The Trumpet
FADE-UP:
INT. PUEBLO - NIGHT
A Mexican Boy named JUANITO has a display of a
California-Mission designed as a three-dimensional layout.
A military bugle call sounds-off.
He has placed some intricate details, as he adds a miniature
statue of a Priest aside from the Mission.
His Father walks in with concern over the school-project.
MEXICAN-FATHER
You see that project, there, that
your school makes all the students
partake-in, for their sake to pass
the third-grade.
As the Father picks up the landscape-design of Spanish Adobe
Mission in California.
MEXICAN-FATHER
Do you know the untold horror-story
listed in your history-books, do
you? You do not.
The little Boy is scared, and sad over his creation of such
a Mission with history. And he picks up a small plastic toy
of a wolf.
MEXICAN-FATHER (O.S.)
Let me tell you-son, that this life
is full of good and evil, with evil
sometimes disguised as good, and
vice-versa.
The little Boy grabs a tiny plastic toy of an Albino-Deer,
which pecks his finger to bleed, all over.
And places it onto the backside of the church, of the
woodland area.
EXT. THE WOODS - MORNING
An albino-deer prancing within the open, yet eerie woods. Then this unique deer licks it’s foot.
As suddenly the loud the bang of a gunshot goes off!

Thick, dark, and heavy boots of several-hunters march their
way within the foggy damped woods.
A hunting-rifle hangs well-below a man dressed in all-black,
appearing to be a mentor taking his understudy for a lesson.
The hunting-duo approach a limping albino-deer that is
bleeding, and wounded badly.
The Mentor with his snarling nose, and thick eye-brows look
at his understudy, whose of Native-American descent.
As the Mentor offers a hand-gun to a fearful Boy.
Whose eyes are filled with remorse.
MENTOR (O.S.)
What do you say, Chock?
The eyes of the albino-deer appear to look quite similar.
Chocktaw stands over the whimpering unique-animal, and aims
the hand-gun point-blank at the deer.
He closes his eyes, and begins to tear-up.
We can hear the loud bang of a gun-shot.
Chocktaw drops to his knees, feeling disappointed.
As the Mentor approaches Chocktaw with his cellphone.
MENTOR
Chock, ay, snap out of it. This
could be the last known
albino-deer, do you know what this
might mean?
As the Mentor pauses.
Chocktaw is quite disgusted.
MENTOR
We can garnish the meat, for food,
as well as letting the world know.
The Mentor pauses with his phone reaching towards the
young Chocktaw, who grabs the phone.
MENTOR
Make sure the deer is in frame.
Chocktaw feels absurd as such a cameraman-ought to be.

He snaps a photo.
With the Mentor in the background hacking away with a
hand-saw.
The hand-saw see-saws back and forth with bone crunching
sounds to cause a headache.
As blood spatters onto a nearby tree with engravings of different lovers’; C/O 81-73-66-83-80, etc. Covering the bark, entirely.
Several-dozen trees hold marked-up engravings.
As one engraving, specifically holds an M.A. hearts Y.B.
EXT. DOWN THE HIGHWAY - MORNING
Passing by flowers down-the-road, by a memorial,
Michelangelo does the sign of the cross.
Then he turns the radio down.
MICHELANGELO (O.S.)
There ain’t s**t on the radio.
Michelangelo pops in a tape with a cord attached, and he plugs it in. With an 80’s track playing.
And tapping his fingers, as if he were part of the band.
The memorial belongs to a passing Native-Boy. As his beads
resemble his tribe.
Michelangelo gets out of his car and pops a squat.
As he holds onto those beads.
And staring into the portrait of the late passing, of
his-Native-American friend.
As he kisses his palm, and touches his friend’s picture.
INT. CATHEDRAL - MORNING
Strong and hairy hands do the sign of the cross over a
dangling Crucifex resting on his hairy chest.
Michelangelo kisses to the heavens-above.
Thus, behold an Operatic-Painting of Saint Michael the
Arch-Angel.
EXT. THE CEMETERY - MORNING
Michelangelo does the sign of the cross different times, for
his family and friends.
As he drives aside from the lonesome village-cemetery.
A car drives by, and it is The Mexican Father with his
little boy, Juanito.
INT. MEXICAN FATHER’S VAN - CONTINUOS
The Mexican Father drives the van, with his Son riding
shotgun, while holding his San Carlos Mission project.
The Boy flicks the tiny bell glued to the miniature version
of San Carlos Mission project.
EXT. CEMETERY - CONTINUOS
The sound of a large-ringing bell from the heavens-above is
quite excruciating.
Michelangelo covers both of his ears.
INT. MEXICAN FATHER’S VAN - CONTINUOS
The Boy covers his ears, as his Father rustles through the
torturous sound of a bell.
Then the Boy stops the miniature bell with his index-finger.
And takes a concerning look to his intrigued Father, who
lights up a rolled-cigarette and exhales into the project.
EXT. CEMETERY - CONTINUOS
A jogger adjusts her headphones of TOP 40 POP Music that
gets blown-out. Just as a heavy dose of fog lingers-by.
Her music turns to a dark Gothic tune.

