MARRIED TO MY ENEMY BILLIONAIRE
Chapter 1; The Blackwood Mansion stood atop a hill overlooking the city, its towering structure glowing beneath the golden morning sun. To outsiders, it was a symbol of wealth, power, and perfection. To Evelyn Grace, it was a prison. At twenty years old, Evelyn had spent more than half her life within those walls. Ever since her parents died in a tragic accident, the Blackwoods had taken her in. The newspapers called it an act of kindness. Only Evelyn knew the truth. She was never adopted as a daughter. She was raised as a servant. "Evelyn!" The sharp voice cut through the silence. Evelyn immediately put down the silver tray she had been polishing and hurried toward the grand staircase. Standing there was Isabella Blackwood. Beautiful. Elegant. Cruel. Everything about Isabella screamed privilege. Her designer dress probably cost more than Evelyn would earn in ten years. Yet despite having everything, Isabella always looked at Evelyn with hatred. "You call this clean?" Isabella demanded, pointing at the polished railing. Evelyn glanced at it. There wasn't a single speck of dust. "I'm sorry, Miss Isabella. I'll clean it again." "Of course you will." A satisfied smile appeared on Isabella's face. She loved making Evelyn apologize. It reminded her who was superior. As Evelyn began wiping the railing again, Isabella crossed her arms. "You know what your problem is?" Evelyn remained silent. She had learned long ago that silence was safer. "You walk around acting like some innocent princess." Isabella laughed. "It must be difficult remembering you're nothing more than a charity case." The words struck like a knife. Even after years of hearing them, they still hurt. But Evelyn showed no reaction. That only irritated Isabella more. Before she could continue, another voice interrupted. "Isabella." Both women turned. Margaret Blackwood stood at the top of the stairs. Perfectly dressed. Perfectly composed. Perfectly cold. "The Henderson family will be joining us tonight," Margaret announced. "Everything must be flawless." "Of course, Mother." Margaret's gaze shifted briefly toward Evelyn. Not with affection. Not even with dislike. Just indifference. As if Evelyn were another piece of furniture. "Make sure she does her job properly." Then she walked away. The conversation was over. Evelyn lowered her eyes and continued working. By noon, her arms ached. By evening, her feet burned. Still, the work never ended. The Blackwoods expected perfection from everyone around them. Especially from Evelyn. As she arranged flowers in the dining hall, she overheard members of the staff whispering. "Did you hear?" "Hear what?" "Daniel Blackwood is coming home." Evelyn froze. Daniel Blackwood. The eldest son. The heir. The one family member who rarely visited. The one person who had been gone for years. Rumors about him filled the mansion. Some said he was one of the most successful lawyers in the world. Others said he could destroy entire corporations with a single lawsuit. But what everyone agreed on was this: Daniel Blackwood was nothing like the rest of his family. Evelyn had only seen him once when she was younger. Just once. And yet she still remembered his face. Not because he was kind. But because he had looked at her. Really looked at her. As if he noticed she existed. The memory vanished as Isabella's voice echoed through the room. "Evelyn!" She hurried toward her. "Yes, Miss Isabella?" "The guests will arrive soon. Finish the flowers and stay out of sight." "Yes, Miss Isabella." Isabella smirked. "Good. At least you know your place." Hours later, luxury cars filled the driveway. Powerful businessmen. Politicians. Socialites. All gathered beneath the glittering chandeliers. The Blackwoods welcomed them with charming smiles. No one would have guessed how much darkness hid behind those smiles. Evelyn moved quietly among the guests, carrying trays and avoiding attention. Then she heard something. "...Daniel arrives tomorrow morning." She looked up. Reginald Blackwood stood near the fireplace speaking with Margaret. For the first time that night, tension appeared on his face. Margaret's expression tightened. "He shouldn't stay long." "He might ask questions." "We'll handle it." Questions? What questions? Before Evelyn could hear more, Isabella appeared. "Why are you standing there?" Evelyn immediately lowered her head. "I'm sorry." "Then stop listening to conversations that don't concern you." Evelyn quickly walked away. But the unease remained. Something was wrong. For years, life inside the mansion had followed the same pattern. The same rules. The same cruelty. The same silence. Yet tonight felt different. As if something was about to change. As if a storm were approaching. Far away, a private jet sliced through the night sky. Inside, a man sat alone reviewing a thick legal file. His dark eyes narrowed as he read the documents. One name appeared repeatedly. Evelyn Grace. A strange feeling settled in his chest. He closed the file. Outside the window, city lights appeared in the distance. Home. After years away, Daniel Blackwood was finally returning. And he had no idea that his arrival would change everything and the quiet servant hidden inside his family's mansion was about to become the center of a war that could destroy them all.
