"Ms Laila O'Brien?" The caller said while she stood up wondering who the caller was. It turned out that the hospital had called her all because of her father and all efforts to call her all these while seemed abortive because her number seemed unreachable. Tilting her head in confusion, Laila did not remember knowing that her father was in the hospital three years ago. "Hey... bsbe" She hurriedly said and faked a smile again, inwardly feeling bitter as she looked at him. "Yes?" "I have to go out now and..." "Have you forgotten that we have to meet with your stepsister today? We agreed that we are gonna have a family dinner" He said while she looked at him. Then, she remembered the dinner night that everyone ate to their fill while she paid for the dinner out of kind gesture even though they excluded her from the conversation they talked about that night. However, seeing that she could not wait anymore, Laila smiled and handed over the card. "I can't wait. But you can have my card. Both you and my sister can eat to your fill" Laila said and smiled. "Let's see who will get disgraced tonight" she thought while he collected it as if he had won a lottery. Just then, there was a knock on the door and almost immediately, Rika came inside as if it was her home. In the past, Laila saw nothing wrong with what she did. Acting as if it was her home, she hugged her sister tightly. "I brought you this. I was told that ginseng helps with the baby. You should drink it" Rika said while Laila scoffed inwardly. The same drink that caused her to lose her baby and never made her give birth again. She thought as anger washed down her veins like a woman that had been stabbed but wore a fake smile as usual as she collected it and smiled. "You can enjoy the rest of your day. I'm off now" She said and walked out of the room with the bottle wishing that she had the powers to shove it it down her throat. However, she clamped her teeth across each other and threw the bottle right across the window as she drove towards the hospital hoping that her old man was fine. The moment she got to the hospital and handed over her card name, she was surprised to see the nurses whisper incoherent words as they stared at her. "Is there a problem?" She asked as she tapped on something on her phone. It turned out that she was trying to block the same card that contained millions of dollars she had given to her silly husband which was finally successful. Then, she looked at the nurses. "It's just that we haven't been able to get in touch with you all these while and when the Ms Laila did, it was another woman. There was no one to be with the old man" Laila clenched her fist as anger washed down her veins. Does this mean that Rika came to the hospital pretending to be her and still did not tell her that her old man was ill? "In fact, we handed you a list of what your father should eat and what he shouldn't but you fed him with everything causing a low sugar level which can kill him" "I am Laila O'Brien but I never knew all of these. The person you saw was probably my sister. From now henceforth, anything that happens should be directed to me. Here's my number" She said sternly as she handed them a piece of paper. Even up till the moment that Rika came over to their house, she didn't tell her about her father's illness. Now, she understood that her husband and sister had been planning this for a long time. "Yes ma'am" "How much is the bill?" She asked as she tapped on something. "It's been paid in full by a certain Gabriel Fernandez" A nurse said while Rika looked up almost immediately. "Where's he?" Even though they were not close in this world she came in, finding out that he was her true love, she decided she would do everything it took just to be with him. "Here am I" A cold voice said dominating the room while she turned around almost immediately. *** "I still like you," Justin said and smiled as he carcassed Rika's hands softly. For a while, the both of them stared at each other as if they were in a romantic world of their own. "You should stop that. You're married now and what happened between us back then was just a fling" Rika said almost immediately. "I..." Just as he was about to say something else, the waitress lowered her head. "Your card to process your payment please" She asked while Justin handed her the card and stared at Rika even though she pretended not to know. After a while, the machine beeped. "I'm sorry but it says card declined." "That's not possible" Justin said and smiled. He knew that was his wife's multimillion dollars savings in there and it wasn't possible for her to decline it since it took her ages before she could get the black card. After a while, the machine beeped again. "It's still the same" At this time, Justin got furious because he thought that the woman was only trying to interrupt their precious moments as he glared at her. "Hey, if you don't know how to do your job, let someone else do it. What the hell is this?" He yelled in anger causing a scene while Rika looked around and held his hands. "It's seems she's still new here. You're causing a scene" Rika muttered feeling embarrassed already. "Retry" He said. Few minutes later, the machine beeped. "It's not going through. If you don't have the money to pay, you both will end up in jail tonight!" The waitress suddenly said angrily while Justin snatched the card from her and stared at it. It was the same card that he had always wanted and he had it. He was sure of the amount in it. What the hell was going on? He thought and placed a call across his wife who didn't pick up. "Fuvk, she's not picking up the call!" Justin said in anger. "What? Are you sure she didn't give you the wrong card?" Rika said as her heart raced. "No! She's too dumb to give me a fake card! Try calling her on your phone also or else, we both will end up in jail tonight!"
