or compliant. If she feels threatened, scared or just has that gut feeling something is amiss- there is a good chance she will do something reckless.

SAM THOMAS MASON

Sam Thomas Mason is Jessica’s father, who is head/owner of the small police department outside of Dallas. After spending some time in the military, Sam always wanted to be a police officer. Being in such a big state, there is always room for a smaller department to set up outside the big cities. Makes it easier on response times. Sam is about 6’2”, 210 pounds, lean with a bit of a beer gut, but fit. Sam just turned 30 about 2 months ago. He has a clean-cut look, with blue eyes and dark brown hair. He is always in the public eye, and a very good people person. He knows that he has a bright little girl with a very high IQ for her age, but he doesn’t want her to miss out on doing things with other children her age. Sam is very successful in life and hopes to leave everything to Jessica. He faces the struggle of any single parent with trying to juggle the job and be there for the child, let alone trying not to be single. Things were rough after Sara died. Sam felt lost, but he threw himself into work and wanted to be the best father he could be. Jessica is the reason he smiles every day.
