Shadows and whispers

On Monday, Zara went to school...her home was not the happy home she was used to..her mum had become a shadow of herself. She doesn't know what to say or do anymore... TeeTee would soon be returning back to school... Zara was overwhelmed ... She couldn't cry,sleep or even eat.she had eye bags. She dressed up wearing her uniform which was a short pleated midthigh length, a black net body socks,a pink short sleeves shirt with a black tie and a black jacket and carried her school bag. Her mum's driver dropped her off. After assembly...she noticed students were staring at her and whispering... It bothered her a lot. She just sat on her seat in class and ignored everyone. She saw her best friend and her boyfriend holding hands and hugging... the class clown Julius was the first one to sight them.

Julius: heiii... Abomination!!! Guys!! Zara and Brian don breakup ooo! So na Khloe dey chop Zara's leftover.(the class laughs)

Binta: why won't he leave her? See the way she looks miserable...(laughs)Khloe and Brian look way better.

Brian: our little perfect miss Zara is going through a lot presently(mocking her) I just learnt from a very reliable source that Dr Williams just married a new wife in his village.

A student: it's a lie!

Khloe: it's true! (rolls her eyes) looks like little miss Zara's life isn't so perfect after all.

To say Zara was surprised was an understatement. She was hurt,she felt betrayed,she didn't show it. She wanted to know how Khloe and Brian knew about what was going on in her family.zara wanted to hit anything... anybody..she was fuming..she stared at both of them in disgust.

Julius: Zara say something now..

Olumide: y'all should mind your business! And get ready for mr Albert's mathematics test..

Zara was deeply hurt,she went out of the classroom to the girls toilet to get her self together. When she was done,she went out of the toilet and saw olumide resting on the wall in front of the restroom,when he saw her,he gave her a soft smile and said..

Olumide: h..how are you?

Zara: how do you feel when your best friend and boyfriend pop out barely few days after you saw your boyfriend cheating on you with a junior and exposing my family problem in front of the class? Uhn?

Olumide: oh I'm so sorry..I didn't mean it that way.

Zara: (smiles) it's okay olumide... Thanks for standing up for me..

They started walking off to their class.

Olumide: i...it's okay zara.i just came here to check up on you.

Zara: awwn that's so sweet, thanks.

Olumide: also if you want to talk about anything... I'll be right here.

Zara: thank you. I really appreciate. Oh I need to go and study for Mr Albert's test. At least it will get my mind off these things.

Olumide: oh about that .... There's no test(rubbing his neck and avoiding eye contact) I just lied to get the class quite.

Zara: (laughs) oh really??

Olumide: see how the class is quite now (smiles)

Zara: the fear of Mr Albert's tests is the begining of wisdom.

They both chuckled, then Zara went back to her seat and had her sit. She tuned everybody out and brought out her note...few minutes later a teacher entered their classroom.
