The Bump In The Night

                *Alyssa's POV*             It was a cool August morning and I was wearing a yellow sunflower dress to school that day. I ate my breakfast and made sure to check my bow that mom put in my hair before she kissed me heading off to work that morning. I was only 8 years old but trusted enough to catch the bus by myself. "Now Alyssa, do NOT open this door for anyone when you get off the bus this evening, I'll be home around 5 " my mother yelled as she was walking out the front door. It was 7:30 sharp and I needed to catch the bus.  I lived in a quiet neighborhood and there were only 2 other kids my age Katie and Kendall. I was never that much aware of my surroundings but today was different. I noticed a moving van at the house beside me and a little boy walking near the end of the drive. I quickly put my head down because I was always shy around boys. They always made fun of me and would take my pretty bows out of my hair.                     "Hi"...."My name is Ben, whats your name?" still looking down at my shoes I gave him my name when a big gust of wind caught me by surprise and my bow came flying out of my hair. Too late to run after it because I could hear the bus coming. In that moment I heard Ben behind me "You dropped this." As I turned around I caught his eyes looking into mine. Oh how beautiful I thought his eyes were a bright blue with specks of silver. His face looked pale and his lips were chapped but his eyes had a lock on mine.              *Ben's POV*             Today was my first day of school, and already I am alone. Mom and dad are gone early as always and my brother left for college late last night. I was coughing again but I didn't want to worry my mom she stays up late when I start coughing and dad doesn't seem to get much sleep. Today's a new beginning and I see a girl at the end of her drive. Maybe we can be friends, but we move a lot. Mom says this time we will stay but that they couldn't take the collectors knocking on the door anymore. Her name is so pretty and I had the strength to run after her bow, maybe it will be different this time.             *Alyssa's POV*                Its recess and I love playing on the swings but today I want to sit and enjoy the sun. Before I knew it Jake grabbed my bow out of my hair and threw it on the ground. "Ew its Alyssa" he teased and out of no where Jake fly's to the ground scratching his chin on the hard mulch. Ben picks up my bow but there is something different about him, his eyes aren't bright blue with specks of silver, they are black and his nose is bleeding. "Don't worry Alyssa" Ben says as he hands me my bow. We gather back into the school and start packing up for the day. All I could think about was his eyes, maybe it was the sun in my eyes or the rush of blood in my cheeks but Ben's eyes....were they black?
