Vida's POV
I stared blankly at the cold, sterile walls of the principal's office, my mind racing as my heartbeat echoed in my ears. Anita was gone. Gone, just like Cecilia. And I couldn't shake the gnawing feeling in my gut that this was only the beginning. Whatever dark force had taken them wasn’t finished. Not yet.
But that wasn’t my immediate problem. My immediate problem was the fact that Principal Johanson was about to walk through that door any second now and probably end my life as I knew it. The rumors about me and the twins had already spread like wildfire, and now I had dared to stand up in front of the entire school and question the authority. I could practically feel my future crumbling into dust right before my eyes.
