Today is our first major qualifier in Albuquerque we have a two runs my trial run last night was crap I have been so flustered since Santa Fe.

I sigh doing my first run I knock a barrel and turn as I finish. It falls I take Mal back to the trailer and go in the tack room I sigh trying to breathe I grab the chalk I try to hold back my tears " f**k!!!" I throw it across the room I start picking up everything throwing it. I can't help but scream

I turn " Just go away"

He closes the door " What's going on with you?"

I sob " What's going on I just blew everything and I just started I am so f.ucked!"

" You have another run Tierney your going to be fine"

" Fine? I got a 6.8 if I don't get at least a 9.4 I am gone"

" And you don't rub less than a 9.3 on a usual day your going to be fine"

I bite my lip nodding as he grabs his clothes leaving I get dressed fixing my hair looking at the shambles I caused to my Tack I sigh walking out getting Mal ready " Alright missy I know I messed up earlier but we need our bang Mal"

She neighs in agreement and I kiss her head " I'm not ready to go home yet girl let's get us to those finals what do you say?"

She neighs again and I sigh walking her to the lines second runs are about to start. I climb on ready to go I feel way more relaxed then I did the first time I get ready and they call my name we run giving it all I can as I push my hours to get limits. I round the last barrel going out then jump off turning I am so nervous

" Track record 12.58 putting Tierney Martin at 9.8!"

I fall to my knees we did it we actually f*****g did it. I take Mal for a walk and back to the stables. Then climb up to the stands with the Harlow's.

" Hey sweetheart nice job you had us worried there"

I laugh sitting down " I had myself worried"

" Well maybe the dance tonight will get your mind off on it"

" Um yeah I need to clean my tack trailer first speaking of I may have had a huge fit after that first run. Do you think we can stop at tractor supply before we head to Flagstaff?"

She laughs " Temper tantrum huh"

Mr Harlow smiles " Totally understandable after that first run Hun we will stop just get you a list ready"

I nod and we turn watching they call Eddrin and Aleda runs up sitting in front of me. He goes and he does good like really f.uking good. " And just like that the Harlow slump is over!! 97 welcome to the rodeo ladies and gentlemen!!"

I turn looking at mr Harlow " Harlow slump?"

" Yeah he hasn't had over a 88 since the season started"

" I thought that was good?"

He shrugs " Gets him into nationals but doesn't make him a competitor really but this... If he does that well on his second he will definitely be seen as a threat again"

" Oh um got it"

We watch and second rounds start " Alright here is Harlow riding Terrible Tuesday now this is terrible's first time in the circuit but no one has lasted more than 3 seconds. They open the gate and the bull is going crazy. I stare at him

" Come on son!!"

This is the longest 8 seconds I have ever experienced in my life. The buzzer goes off and he dismounts everyone start whooping and hollering I can't help but join in

" Yeah Baby!!!" He points up to the stands and Aleda starts jumping in front of me but I can't help but think that was at me not her

" 98 HARLOW IS BACK LADIES AND GENTS"

He jumps the fence climbing to the stands his parents and Aleda hug him and she starts kissing on him he look over at me and gives me a prize winning smile I smile back biting my lip.

After the awards I head to my trailer to clean up making a list of everything I need " Hey"

I turn " Oh hey congrats today"

" Yeah of course"

He walks in shutting the door

" You um not going to the dance?"

" Have to do inventory first after all that today"

He sighs grabbing my waist kissing my neck " Rose water?"

I sigh leaning back to him " What are you doing in here Eddy?"

" Trying to convince my lucky charm to come to the dance"
