When her father’s crushing debts threaten to destroy everything she loves, Clara Hayes has only one choice: accept a contract marriage with Damian Knight, the youngest and most feared billionaire in the country.

Cold, powerful, and impossible to read, Damian makes one thing clear their marriage is nothing more than a business arrangement. Love is not part of the deal.

But as they begin living under the same roof, Clara discovers there’s more to the ruthless billionaire than his icy exterior. Behind his wealth and power lies a man haunted by betrayal, dangerous secrets, and a past he refuses to confront.

As hidden enemies close in and family lies threaten to tear them apart, the line between obligation and genuine love begins to blur. Just when Clara dares to believe in a future with Damian, a shocking truth about their marriage changes everything.

Faced with heartbreak and impossible choices, Clara must decide whether to walk away forever or fight for the man she was never supposed to love.

In a world where money can buy almost anything, can love melt the heart of a ruthless billionaire?

The Price of Survival
The sound of shattering glass echoed through the small living room. Clara Hayes froze at the front door, her hand still gripping the grocery bag she had brought home after a long day at work. Her heart pounded as angry voices filled the house. “Mr. Hayes, this is your final warning!” a man shouted. “You’ve had six months to pay us back. No more excuses!” Clara rushed inside. “Dad!” Her father stood in the middle of the room with his head lowered. Two men in black suits towered over him while another held a folder filled with documents. Her mother sat on the sofa, quietly crying. “What is going on?” Clara asked, her voice trembling. One of the men looked at her. “You must be Clara Hayes.” She nodded cautiously. “Your father owes a very large amount of money. Since he has failed to repay the debt, this property will soon belong to our client.” Clara felt the blood drain from her face. “What?” “It’s true,” her father whispered. “I… I lost everything.” Clara stared at him in disbelief. “What do you mean you lost everything?” He slowly sat down, looking twenty years older than he had that morning. “My construction company collapsed.” “The investment failed.” “I borrowed money to save the business…” His voice broke. “…but I only made things worse.” Silence filled the room. Clara couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Her father had always been the strongest person she knew. He had worked day and night to give their family a comfortable life. Now he looked completely defeated. One of the collectors stepped forward. “You have seven days.” “If the money isn’t paid…” He glanced around the house. “…we’ll take everything.” Without another word, the three men walked out, slamming the front door behind them. The house became painfully quiet. Only her mother’s soft sobs could be heard. Clara slowly walked over to her father. “How much?” He refused to answer. “Dad…” “How much do you owe?” After a long pause, he whispered the number. Clara’s knees nearly gave out. It was more money than she could earn in twenty years. “How did this happen?” she asked. “I wanted to expand the company.” “I thought one successful project would solve everything.” “I was wrong.” He covered his face with both hands. “I’m sorry.” “I’ve ruined this family.” Tears filled Clara’s eyes. She had never seen her father cry before. She knelt beside him and held his hand. “We’ll find a way.” “We always do.” Even as she said the words, she knew she had no plan. That night, Clara couldn’t sleep. She sat beside her bedroom window, watching the rain fall across the empty street. Her salary barely covered the family’s monthly expenses. There was no bank that would lend her such an enormous amount of money. Friends couldn’t help. Relatives had already turned their backs on them. She felt trapped. Her phone suddenly rang. The number was unknown. She hesitated before answering. “Hello?” “Miss Clara Hayes?” The man’s voice was calm and professional. “Yes.” “I have an offer that may solve your family’s financial problems.” Clara frowned. “Who is this?” “I’m calling on behalf of Mr. Damian Knight.” She had never heard the name before. “What does he want?” “You’ll find out tomorrow.” “There will be a car waiting for you outside your apartment at nine o’clock.” “I don’t know this Damian Knight.” “You don’t need to.” “The only thing you need to know is this…” The man’s voice became colder. “If you refuse to meet him, your family will lose everything.” The line went dead. Clara stared at her phone in confusion. A few seconds later, someone knocked softly on the front door. She opened it. No one was there. Only a black envelope lay neatly on the welcome mat. Inside was a single elegant card. Embossed in silver letters were the words: Damian Knight CEO, Knight Global Holdings Beneath his name was a short handwritten message. Be in the car at 9:00 a.m. Don’t be late. Clara tightened her grip on the card. She had no idea who Damian Knight was. But deep inside, she felt that accepting his invitation would change her life forever. And perhaps… Destroy the heart she had spent years protecting.
