Dear Alexandrea This is not the way I intended for you to learn about your history and where you come from. This letter is only meant to reach you if I never got the chance to tell you directly, and if I have passed away. If you are reading this, I am sorry, Love, just know I loved you dearly. I am not innocent and I have made my mistakes, but my love for you has been the only thing in my life I have no regret for. May we meet again in the afterlife. Yours forever Max MAX's POV Laying next to Alexander on his bed in a horrible apartment we call home, I stared at the ceiling. He was still fast asleep, worn out from the previous night. I sighed and got up, deciding to just take a shower and get ready for work. It was almost 7:30am and I had to be there by 8:00am. As I came out of the bathroom, fully dressed and ready for work, I saw Alexander sitting upright on the bed eyeing me as I walked over to sit down and put my shoes on. The bright morning sunlight that peeks through the curtain, falls over his pale marble-toned abs, his bright ocean blue eyes sparkling with holy golden flecks. Alexander, the once-famous angel known as Gabriel, fell from Heaven a few decades ago. Now here he is staring at me with intense lust. He never spoke of the reason he fell from Heaven, but soon after he was cast down to Earth, war broke out between Heaven and Hell. He was such a pure soul... unlike me. With that thought, I shook my head and leaned over and gave him a soft peck on the lips, "I am off to work. See you at the bar tonight." "Don't be late again, Max. You know what happens if you keep me waiting." I chuckled at his playful scowl as I turned and left the apartment. *********** I am Merihem. I now go by the name of Max. I was the third angel to ever fall from Heaven, Lucifer and Ramiel being the first two to fall. The fall was painful for us, seen as we fell all the way to Hell and we were then consumed by the intense heat of our sins. The first seven angels to fall after Lucifer became the Princes of Hell, me being one of them. The nature of my sin made me the Prince of Lust. Lucifer had been my life-long friend ever since our creation at the beginning of time, so when he started the rebellion against God, I didn't hesitate to follow. The fall to Hell came as a shock to us, we didn't know it was possible, thus we learned the hard way that our actions had consequences. A war broke out in Hell between the Princes who carried hatred for Lucifer. After decades of war, Lucifer was overpowered and locked away in Purgatory. I was lost without my best friend, but I found solace in every demon that I bedded, every new soul that came through my gates felt the wrath of my emptiness as I burned them to the core with hellfire. I became lost in a world that I was not created for, I had broken my purpose and had become a shell of who I used to be. Word began to spread through Hell and soon I was the most feared Prince, some even went as far as calling me a King. Azazel, Prince of Vanity, became enraged that demons from their kingdom would travel to my own and bring me gifts to beg and to serve under my command. He tried to start another war, with the intention of throwing me into purgatory with Lucifer, himself. But Ramiel, the Prince of Pride, managed to calm Azazel with gifts and servants of his own, asking only that I owe him a favour in return. ***** My latest job that I've had for the past few years was simply an admin job. I worked for CPS in New York City. It is a lovely job with good hours and the salary isn't the worst I've seen. I try and keep to myself knowing I can't stay at one single job for longer than ten years, or else the suspicion will fall on the fact that I don't age like the rest of the humans who work with me. When I entered my office, Miranda and Devon were already there waiting for me, Devon holding a stack of papers that didn't seem like too much work. "Max, we have a small situation." Miranda began, but I quickly cut her off with a smile. "Good morning to you too, Miranda, my weekend was lovely thanks for asking." I said sarcastically. "Hey, Max, help us out here, please." Devon asked, his voice stressed. I sighed as I placed my briefcase on the table and sat down behind my desk in my office chair. "What do you guys need help with?" "We have a new hire for field work, and she needs training but we have never worked in the field, but you have and we just wanted to know if maybe you could help her with training?" Miranda rushed through her words, it took me a few seconds to realise they wanted me to go back out onto the field. "What?! You both know I no longer go out onto the field after what...happened...last time." I glared at both of them. "You don't need to interact with any of the foster parents unless necessary, she just needs a supervisor for the next two months until Harrison can sign off on her training. You just need to tail her, and make sure she stays out of trouble." Devon mediated, I could read the plea in his eyes. "Why can't Elaine do this?" I asked with a frown. "She is going on maternity leave tomorrow for the next month and a half. Please Max, we really need you to help us out. Frank is already shadowing two new recruits, we have no other options." Devon pleaded as he slid a $100 over to me on my desk. I smiled and took the hundred from the desk. I stood up and fixed my suit. "Where is this new Junior?"
