Chapter 3

Looking around with a lost gaze, Laila's eyes darted around like a ship without an anchor. “What's going on?” She muttered to herself, still confused like a woman who had lost her bearing. The last thing she remembered was she on the brink of death while a goddess appeared to her. Was the goddess real? Has she truly been reborn or everything was a dream? She thought as confusion overwhelmed her the more. After checking through the card and discovered that she was with a baby, she didn't know what exactly was going on. For a while, it seemed like Laila had forgotten whom she truly was. “Why am I back here?” She wondered, perplexed as she watched people continue their normal life as if nothing else mattered. Shouldn't she have been dead? Rushing her way through the nearest public toilet, she stood in front of the mirror and stared at herself. However, unlike the past, Laila had a tinted short hair but now, her hair was long. She seemed more beautiful than the future she had come from. Does this mean that her desires already came to pass? Laila wondered with shock still written all over face as she checked the time and discovered that it was 2021 which only meant that she was three years back from the future. And almost immediately, painful memories of what had happened in the future came flooding her and she held onto the hem of her clothes tightly as she stared into space. Tears fell from Laila's eyes as she held the sink tightly. She couldn't believe that she had fallen in love with the man who had betrayed her and had chosen to love a woman who never had good intentions towards her despite the fact that she had loved her as her sister. Now that she was reborn, this was the time for her to take revenge against those two for everything they had done to her. However, Laila's heart shook rapidly wondering why she was back to this particular time. Was this the beginning of everything? She wondered as she tried to think straight. Unable to answer the questions, she had hurriedly driven back to their old villa where she and Justin lived before they moved out. However, she was met with a man who was fast asleep in an untidy room despite the fact that it was midday. Laila's teeth clamped against each other as she remembered this moment. She was so much in love with him that she would do everything possible just for him to be happy. How could she have fallen in love with someone to the extent that she couldn't see that he was a scum that had intentions of betraying her? Laila thought as anger flushed her veins. It took everything in her not to rip him apart as she watched him sleep. She remembered that she had also offered him a job at her father's company after he lost his job because of his tackiness even when he refused to work, claiming that her money was enough to sustain them. Yet, here he was, sleeping soundly as if nothing else mattered to him. Angered and bittered over everything that had happened from her world, Laila hit him so hard that he snapped his eyes open as confusion hit him. Never had he been so hit to that extent. However, he was surprised to have seen that his wife had awakened him. “Did you hit me?” He asked and yawned lazily as he sat up feeling a bit angry because of the impact of the pain. However, it took everything in Laila not to get so mad at him because she didn't want him to suspect anything. Instead, she put on a smile and looked at him. “I tapped you slightly because I realized how tired you must have been from the s*x we had last night” Laila said softly. Just because she had been so much in love with him that she would do everything to make him happy, he had let it go and so, almost most immediately, she watched Justin nod his head while his expression became relaxed to an extent, not suspecting anything. “So, what did the Doctor say?” He asked instead while Laila frowned inwardly. She wished she could just speed up the whole process and have her revenge that moment. The more she saw him, the more irritated she became. However, she wore a fake smile still. “I'm carrying a baby girl and she's healthy” Laila said instead while he nodded his head. She clenched her fist again in pain. She didn't realize that it would be so hard being with a man that had killed her again. “It's just for a short time” She muttered in between gritted teeth. “Did you say something?” Justin asked while she hurriedly shook her head. He nodded and smiled which she mistook as a fake one. Then, her mind clicked as she suddenly remembered why she was brought back to a time three years apart. This was the beginning of her nemesis. The same period where Rika had manipulated Justin into destroying her slowly by giving her a medicine she claimed would help with her baby. The same medicine that had damaged her baby and destroyed her fertility in total. She remembered that she had taken it earnestly because it was from her stepsister and she had trusted the both of them even though they used to be lovers in the past. Laila clenched her fist in anger as she watched him adore the card as if it was some precious gift. Now, everything was starting to make more sense. It didn't seem like Rika and Justin broke up because they used to be lovers in the past. She and her father were only their final target just to get what they wanted. When she thought about that, anger rushed through her veins. This time more worse than ever. “Now that I am alive, I promise that both you and your lover will not go scot-free for everything you have done to me and my father” Laila thought as she bit her lip and watched him with blood filled eyes. However, a phone call jolted her from her thoughts as she stared at her phone.
