A Day at Crystine Crest Academy
Ring Ring Ring! My alarm sang as it forced me to open my eyes. I slapped the top of it, hoping it would shut up on my first try. Thank God it did. I glanced at the clock. 6:50 am I groaned I had to get up and put my uniform on to get to the Academy. At least it was a Friday, that meant I could catch up with some of my friends after school ended. And so I did as expected. I got up from my comfortable and warm bed. It felt like I was going through a break-up honestly, with me leaving my comfort and warmth on the bed as I stood up to face another dreadful day at the Academy. I went to the bathroom down the hall and started my morning routine of brushing my teeth, washing my face and putting my uniform on. The uniform consisted of an emerald blazer and skirt, with a white undershirt that I tucked into my skirt, followed up by a gold crescent logo on the blazer. Shoes on the other hand? God forbid a girl wants to wear something fashionable. Flat and black, the shoes looked like they came straight out of a primary school movie. They looked fvcking childish. But what could I do? After getting ready, I headed to the kitchen, now realizing that my parents had probably already left for work. Which was normal since they were workaholics. I did not grab anything to eat and headed out with only a mango-flavored juice to-go that my mom had prepared last night. And I was off. By the time I arrived at the Academy, I had already finished my juice and thrown the plastic mold away in a nearby trashcan. The Academy building was huge. Marvelous. It looked like it came straight out of a medieval portrait, with its large castle-like structure and architecture. Big windows aligned all floors, while the stairs we had to climb up to the front door reached a whopping 317 steps. And yes, I counted. A girl needed something to do while being surrounded by rich jocks and spoiled princesses, right? I was about to climb the first step when someone bumped into me, sending us both falling with me butt first onto the ground. s**t. I looked up to see a guy I had never seen before, short brown hair, pale skin, glasses that framed his hazel green eyes. I completely forgot he was on top of me before he got up and reached out a hand to help me up. "Aha...sorry about that," he muttered. I shook my head and took his hand. His grip was firm. Strong. Super warm too. "It's alright.. It happens to the best of us," I said. He laughed. His smile was beautiful. His eyes crinkled at the corners, and it felt like a ray of sunshine just hit me. "Are you new here? I do not think I have seen you around before..." I asked. "Yep. The name's Noah. Noah Kingston," he said, flashing another white-toothed grin. He had a british accent. It made his words sound much fancier than intended. I nodded and smiled back at him. "I'm Aaliyah Ahuja. It's nice to meet you," I responded in a calm tone. "Likewise...anyway, I need to get going. You're my friend now, yeah? See ya!" He said and ran off before I could say anything. New friend, I guess.. I started climbing the steps when I felt an arm link through mine. I jerked back, about to punch the person when I saw it was no one other than Myra. My childhood best friend. Grew up with rich parents and is the youngest of the Alexwood family. Her skin was a milky white with her hair being a beautiful caramel color. It flowed down her shoulders, reaching near her lower back. She was slim and had a curvy body. She was stunning, to say the least. I smiled at her. "You know you almost got punched, right?" I said in a playful manner. "Beats me. Anything to get out of this hellhole," she responded. I looked at her, and then we both laughed while walking to our first class. "Did you hear?" Myra asked. "I always hear, we all do. It is apart of our five sen-" I responded, earning a smack from Myra to my head. "Be not so literal for once, please. For my sanity," she pleaded. "Literal? I was just stating fac-" I earned another smack. "Fine! Fine! Jesus!" I exclaimed. She just smiled and continued with her news. "We're getting a new kid. Apparently he's in our class," she said cheerfully. Probably the guy that bumped into me earlier. "Oh yeah, I think I saw him. I think he said his name was Noah or something." Now that I think about it…his last name sounded quite familiar, but I couldn't pinpoint it. "You met him already? Damn, my girl's working fast to get a boyfriend," Myra teased. "Oh, shut up." I smacked Myra's arm with my hand as we walked in. "And plus, you know my parents won't let me have a boyfriend." Myra shrugged. "Nothing like a secret relationship, right?" she said. As if that was possible. I was Indian and so were my parents. They didn't believe in love and only in the concept of arranged marriages. So it was a no-brainer when I tried to talk to them about boyfriends. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The bell rang. Finally. I was done with classes for the day. The whole day revolved around math, chemistry and English. I should've just skipped today. I was walking to my locker when someone bumped into me. Again. I turned around to see Noah again. "We should really start meeting properly. I do not want this to be our greeting to each other," I said through a smile. He composed himself and flashed a smile back. "Nothing like a unique greeting though, eh?" he said in a cheeky manner. "Oh, of course. I'd love to be bumped into whenever we meet," I uttered sarcastically. He smiled. I then looked past him to see a girl. But not just any girl. Her. Lily Haffman. My childhood bully. My sworn enemy. But before I could say anything, Noah spoke up. "Oh! Yeah, I should introduce you to Lily," he told me. What came out of his mouth next was something I did not expect. "This is Lily, my two-year-long girlfriend."
