The Werewolf King's Maid Mate

Chapter 2

Benjamin’s POV

A few hours earlier

“How much longer is there to go Angelique?” I ask impatiently.

“Not long now Benji, this will be the last pack we have to visit for a few weeks” she smiles in response.

Angelique is my trusted beta, she is a strong individual that train’s my warriors well. She was the one who convinced me alongside my council to come on this little adventure to all the packs. The unity and strength of the northern packs will help us if we end up going to war with the southern pack. I trust her judgement more than most as we grew up together, her father was my father’s beta.

I stare out of the window as we approach the Snowfall pack. I never did like coming here, Alpha James was a strange man and something was always off about him. I check the time on my phone and it’s 04:30am, hopefully James won’t be too annoyed at our early arrival.

Another hour and we arrive at Snowfall’s pack house, it’s a very modern pack house as it was newly rebuilt. The guards of the pack house are stood outside waiting for us. Angelique gets out of the car first and approaches them.

“Welcome to Snowfall pack” they chant in unison.

“I expected to see your Alpha and Luna out here to greet us” Angelique replies sternly.

“Angie, I’m sure they have a good explanation” I state calmly.

I look towards the guards as they didn’t notice me get out of the car. They look at each other in panic, they clearly didn’t know why their own Alpha wasn’t outside also. I look around taking in the gigantic structure in front of me, yet out the corner of my eye something intrigues me.

A shed.

I wonder to myself why they would keep a run down shed when they have just rebuilt their whole pack house. A faint smell of lavender and cotton is coming from the shed that is drawing me towards it. It almost put’s me into a trance and I forget about the rest of my surroundings. I can feel my wolf, Jasper becoming very excited from this new smell and also angry as he can pick up a hint of blood alongside it.

“Benji, are you okay?” Angelique quizzes via our mindlink. This pulls me out of the trance that I was experiencing. I then come to realise I must have been staring at the shed for some time now. I look back at Angelique.

“There is something strange about that shed over there. Also, I find it very curious that the Alpha and Luna didn’t bother to show up to greet us. I think we will stay here longer than planned and find out what this wonderful Alpha is hiding here” I respond. Angelique nods to me in agreement.

“Please let me take you to the Alpha’s office my king, I am sure it is a misunderstanding” one of the guards says as he starts to lead the way into the pack house.

The pack house is nicely decorated, with cream walls full of art. They kept some of the old wooden structure of the previous house, it gives a vintage feel to the house. I see other members of the pack house running around trying to prepare for our arrival. They clearly weren’t well informed by their own Alpha to us coming today otherwise they may have started preparing the extra rooms the previous day.

“My king, your room will be in the East wing alongside rooms for all of your entourage.” One of the guards points us down a hallway.

“Thank you, please inform your Alpha that we have arrived and if he could grace me with his presence I would be so pleased to see him” I smirk.

The guards nod and hurry off in a different direction, almost breaking into a sprint to get away from me. This makes me chuckle to myself, I look towards Angelique who has a less than impressed look on her face.

“I guess we settle in then go find this Alpha for ourselves. Then I will take our warriors and test the fighting skills of this pack” Angelique walks towards one of the rooms followed by one of our guards holding her luggage.

I turn and head into the room the guard pointed at for me. The room has a large fireplace with a corner sofa in front of it. The large 4 post bed sits in the middle of the room. The walls of the room are covered in art and cabinets with various artefacts inside them. I walk through to the en-suite, it has cream tiled walls, with a large marble bath sat in the middle of the room which could easily fit 4 people. To the side there is a walk-in Rainfall shower made from gold. They really didn’t spare an expense when creating this room, it makes me wonder if the rest of the pack house room are also like this.

I hear a knock at the door and I can smell the familiar Sandalwood scent.

“Come in Angie” As she comes in I can see her looking around the room and she then peaks her head into the bathroom.

“Woahh, you definitely got the nicest room hahaa”

“Ahh, well that answers my query to if they did this to every room or just this one” I chuckle as I start to walk towards the hallway.

