Morgan is sitting in the waiting room with his head buried in his hands and knees bouncing up and down. Several other officers and superiors are all waiting in the waiting area. A doctor walks in and everyone stands up. “Mason family.” Morgan walks forward, I am the closest he’s got to kin. Please tell me he is okay. “I am sorry, we did everything we could, but there was too much blood loss, and the bullet went through a major artery and we couldn’t fix it.” Bursts into tears. Oh no, no, no. “Morgan, I am terribly sorry, we all are, but we need you to stay strong, because Jessica is on her way up.” Are you kidding me Lieutenant? My best friend of many years is dead and you’re telling me not to show any emotion? Lieutenant doesn’t say anything. Sorry Lieu, you’re right. I have no idea how to tell her or what next.
Jessica
I hate waiting. Elevators are slow. Ping. Finally, off the elevator, I walk off following Allison. I see a bunch of familiar faces of cops and others, but not my dad. Everyone looks sad. Oh no. “Morgan.” “Hey Allison, Jessica.” Morgan is looking at me weird. One of my dad’s lieutenants comes over and asks me to sit down. I do, but I am watching Allison and Morgan. Something is way wrong.
