Chapter 2 Ivy’s POV “What do you want now?” Ronan asked, his eyes burning with irritation. His voice made me snap out of my dazed state as I turned to leave but it was too late. “And where does she think she’s going?” I froze at the spot. “Oh,” he drawled.. Ronan stepped forward and leaned casually against the wall, arms crossed over his chest, looking me over as if I were a stray dog that had wandered into their den. “Are you really shocked to know I am your mate?” he mocked. I stood frozen, humiliation burning through me. He had actually known I was his mate all these while? He felt the pull too? He continued, stepping closer. “Did you really think I would accept you? Like really?” “I…” my words were not coming. “Pathetic,” he cut me off. “A weak, sniveling omega as my mate? The Moon Goddess must have a sick sense of humor.” “Crying already?.” Ronan asked. Yes he was right. My eyes were already blurring with tears. My legs felt unsteady beneath me. I had known he would never want me. Ronan was respected, powerful, and the future of the Blackwood Pack. He needed a strong Luna by their side, someone who could match his dominance. I was nothing. I had always been nothing. “Tell me, little omega,” he taunted, tilting his head. “Did you actually think I’d accept you?” I shook my head quickly, my voice barely above a whisper. “No.” “Good,” he said, stepping forward. He stood right in front of me. I looked down, unable to look him in the eyes but he held my chin and lifted it so that I was now staring right into his eyes. “I would love you to experience how rejection pain feels like.” He laughed wickedly. And then continued. “In a few days' time, I’ll be getting married to Selene and I will love to see you witness it. I’ll reject you right in front of everyone.” The words hit me as I felt the pain in my chest. My body instantly recoiled from the invisible force of the severing bond. He pushed me as I fell to the ground, clutching my chest. The pain was more than what I heard about rejection. He chuckled darkly. “How do you feel?” His eyes glowed with mirth as he took a step forward. “I might as well help you feel better.” He said as and squatted in front of me. “I have never accepted this bond, not now and not any day..” Another sharp, searing pain. It felt as if my soul was being torn apart, piece by piece as I continued to wince in pain while struggling at the ground. My wolf whimpered inside me, curling into itself. In sobs, I broke the silence. “I reject you. I, Ivy Gray, reject you, Ronan Blackwood. I hate you with the last drop of my blood over and over again.” He laughed out loud. Shaking his head, “Like your words meant anything.” Pain shot through me, but the bond refused to break. Selene had been watching from far, her arms folded across her chest. She stepped forward now, a wicked smile curving her lips. “Dreaming of taking my Luna position? How humiliating for you,” she purred. “To think, you actually believed you were worth something.” She turned to Ronan. “You did the right thing. She’s nothing but a burden.” I had thought that at least knowing my mate and feeling the pull would give me some form of power but I was wrong. Instead, I had become weaker. I felt even weaker the moment they rejected me. Ronan has made his hatred clear, and Selene only fueled the flames. She whispered poison into his ears, twisting his perception of me even further. Whatever hatred he had before deepened into something worse. The next day, the rumors began. Selene spread lies about me, making sure the pack despised me just as much as Ronan did. She painted me as a desperate, pathetic omega who had tried to trap the Blackwood Alpha’s son into accepting me. The whispers followed me wherever I went and I was ashamed to walk among the pack members.. “Did you hear? She threw herself at the Alpha’s son.” “She’s so cheap. Thinking she could be Luna?” “What a joke.” Everywhere I turned, there were sneers, laughter, disgusted glares. My life became unbearable. The mate bond was a constant, unrelenting wound, and Ronan did nothing to ease my suffering. He knew how painful the rejection pain was and they wanted me to really feel it so deeply. Their words grew louder and louder as I ran. The echoes of their mocking voices still haunting me, each cruel words searing into my memory as tears slid down my eyes uncontrollably. I fled until I reached the quiet river bank. There, beneath the glow of the moon light, I fell to the cold ground, tears streaming down my face. I was tired, tired of the endless torment, the maltreats, the hates and most importantly, the rejection. Maybe this was my fate, this was what I was meant for. To experience pain and nothing more. It was clear now. Not like I chose this fate, not like I chose to be this weak to deserve this hatred. Not like I love who I was. I also wanted to be strong, relenting, courageous like other werewolves in this pack. Suddenly, Arya's voice filled my head. “Maybe we should leave, we don’t belong here.”