He passes by memorials, as he kisses his palm, touching the

His Middle-School pal’s picture is blessed.
As well as his Elementary crush, is also remembered. He pulls out his phone, and dials: #420
Michelangelo can hear footsteps.
As he turns the corner of the mausoleum.
He runs into Mario, the black-guido.
MICHELANGELO
Oh, s**t. Mario!?
MARIO
Mickey. What’s up, dude!?
They give each-other a hug.
And they begin to smoke a joint through one nice sesh.
MARIO
I visit my Nanu, on Columbus-Day,
every-year, out of respect for his,
and my ancestry-alike. Y’know?
Don’t wanna lose my head, so
thought I’d keep it, by keeping in
touch with fam, y’know?
Michelangelo pauses.
As Mario laughs.
MICHELANGELO
Whatever you do, don’t lose your
head. Seriously, for all of us.
That would be one great-big pain in
the ass, Mario.
The duo laugh, as they give a fist-pound.
MARIO
Much love.
As Michelangelo nears the memorials on the top-balcony.
He sees his long-lost love. As he pauses, for a bit.
He kisses his palm. And places it onto her memorial-picture.
EXT. CEMETERY GROUNDS - CONTINUOS
As Michelangelo walks within the cemetery-grounds.
He suddenly realizes that he cannot find his car.
P.O.V. of MICHELANGELO - MORNING:
Upon the cemetery-grounds, resides nothing, but graves.
And just as you know it, from afar, stands a man.
Michelangelo spooked, but intrigued.
As he begins to run.
P.O.V. of MICHELANGELO - CONT..
The Native-American man holds a case, of some sort, in one
hand. And as for the other, is a smoke.
Michelangelo has gained some ground, sprinting.
But when stops to realize that he was fooled.
P.O.V. of MICHELANGELO - CONT..
There is not a single-soul in sight. As he looks-left,
nothing. He looks right, and still-nothing.
He looks elsewhere, and finds his car.
As he hops in it.
INT. MICHELANGELO’S CAR - CONTINUOS
As the thick fog hits Michelangelo in the face.
Almost deliberately trying to make contact. This is spooky.
MICHELANGELO
As he puts his car in drive.
INT. COTTAGE - MORNING

looks at himself in the mirror-praying.
It’s the Mentor.

We notice the Italian-Flag hung around the mirror.
As well as a framed-certificate for The Knights of Columbus.
This guy has a snarling-nose.
And through his eyes, he sees no hope.
He does the sign of the cross.
Suddenly, a young Chocktaw appears in the background with a
black-eye.
The Knight of Columbus notices the boy.
An awkward silence goes about.
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
Don’t start no-s**t, today, you
hear me!?
The Boy standing small within his own innocence.
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
Today is the most important-day of
the year, for not only myself, but
for all Italian-Americans! Are you
listening to me son!?
Chocktaw feels a bit-confused.
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
Go get ready, and put some grease
in your hair, will-ya! You look
like a f*****g red-faced version,
of Shaka-Zulu.
As the Knight of Columbus repels to himself.
Chocktaw is about to exit, until he hesitates.
And takes a creeping-look back into the bathroom.
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
Oh, and don’t forget your
lunch-money..
The Knight of Columbus tosses a bunch of change at the feet,
of Chocktaw Boy.
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
Go buy yourself a hot-dog, or
somethin’. Think you deserved it

