Andrew paced restlessly in the hallway of the police station, his phone gripped tightly in his hand. The haunting sound of Carla’s faint voice from the call played over and over in his mind. He couldn’t shake the desperation he’d heard in her slurred words or the way she had begged for help. His instincts screamed that Luna needed to know. “She deserves to hear this,” Andrew muttered under his breath, his thumb hovering over Luna’s contact. “She’s sitting at home, probably falling apart thinking Carla’s already gone.” He took a deep breath, about to press the call button, when the sound of approaching footsteps made him pause.
