EMS is on scene. Morgan is covered in blood and is back in his haze as the paramedics work on Sam. Oh s**t, my best friend has been shot. Cell phone ringing but ignored. “Morgan…Morgan…Morgan!” Lieutenant, sorry, what do I do? I am like his only family left. s**t! Jessica. “Morgan, I am sorry, but what about Jessica?” It’s Sam’s daughter, Jessica, I am supposed to go pick her up from school for Sam. What am I going to tell her? She is five and Sam was her only family. Oh my god. On the verge of tears and running his hands through his hair. “Morgan, I’ll call the ADA Carson and ask her to go pick her up and bring her to the station. Plus, she will have all his information. I know you two are like family, but you need to get cleaned up and be there for Jessica.” How am I supposed to do that? Like what take her in Lieutenant? I can’t do that. I have no child experience. “Well, I can have her put in a home.” No, no, no Sam would have a fit. “Look, go get cleaned up, go to the hospital, and I’ll deal with this and Jessica.” Sam you better not die. I barely handled Sara’s death. Oh my god, I can’t believe this is happening. I am devastated, Jessica is going to be devastated. She didn’t know her mom, but boy does that girl love her dad. Thoughts of his one-night stand with Sara when she and Sam broke –up, but then got back together and married a few months after. I am a terrible person. Driving to the hospital behind the ambulance. Sara’s wishes were to still be friends with Sam and help with Jessica. What the hell am I going to do with the kid? Do I like to adopt her or something? When I see her do I give her a hug or a teddy bear? Ugh.