Chocktaw Boy picks up the change off the floor.
INT. BATHROOM - CONTINUOS
Chocktaw looks at himself in the mirror.
He isn’t Italian. He’s Native-American.
As he places his hand into the muck of the grease that his
father-figure uses.
This feels like nothing he’s ever experienced-before.
As he rubs his hands up and down.
Then the door-opens abruptly.
And it’s The Knight of Columbus.
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
What’s going on in here, Mister???
CHOCKTAW BOY
Well, I was just, um... Using the
grease --
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
- See, now let me show you how.
The Knight of Columbus places his hand over the Boy’s hand.
And continues to move it into the thick of the grease.
CHOCKTAW BOY
I don’t like this.
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
It’s okay, just get deeper.
The Boy slaps the Knight of Columbus hard across the face.
Cue: Music -- theme for Chocktaw
INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOS
As Chocktaw pauses in the living-room.
And is looking at a prized-collection of blow-darts that are
hung on the wall.
Aside from hunting pictures with The Head Knight of Columbus
posing alongside a dead Rhino, as well as a dead Tiger.
This makes Chocktaw feel sick to his stomach.
Then he realizes there’s only 2 darts left in the
hung-holster.
EXT. COTTAGE - CONTINUOS
Chocktaw running down the street.
As tears drop off his face.
He looks back at the cottage, as if were his last.
Until the Knight of Columbus runs-out, pissed-off, with his
blow-whistler in his mouth, aimed at Chocktaw.
KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS
See you-soon, Choctaw-boy!
But realizes the Boy’s already taken-off running. So, he
walks back inside the house.

Suddenly a penny is skipped beside her. As she squeaks. And another penny, as well as another is skipped.
This is quite frightening to Gina.
EXT. HILLTOP OF THE PASTURES OF HEAVEN - CONTINUOS
Chocktaw gets up from the rock, and to the cliff edge.
He takes a couple more steps to the edge of the cliff-to get
a clear vision, and aims for his next skipped-penny.
Then few rocks roll down the hill.
Chocktaw stops in his tracks.
As he notices a Woman taking all her clothes-off.
The Boy lunges forward.

The Beauty swims in the water-hole aside from the fountain,

peeping-tom, you...
As Gina pauses.
The Chocktaw Boy is dumbfounded.
GINA
What happened to your eye?
The Chocktaw Boy pauses.
GINA
Oh, I see... You just don’t wanna
tell me what happened to the other
guy, huh...
As Gina Smiles. Chocktaw smiles, too.
GINA
What’s your name?
CHOCKTAW BOY
You can call me Chocktaw.
GINA
I’m Gina, and we’ve certainly have
just become friends.
As Gina gives the Chocktaw Boy a high-five.
GIO (O.S.)
Whoa, Whoa, whoa....
Chocktaw looks and sees the sight of trouble.
GIO
Wait just a second. So what do you
think your doing here, Indian-Boy!?
This is our hangout-spot.
Michelangelo appears with them, but not as hostile.

GIO
You don’t think I know that.
MICHELANGELO
Gio, look, this kid is harmless.
Leave him alone.
Michelangelo pulls out a joint. And lights it up.
He exhales.
And passes it to Chocktaw.
MICHELANGELO
Think I got the birds-stoned. Can’t
you hear them singing?
Chocktaw takes the joint.
GINA
You can’t wear that to school.
Let’s get you some new threads.
As they all get-up, walking and smoking.
Chocktaw has found happiness.
Which leaves a bittersweet-Gio.

the corner of his eye.
Which draws him towards this miscellaneous-booth.
And comes across a case, as Michelangelo places his hands
on-top, feeling the vibrations that it is giving-off.

As he turns the other cheek.
Gio walks away, loquaciously.
As he pulls his phone out.

Gio gives a snarling-eyebrow.
TOMMY

Leaving a dumbfounded-Tommy.
GIO
That ought to do the job.
As Gio gives him a fist-pound.

NATIVE-SELLER
You play your notes right, you just

The Native-Seller blows smoke in Michelangelo’s face.
As he wraps the case-up, secure, and safely.
Michelangelo looks confused, until he sees a table-top designed for, "Donations to Help Standing-Rock Sioux Tribe".
Then Michelangelo donates ten dollars.
Gina looks up from shopping, and turns to Chocktaw.
NATIVE-SELLER
As long as you look between the
cracks, you’ll be free, my son.
Free as the plants, we, as humans
have become Suspect-of. Play the
notes of thy familiar vibes, and
join, forever in harmony, of the
everlasting tribe. Because wherever
you are in this place called Earth,
you will find what’s wrong, and it
ought to be resolved, as
Mother-Nature, herself, has become
suffocated, by a forceful mask of
concrete. To be free, is to feel
life, naturally.
And the Native Seller puffs on his corn-cop pipe.

A Biker about to go off a jump, face-plants.
Whereas, a Skater-boarder grinds off a rail, and boom! And finally a Roller-Blade chick, eats it hardcore.
A bolt of lightning-strikes.
As we can hear notes of the trumpet over each biff.
EXT. THE WHARF- DAY
Michelangelo look inside the trumpet to see what is causing
his bad-performance.
As he is very much so confused.
EXT. THE BEACH - DAY
