The New Man His eyes locked on the couple sitting near the bar. Both of them were quite good-looking. Sometimes he wondered where they came from, those people of his. But he didn’t spend too much time thinking about it. He wasn’t completely certain whether life belonged to him, or not. His illnesses should’ve killed him long ago. He’d been dying several times already — and without regret, so it seemed to him. But then, somehow, they saved him and he lived on. So many years already, despite his dulness and his run-of-the-mill fate. The couple were drinking beer. He went up to the bar and ordered himself a pint.
