In that exact moment, Henry came out of the woods still dressing with Camille on his heels as he barked, “I can ask the same damn thing.”
Frowning at the man he didn’t want around at this fragile time, David started to demand he leave when he saw Henry’s face. Full of concern as he saw the state of where his mate had been pushed, Henry almost fell to his knees as he felt her pain had tripled.
Angry seeing her left in that state, Henry ignored the warning from one of the Elder’s underlings and instead rushed forward. Only to again be blocked by David who barked, “This is none of your business wolf.”
Not able to play nice or even care about David’s plight or desperation, Henry instead found it more stupid. So, as he swung ready to rip the prick’s throat out, it was Camille yanking the pixie back until he fell into the mud that saved him. Paling, David heard the threat as Henry barked, “I don’t care if I have to kill you pixie. You get in my way again, and I will.”
Left in the mud, David was being helped by his wife when it happened. Henry was suddenly lifted, a vine wrapping around him and bringing him to the cottage. “Katherine must have heard him and wants him to come inside.” The Elder, like the others, all watched with bated breath.
And as the door opened suddenly, Henry was instantly concerned when he locked eyes on his mate. In a daze as she cried, Henry was scared seeing her face so red. He worried she’d faint; until he saw something that freaked him out more.
The green webbing that should be her veins, becoming darker as her aqua eyes seemed to shine too bright, he knew something was wrong. Henry was almost inside when the vine holding him was severed. Grabbed by the Elder’s underlings, Henry was sure he could take the small man and the young woman, but his body was frozen.
Unable to move his body, his eyes swiveled around as he couldn’t even feel his beast.
Hating the feeling of being out of control of his own body, Henry tried to fight it but as the pixies kept him stuck, it was what they wanted. Seeing him in pain and afraid, Katherine immediately hollered, “NO! LET HIM GO!” She ran out quick and as she punched the man trying to hold him, a vine came and almost crushed the woman around her age.
Screaming as it almost did, the woman was panting in fear as she caught her breath and it was while they were both shook, Katherine tried to grab him.
Only he was snatched back and levitated away by Elder Solar. Trembling, Katherine tried to reach for her mate, “Give him back. He’s mine.” Elder Solar’s crystal eyes shining like broken glass in the sun, the rainbow in the dreary afternoon lightening made her head hurt.
Especially as he began to chant and a power and heat in her chest became painful. Roaring back at him to leave her alone, she fought, but he sighed, “Oh darling you used power in the human cities. Those poisonous lay lines are still hurting you. We need to heal you.”
Refusing his help, not wanting it, the man, old enough to be her grandfather times seven, Katherine was surprised when he gently stroked her hair. “Rest my child. I swear on my life I will help you.”
His warm magenta aura around his hands making his words sound like liquid morphine, Katherine’s body gave out and as he caught her from hitting the ground like a dropped doll? The ground suddenly stopped shaking.
. The greyish tint to the sky finally slackened and as he held her in the sky, her mate kept jerking to get to her.
“Stay still wolf, we must go to the colonies. She needs to be healed, and you will be needed for it.” He turned and looked to her parents and the recently joined Josie Carlin with her husband and mate Tommy Carlin. All wide eyed and trembling he sighed as he told the parents, “You two with me.” He looked to the young mated couple, “You two go home.”
Listening and only glancing over their shoulders a few times, they both watched Elder Solar levitate Katherine and her mate into the woods, her parents following with the elder’s underlings. Getting back to the home, knowing they’d have reached the colonies by now, both Tommy and Josie were quiet.
Their reasoning for having gone to the Tomsen’s home thrown back in their face yet again. And now they were sitting in silence not looking at each other again. Silence stretching for a while, it was thirty minutes later, when Josie felt power at the center of the colonies, angry and loud? She knew who it was.
And she felt the pain wash over her from the residue power bleeding into the earth. And as it shook her, she looked to her husband finally who stared back knowingly. About to finally open his mouth and say something, it was then their neighbor and her friend came in with their kids.
Distracted as dinner, diaper changing, and baths were made to be more important, Josie knew she hid behind her children so her husband wouldn’t say it. She didn’t need him to.
So, Tommy saying it anyway?
“You were wrong, you need to fix this, we need to fix this.” Weren’t needed and weren’t responded to either.
They took her to the woods in a rush. The heart of the Naeli woods, the colonies of Pixie, fairy, elf, and gnome were all centered.
Taken to one of the factions more synchronized with healing, the pond she was put in after she was submerged in the waters of healing and restoration, Henry was finally taken out of the sky. Roaring ready to rip the asshole apart, Henry had thrown a pixie into a tree when someone ordered, “HENRY STOP!”
Freezing as he stood toe to toe with a scared-looking fairy, Henry’s snarl was vicious as his jaw extended. Ready to bite heads clean off, Camille was in front of him suddenly and Elijah was behind her. “Calm down. Just calm down.” He started to knock her out of his way, sick of listening to her.
Only the alpha was prepared to defend his mate.
Well so was he.
“Get out of my way. These people have done enough to her!” Elijah looked at him and then turned to see Katherine also not doing too well. Surrounded by her pixie kin, the women working had strings of her aura shown to the naked eye as she moaned unconscious as pain filled her.
“Shhh, deary it’s okay.” A woman cooed at the young girl she’d known since infancy. Strings dark reds and crossing, the women were moving slow and gentle with their reweaving.
But the gentle hands and soft words did nothing for the pain Katherine experienced though. As her power conquered the space and tried to escape, they used theirs to nurture and calm it. But as she cried still, Henry rushed forward wanting to take her from them. Only he was stopped by larger fairies with spears as they protected the man from earlier.
Their Elder, who stood like a regal toothpick, Henry wanted to say he could take the old being, but he wasn’t stupid or cocky. The man had power and an army clearly. And as he didn’t want to fight at all, he was the calm one as he looked at Henry seriously, “Young wolf we need you to calm yourself, we’re not trying to hurt her.”
Henry disregarded the creepy asshole trying to talk him down. “You’ve all done that ten times over. I don’t trust you and neither does she. So, whatever you’re doing? Stop.”