“Let’s go find this wonderful packs leader’s then”

We walk down the hallways for a couple of minutes, watching as everyone is waking up and getting ready. I can feel my wolf, Jasper getting very excited and impatient for some reason. Angelique and I then turn the corner, we see 3 people jumping up and down in the distance. I can tell that two of them are mates, and can hear that she just found out she is with pup. It makes me very proud to see our population growing. My eyes then land on the person they are stood with, she has white hair with a curvy but smaller frame. I can feel Jasper trying to fight me to come out and run to her. The familiar smell of lavender comes back to me

“MATE” he says to me.

I continue to stare at her, as she is then shouted at.

“What do you think you are doing” someone yells.

The girl I am staring at jumps and faces our way. She does a quick apology then scurries off down the hall in a different direction.

I grab the arm of the person who just shouted. I can feel my grip tightening on her arm as Jasper starts to take over me.

“And just what do you think you are doing. Shouting at that girl over there in such a violent manner, in the presence of your king”

“Benji, you need to calm down, we still need to find the alpha”

I hear Angelique’s voice in my head and hesitantly let go of the girls arm and she runs off.

“Why did you lose your temper like that over a maid?”

“Angie I think that girl is my mate, Jasper started going wild over her. However, I feel like something was not right, the left side of her face was swollen”

“OMG! Our king has found his mate, this is amazing! Don’t worry if anything has happened to her we will find out about it. Just play it cool for now though until we get more details”

I nod at Angelique as we continue down the hall, I know we are going in the right direction as I start to feel Alpha James’ aura. We knock on a door and let ourselves in before we hear a response. The Alpha and Luna were stood in front of a fireplace, burning some paperwork.

“Well Alpha James I expected to see you a lot sooner and not have to hunt you down in your own pack house”

The Alpha is a big, muscular man with short dark brown hair and dark brown eyes to match. His Luna was a pretty woman with light brown hair and hazel eyes to match.

“My king, I apologise for not being able to greet you straight away but I understand that my guards showed you and and your entourage to your rooms. I hope you made yourself comfortable whilst I had some business to attend to”

James and Sophie walk towards me to shake mine and Angelique’s hand. We shake their hands out of trying to stay professional.

“The king has decided he would like to stay for a few day’s to see just how well your pack’s warriors have been trained and if there is anything else we may need to do to bolster your defensives if we end up at war with the south” Angelique’s announces to them both.

“Of course, you are welcome to stay for as long as you may need. Now please let us show you to our dining hall so that you are able to eat after your long journeys” Sophie smirks.

“I would be happy to go, one question though. What were you burning? By the smell of it in here you were burning a lot of paper work” I stare at the fireplace and notice the southern king’s logo on some of the papers.

“Oh nothing, just some old paperwork we found. We were having a clear out of some old desks” The alpha becomes defensive in his response.

“Okay, well lead the way to your dining hall Alpha”

“Angelique, something isn’t right, I saw the southern king’s logo on quite a few of those papers. I will go to breakfast with the Alpha and Luna. I want you to go back to your room and contact the security guys back home and see if there are any connections between this pack and the south”

Angelique nods.

“I think that I’m going to go back to my room and change into something more comfortable for training later. I will join you in the dining hall shortly for breakfast”.

Alpha James just nods at Angelique and we walk in a different direction towards the dining hall. We approach two large oak doors and the Alpha opens them. As soon as the door opens all of the chatting and laughter stops. We walk towards the head table which is on a platform at the other side of the room. I can feel a lot of eyes on me initially and I try to get a feel on the room.

All of a sudden the lavender scent hits me again and I can feel Jasper trying to claw his way out of me probably because he wants to mark her straight away and make her his own. I have to ignore the feeling and continue to walk to the table. I need to find out what this pack is hiding before I make any sudden moves to try and claim my mate. Myself, the Alpha and Luna take our seats and the chatting in the room once again starts.

“So how was your journey King Benjamin” Sophie asks.

“Please, just call me Benjamin, it has been a long one I must say Luna. We have been on the road for a long time ensuring all the packs are doing okay, I shall be glad when I can go back to my own home after visiting this pack”

“Ahh I see, well hopefully your trip here will be a pleasant one then and you are happy with everything that you see”

We then start to eat from the selection of fruits, pastries and hot food that is on the table.

“Angelique, where are you?”

“Oh I’m coming Benji, but I think I just ran into your mate”
