Chapter 12 - The Purple Light

~Five months later~ "I guess this is our new life, eh?" Andy looked at Nixon. He was laying down in the tallgrass outback. She laid down beside him staring at the pretty blue sky. The wind carried a nice breeze tossing dirty blonde tendrils in Nixon's line of sight. Andy brushed them away slowly making him jump in surprise. "Just moving the hair out of your face." She laughed genuinely at him. "Uhm. Thank you." He mumbled. "You know I wanted to ask a question. It's kind of personal." She says, turning to face him. "Is that so? Go ahead." He replied. They both looked at one another, just gazing back grinning. "Well, do you have anyone back home?" "Yes..." He frowned. He missed his big brother Adam. He always had his back. He hoped he was okay and the aliens didn't reach him. "Me too." She said, softly. "I miss them." "Yeah, I miss my family too." He looked down at her balled-up fists. She was shaking. He wanted to do something brave, something daring. He was tired of being a coward. Being a crybaby. He leaped faith. He placed his hands on hers gently. He intertwined his fingers with her small ones. The same hands that hit him upside the head. She hit hard for a girl yet her hands were soft like pillows. "...Nixon...?" She trailed off. "It's okay." He said, drawing circles with his thumb over her palm. It was comforting. "I'm fine...I-I'm just angry is all." She sighed. "You aren't fine. Honestly, neither am I." He tightened his hold on her hand. "Nixon...-" She started to say until the interruption of Jax happened. "Hey, what are you two up to?" Jax disrupted. He peered down at their hands holding. He was relaxing on a tree stump nearby the cabin, watching them both. It pissed Nixon off that he would ruin a moment like this. "Nothing."  Andy stood up brushing grass off her shorts. She yanked Nixon up by his arm and took his hand into hers. "Come on, let's go." "Okay." ... Blade, Nixon, Zane, and Angelica gathered supplies last time. It had been five months since then.  The stores were emptied. No people around. The aliens had got to them already.  So, that meant they were close. It was almost as though they were waiting for them. "Hey, Cherry you want to hang with me?" Jax popped his head in the kitchen. Cherry was sitting down legs crossed. She was applying make-up on her pale complexion. "Sure." She smacked her lips and placed her lip gloss back in her purse and followed him. They went to the bedroom. She wasn't surprised this is what he meant by "hang" going to mess around again. He pushed her against the wall roughly pulling up her top just enough to expose her pink bra. She gasped sharply as he lightly nibbled on her collar bone moving down to her breast. "I'm not your pet," He growled. "You're mine." As he said this, Cherry forced him off abruptly shoving him on the bed. "Shut up!" She struck him hard on the right cheek. "I told you already. I'm not yours and you're not mine, okay? This is just fun." Cherry breathed out, a breathe she didn't realize she was holding. The past still lingered by clear as day. She couldn't get with another guy. The last one left her hurting for a very long time. She still feels the pain. That day felt like yesterday. Kevin was his name. She dated him for three years and he cheated on her. ~Flashback~ It was a cloudy day. Cherry waited at the bus stop completely submerged in rainwater. She wore a crop top and black booty shorts with combat boots. She was supposed to be home; at a family dinner. She was eighteen years old and still occupied her parent's house.  She was attending college this year for cosmetology. She had plans for the future. She was standing their arms crossed, and her eyes closed. She was listening to the pitter-patter of the raindrops. When something tapped her shoulder, it felt like leather. She skinned her eyes open to see a handsome young man. He was standing in her bubble; protruding it.  He was wearing a leather jacket exactly as she pictured it, feeling the material touch her shoulder. "Hey, aren't you cold?" He chuckled. She noticed her attire probably wasn't the best choice to be stuck in the rain with. "I'm fine." She lied. "You're shivering though." He laughed heartily. "Here take this, you can return it tomorrow." "But I won't take this bus again-" She stopped as soon as she noticed he was gone. He just disappeared. She slipped the jacket on immediately finding comfort in it. It looked like an expensive brand. She fitted her hands in the pockets feeling something in the left one. She dug a piece of paper out with writing on it. She read aloud. "Hey, this is Kevin if you borrowed this make sure to return it. Call this number (405) *******, thank you!" ~Present time~ "Cherry! Is anyone home?!" Jax waved in her face. "Oh, sorry." "Damn, that hurt. Do you enjoy slapping me?" He rubbed his red cheek, smirking at her. "As long as I can kiss you it doesn't matter. I will be your pet then." His eyes darkened. She thought of slapping him again. It sure did feel good doing it. But she thought against it. He will surely get angry. "Shut up and kiss me!" She barked out. He did aggressively, shoving her into the bedsheets crashing his mouth onto hers. His teeth grazed against her bottom lip and she held back a cry as he bit down. She could taste metal; it was warm, sweet, and salty. It was her blood. She loved the flavor. "Sorry, just know what you asked for." He sneered at her. "I do." She returned the pain. She bit back. "f**k, Cherry." He gasped sharply, pulling back touching his sore mouth. He saw red on his hand. "Funny, real funny." He came off as cold, and irritable. "What you aren't mad are you?" She almost laughed out loud but stopped herself at the look on his face; it was a dangerous look. "No, I'm not mad." He said with a sadistic smile forming on his lips. "I just feel like you did something you shouldn't have." "Oh....sorry..." She muttered. "Sorry won't cut it." ... "I can't believe we still have seen no signs of aliens." Lily stretched her limbs peering back at Blade focused on shooting target dummies. Yes, he got new target dummies just like the ones back at the mansion. "Yeah, it is strange." He didn't take his eyes off the mark, the bullet pierced through the red mark on the spot. Perfect. It was right on spot. "Why do you think that is?" "I don't know." He shrugged. "Maybe they're waiting for something." Waiting for something. Like what? Follow the purple light, Lily, follow it and you'll find out more. "...Follow the purple light..." "What was that?" Blade looked at her like she was out of her mind. "Oh, nothing, just I have to go." She sprinted off towards the cabin. When something caught her eyes. It was a spark, a purple one. She drew closer to it; a purple light was blaring in the middle of a cluster of evergreen trees. She was so close to reaching it. Each step grew heavier, as she moved slowly to it. She was feeling tensed and expected something bad to happen. She was nearly there when suddenly she was being knocked off her feet. She's flying in midair for a split second when she lands harshly on the ground. The air in her lungs escapes her body for a moment, it hurts. She sees a blurry figure of a man in front of her. He didn't look like Blade or any of the boys for that matter. "Hey, get away from her!" She can hear Blade faintly, he sounds angry. Who's he talking to? Who was that blurry man? What's going on?
