Chapter 18 - Saved by salt

Andy was moving up to a set of purple steps. It led up to a spaceship. Wait, a spaceship? She wasn't moving. Someone was moving her or something. Two Oculos had both her arms. She got tased a couple of minutes ago and had a fast recovery. She stole a sideways glance at Jax and his capturers. He looked almost defeated. His brown eyes frowning if that was even possible. "This is fun." She tried laughing it off. "Were probably f*****g goners," Jax growled through his teeth. "I-I don't want to die..." "Hold up. Wait, are you crying, Jax?" Andy's lips tilted slightly at the corners. "f**k no." He rushed out. "I don't do that shit." "Now are you lying about it," Andy smirked? "Jax Damien crying. This is too good." "If we make it out alive. I swear to god, Andy, I'm going to make you pay." He settled his eyes on her, staring intensely at her. It freaked her out. "Please don't look at me like that." She shivered. "Arrgh.." The two aliens brought them to the space doors. The stairs were high up, and they walked up to them with aliens attached to their arms. "If...we leave earth in this spaceship...will we die?" Andy asked. She was scared now. "I'm not going to lie to you, Andy." He said, quietly. "We probably will..." As soon as Jax said those words Andy's heart felt like it stopped. She didn't want to die yet. She had so much to live for. Her fear turned into panic. "f*****g get off bastards!" She screamed hitting at the Oculos. Out of nowhere a bag of salt was thrown at them. It spilled on Andy's clothes and covered her face. She thought about what was going on. When the aliens dropped instantly to the steps making horrible sounds. Like, dying noises, and high-pitched squeals. It hurt just to hear it. Their gray skin was bubbling up into ugly blisters that pop out gross puss. It was like getting burned by fire. "Gross." Jax scrunched his face up. "Let's go little girl." He picked her up without waiting for her to respond and threw her over his shoulder. "Ahh!" She screamed at him. "Put me down, you mad man." "No." "Why not? I have two legs and I'm capable of walking on my own." She argued. "Just don't want to." He smirked. Then they saw their savers. Their team. "Well, well, what do you know you were right, Blade," Zane said, pleased he killed four aliens on his own. "I told you salt works." Blade patted him on the back. "Now next time believe me." He teased. Zane nodded. "Hey!" Nixon looked up at Andy. "You okay?" His eyes shot to Jax and back at Andy. He noticed Jax carrying Andy and it made him uncomfortable. Andy was a good friend to him. He didn't want her to associate with a dickhead like Jax. "I will be once he puts me down." She pounded his back with her fist like a toddler. "...Jax..." Cherry finds him. But he looked completely fine. Something unpleasant stirred in her seeing him holding Andy on his back like that. It infuriated her. But they weren't a thing, right? So, it shouldn't matter. "Fuck." David climbed the spaceship and wrote something down on a notepad and crammed it into one of Oculos ' hands. It read the message and immediately followed whatever orders he gave. "Get them!" Andy cried. "Those monsters shouldn't get away with this. Especially David." "Dad?" Lily asked, confused. "No time to explain," Jax said, quickly. His hand slid down Andy's back and stayed there. He held her over his shoulder with ease. Like she was a featherweight. "Put me down!" She protested. "Seriously I have to go after the ship!" "You can't," Jax said, knowing it was already about to take off. It was for the best. They didn't want to fight off that many aliens right now. "Noooo!" Andy winced as the ship took off a bright purple light shooting out of the bottom of it. Blade felt disappointed. He still wanted to stick to his promise and kill all of them. "Let's head back guys. You all did well today...well most of you." He said, looking at Jax and Andy. "I'll talk to you two later." Blade gave them an unhappy look. "Ooh, you're in trouble." Jax mocked. "Seriously just drop me." She rolled her eyes at him. "Okay." He slipped her off his shoulder and held her above a pile of snow and let go. She fell in it covered in snow. "Ass." She glared. "You wanted it." He shrugged. - What was up with Jax lately? He was acting friendly with Andy. He never acted that way with her. Cherry kept thinking it over and over in her head. It wasn't helping her. But he was different from her. How did that happen in one day? How? She didn't care. He was a boy toy. Well, now she doesn't have anyone. Also, if he was after Andy he was going to have trouble. She was impossible. She wasn't an easy target. "So, salt works." Nixon smiled, a nerdy look on his face. He was cute, Cherry thought. She had to stop herself right there. What the heck? Gross. "Yeah, it does." Blade nodded his head. Then a look of shame crossed his face. "I'm sorry guys. I should have known he-he was one of them." He took a swig at his wine glass. Lily did the same. She wasn't taking it too well. "It's my fault." She surprised everyone speaking up. They were seated at the kitchen table, some in chairs, others on the couch. It smelled of spaghetti. Blade made it for dinner. "I shouldn't have let it get personal. I let my emotions get in the way." She explained further. "No, Lily. I'm the leader and I make the calls. This call was wrong." Blade admitted. "Just know it was only human what you did." He reassured her. She went silent after that. So, he hoped that meant she understood. "So, we have new rules." Blade changed the subject getting back to business. "Which means first off no one leaves without letting me know, and second off you can't be alone out there." "Alright, so we have to have a tag-along everywhere we go outside the home?" Zane asked in a tone that he was unhappy about these new rules. "That's stupid." Jax finally agreed with Zane on something for once. "Well, stupid or not it's a rule." Blade glared at both of them. Zane stood from the couch, his bowl empty. He rinsed it at the sink and stuck it in the dishwasher, then he turned to Blade. "May I be excused if that's all, sir." He said, coldly. "Well, yes, Zane. I thought I told you to stop calling me "sir"?" Blade looked at him puzzled. "Right, er, Blade." He scratched his head feeling suddenly shy. It was weird referring to the leader by his name. Angelica giggled from the spot on the couch Zane left. Zane caught her eyes and gave her a small awkward smile. He wasn't used to this. This nice 'thing' and smiling at people. He hated people. But somehow these people got it out of him. "Well, I'm going to head out as well," Jax said, throwing his bowl in the sink without bothering to wash it. He shoved past Zane. Zane glared at him. Jax hated Zane. But it wasn't always like that. They used to be close. They were brothers after all. Sharing the same mom. Like, Blade. It's just hard to talk about because their mom was a trashy one at that.
