Chapter 17 - Unsettling feeling

1317 Words
Blade had an unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach. Something was seriously wrong. "Bring the guns, Zane," Blade instructed. Zane gave him an understanding nod and packed the guns and ammunition. "Everybody be ready for anything." He skimmed around him. Cherry was too chill about this, Angelic was scared as usual but had Zane by her side, and Nixon thinking like always, Lily had a gut feeling just like Blade's. Call it superstition if you will, but she knew something was off. "Let's go!" Blade called. They all looked like penguins in their layered clothes and coats. Zane layered upon two black t-shirts and a thick blue coat matching his piercing blue eyes, and solid black boots. Cherry slipped on a pink coat over her thick sweater dress. Angelica had on a dark-green coat and tan boots, Blade wore a black coat and thick gray boots. Nixon had his curls stuffed in the hood of his lime-green coat. Lily's attire consisted of a red coat, white on the inside, and brown boots. Her blond hair down past her shoulders. "I hope they're okay," Anglica mumbled. "We all do," Blade said. "After we find them I don't want anyone leaving without a word with me. We stick together like glue." * "Did we lose them?" Andy looked over her shoulder. The aliens weren't there. "Looks like it-" An Oculos appeared behind Jax. Its black soulless eyes gaped at them like it was hungry. "Watch out!" Andy screamed. Jax turned his head too late. The Oculos caught him by the throat. He choked out pleas that the alien turned a blind eye to. They didn't care. These creatures lacked humane feelings. Andy was conflicted in her head about whether to run for it and leave Jax to die or to stay there with him and help. He was a d**k to her. So, she should repay the favor, right? But she couldn't. She wouldn't stoop to his level. She would fight for him. For an asshole, if it meant keeping her honor, keeping her humane feelings in check. "Let him go! Trust me, he isn't worth your time," Andy shouted out. The alien dropped him and she ran to help break his fall. His weight collapsed on her, causing her to fall on him. She couldn't lift his weight. He was too heavy. So, he fell on her. Smashing her body. His head in the crook of her neck. He breathed in her scent, it was fresh like flowers. A tomboy who takes the time to smell good. He had his stereotypes, alright. "Thanks..." he said, timidly, a confused look plastered on his face as he peered down at her. "Ah, g-get off...you fatso." She complained, pushing at his chest trying to get him off. "Right." He stood up. This time they were surrounded by aliens. "You know you're kinda stupid for saving me, right?" Jax told her. "I know, trust me, I know." She said, not regretting what she did. There were more than three aliens. Roughly eight of them. "Well, I'm glad I met you, Andy," Jax says quietly. "I mean you're so headstrong....and different..." "Uhm, alright, well, I'm not feeling mutual feelings here sorry, buddy." She replied, awkwardly. "Understandable." He shrugged, expecting as much. "I've always been an asshole, ya know." He spoke from the heart he didn't even know he still possessed. "Yeah, I've noticed." She laughed. He laughed too. They were laughing, expecting the worst. The aliens finally made their move. Two of them grabbed Andy by the arms and Jax too. "Is this where they abduct us like David?" Andy joked. "I think so." Right on cue, as they mentioned his name. David, Lily's dad, is there. "Yep, just aboard the spaceship. Don't resist and it'll be much easier." David said, coolly. "They got you too?" Andy questioned. "Do I look like I have two aliens on me?" He smirked. Realization sets in. David was one of them. He was at their side all along. He was a traitor. She knew this from all the obvious points. For example, he was unscathed, free to do as he pleases and he was standing by what looked like a spaceship, arms crossed, and a satisfied grin on his features. The spaceship was purple. It was about the size of their cabin or twice the size of that. "Why? Why are you doing this?" Andy demanded, thrusting her arms out, punching, kicking at anything, anyone. She wanted to punch David and break his nose. How could he do that? Wasn't he Lily's father? Was anything he said even true? "I told you already. The aliens want to increase their numbers and try a new experiment. Like the one with Lily." "So, what if you're gonna breed more humans with Oculos?" Jax asked, dumbfounded. "You're f*****g sick man. I knew I couldn't trust you from the start." He scoffed in disbelief. "Oh my god!" Andy exclaimed. "That so-called love story with you and the aliens was made up, wasn't it?" "Well, only partially. The Sunflower was a good volunteer. I wanted to be on the frontline of this new science experiment so I put myself up for it. I copulated with an Oculos. Then left a little experiment for her to live on earth. So, I could monitor her. She was our first successful experiment. She doesn't even know how special she is. She hasn't even transformed yet... into a beautiful creature. To the grand Oculos." David rambled on like the 'real mad scientist' "You aren't getting away with this! You sick f**k!" Andy screamed out. Struggling uncontrollably, legs kicking, arms hitting and the Ocuolos pulled out a taser and shot her. A blue beam shone on her and electrocuted her. She froze and shook like she was having a seizure. Then she stopped struggling and her head went limp. She blacked out. "Hey, don't touch her!" Jax hissed. He started fighting it now. The Oculos turned to him and he knew he was next to be tased. * "Okay, everyone! Be sure you're being stealthy and quiet." Blade whispered back to them. "I think they're in trouble if the timeline you gave me is correct. Something isn't right." He said, half to himself. "I agree something must've happened to them," Lily said, walking close to him. So, close they could be holding hands. She wanted to reach out to him. But gulped, afraid. "Yeah, this is weird," Cherry admitted. "Even for Jax, he would be back by now." "You sure?" Nixon asked. "I mean Andy will be back now, but Jax isn't that responsible. What if he's just hunting for something?" "Yeah, well, I know him better. He would've told me." Cherry argued, a little annoyed with Nixon now. She was considering his statement now. She and Jax weren't dating or anything, but it still pissed her off. That he wouldn't tell her his whereabouts like she meant nothing. Thinking back, she clarified that he and she were nothing. This was just a game. A fun game. She shouldn't have expected anything more or less. "...I'm sorry..." Nixon lowered his gaze. "I-I forgot he's...your..." He trailed off. "My what? Hold up, no we are not a thing. Ew, that's gross," Cherry said, so quickly. "But-" Cherry slammed a hand over his mouth. "Just shut up, okay?" She glared. "He means nothing to me, alright? We aren't dating." She said, more for herself to believe than for Nixon. Nixon looked taken aback by this action. His face was completely red. "...O-okay..." He stuttered out flustered. "Sorry," Cherry said, letting him go. "It's fine," Nixon muttered. They continued following the trail path in the woods. "I hope they're okay..." Angelica said. Everyone responded with a head nod in agreement or whispered a hopeful yeah back to her. They all wanted their two friends to be alright.
